i've never been to the movies before!
Who: Eilidh, Layla, Elaine and Natalisa
When: Evening
Where: Movie theater
Eilidh knew what going to the movies meant.
Or at least she thought that she knew what it meant. During her centuries spent watching the mortal world she'd seen the rise of film, though she'd never really been able to experience it for herself she understood the pull, and she'd seen the things that mortals did at the movies. Young people took each other there for a dark place to kiss. Which really, that Eilidh didn't understand. They gave away their money -- and it took them effort to get it, they couldn't just glamour a stack of convincing bills out of some paper towels from the bathroom -- just so that they could steal kisses? Eilidh didn't see the point, they had cars didn't they? Or houses? Or a good tree with thick branches that they could hide in if they didn't want to be seen? Eilidh didn't see the point of it. But she had seen that it was almost a tradition, something they did at all ages, and to have been asked to go to the movies with Layla? The fae didn't even care that there was going to be another pair -- couple, they called them couples -- with them. The truly important thing was that she was going to be at the movies with Layla. She'd even tried to dress a little less attention-grabbing so that Layla'd be able to actually focus on her.
Speaking of Layla, Eilidh couldn't remember for the life of her what time she was supposed to meet all of them at this theater. She knew that it wasn't before five and also that it wasn't later than seven. So, to be safe, she'd arrived at four. She'd spent some time studying all the different movies, wondering which one they were going to see and then she'd gone inside where she had discovered the little video game arcade tucked away into a corner and she had completely forgotten about the rest of the world when she did. Time didn't matter, the fact that she was waiting for someone didn't... All that mattered to Eilidh was that she had to get the little yellow circle who had a mouth to eat all of the dots before the ghost-like things ate him. It was downright addictive.
She had lost her last quarter by the time she finally looked at the clock to see that it was nearing seven. "Oh!" Shocked -- where had the time gone? -- the fae whirled away from the machine and stepped out into the rather more crowded theater. Here was where she wished she could just stretch out to her natural height so she could see over the crowd and find Layla.
