Since Rina had stopped by the shop, Jadyn was having a difficult time feeling particularly terrible. She didn't feel good, but at least her feelings had come to a sort of head and she was able to pinpoint why she felt the guilt she did. Missy must have had her reasons for waiting so long before letting Jadyn see her -- most of those reasons were justified by her reaction when she saw what had happened. Jadyn wasn't a fool. She knew that she had reacted harshly when a sane person would have given Missy at least a moment to explain. Missy couldn't be happy. She hated vampires as much as Jadyn did, only she actually did something about it. Jadyn withered and tried to make herself as unnoticeable as possible; Missy killed them. She half wished that she had Missy's strength to fight back. She hadn't slept very well. Her guilt kept her tossing and turning in the bed, so she finally resigned herself to the two hours she had managed to get. Jadyn rolled out of the bed and flipped on the television just to have some background noise as she got ready for the day, but what she found on the screen was much more captivating than what she had planned. Missy. 'I wish you wouldn't spend all day pining after her.' Bubbler announced that he too was awake and he was not happy about it. Jadyn only ignored him and watched the last few minutes of Missy's report. It hurt to see her there. To see her on a television set where she couldn't be touched. 'Would you even let her touch you if you saw her?' Maybe not. But I've got to get over this. She's still Missy, right? 'How should I know? I've never been a vampire before.' The morning passed by and Jadyn finally decided to call Missy. But what would she say? What could she say? She sat on her porch, legs stretched out into the slight drizzle of rain so she could have some contact from her element. Apologize. Explain. Missy will understand. Water droplets ran down her legs and between her toes. If only the day was not so humid. She finally stopped fiddling with her phone and dialed Missy's number, pressing the 'talk' button as she raised it to her ear. 'Don't cry if she doesn't answer.' What was the point of having walls to be separated from her familiar if he was just going to eavesdrop onto her thoughts. She thought she heard a click on the other end. "Hello? Missy?" |
