Shit went bad, he's on the roof again
Who: Luke and Zhari
Where: Bubba's Sulky Lounge
When: Evening
Ugh. It wasn't like Luke was a stranger to hangovers, not in the slightest, as a human as a vampire, but it had been a while since he'd felt this much like shit. What the fuck was in those berries at the park, anyway? Had he made all that up and none of it had really happened? He could remember bits and pieces of the day before. There was a girl who'd been nice to him when he'd been freaking out, but he couldn't remember her name now. Something with a C? Maybe he'd put it together if he ever saw her again, who knew. He did know, however, that whatever those berries were, it wasn't something he wanted to experience again.
Because he remembered every bit of the hallucinations. Of his ma and Charlie and Angel telling him to die. That he was a useless sack of shit and he couldn't help - or save - anyone. Angel... Angel didn't return as a ghost, even with how she'd died, stabbed and bled to death in Luke's arms before they could get her to a hospital. But she showed up for him now and compounded with all the other things his brain was coming up with, thanks to the berries, it made it even worse.
It's just a bad trip. You'll be fine. Don't worry about it. He kept repeating those words in his head, over and over, as he stumbled into Bubba's. His bar. Technically. Right now he didn't care if the place was busy or slow or even on fire, he just wanted a drink. Preferably from some drunk pretty little thing who didn't know any better. It wasn't like Luke had ill intentions, he just needed a distraction. As he took a seat, one of the bartenders snorted in his direction. "Weren't you supposed to be here an hour ago?"
"What?" Luke blinked, pushing his hair out of his eyes. "Fuck if I know." He glanced over at the other bartender working, the redhead who always kept to herself. Luke liked her, she didn't cause any problems. "Hey, Zhari, am I supposed to be working or what?"
