I'm a dead man walking here
Who: Lida and Troy
Where: Troy's garden to start with
When: early evening
Warnings: Violence
For one reason or another, today had been a particularly draining day of classes. Troy wasn't quite sure what it was that had been trying about the day, but likely it had a little something to do with the fact that it was pouring down rain the entire day. He liked to see the sun, but the thick clouds veiled the sky and made that impossible. It was not the first time that it had rained all day and likely it wouldn't be the last, but for some reason that weighed heavily on the elemental. He wasn't sure it was anything to do with anything else; the fact that Jackson was getting settled in Troy's spare room had very little to do with his mood. If anything, Troy was happier knowing that the man was safe and had less to worry about, even if it was only temporary. He'd still made it very clear that Jackson could stay as long as he needed or wanted to, and he hoped the man would take him up on that. He genuinely liked helping people in need and even a "bad" day -- as bad as they ever got for Troy -- would not change that fact. Once classes were over and the dojo was spotless, he made his way outside, pulling the hood of a hoodie up over his head to shelter himself slightly from the rain as he went.
Even as much as he tended to his garden, Troy always found there was something more to do in it. Tonight, his task was to make sure that the younger plants and saplings hadn't been stripped of their soil from the wash of the rain. A little precipitation was great for his garden, but too much and then his plants would begin to suffer. As hard as it was to work in his garden at night and as much as it didn't exactly make sense, it didn't stop the elemental from plying his magic on the leafy occupants of his garden. Plus, the light he'd installed to illuminate the area worked wonders when it came to working at night. Troy didn't always have time during the daylight hours to get around to doing all he wanted to, so it was good that he had a backup plan. Lost in thought and lulled to a sense of peace by his element and the sound of the rain as it landed on him, Troy began to let the stress from the day go, relaxing as he tuned into the information he was getting about his garden from Earth. His hoodie was quite soaked by now and he knew he'd have to take a warm shower to recover from the exposure. The thought was a comforting one, and the sound of the rain almost completely masked the sound of someone approaching. Had he had the foresight to use his elemental mastery to sense through the earth beyond his carefully tended plants, he might not have been so caught off guard.
