Head for the hills the kitchen's on fire
Who: Marisa, Reggie, and Willow plus a handful of NPCs (Bess, Sarah, Jacob, Tiger, Haze...)
Where: Reggie's apartment
When: Bit after eleven, and this
"SARAH!"
"Oh my god, Bess, it's dead. Get. Over. It."
"STOP SAYING THAT, DAD WILL HEAL HIM!"
"DAD'S THE ONE WHO TURNED IT INTO A TATER TOT!"
The sound of a thud interrupted the yelling and by the time that Reggie got himself out of the shower he heard the sounds of what was definitely a cat fight going on in the living room. He hurriedly pulled on a pair of shorts and a tank top, his hair still dripping, and emerged from the bathroom just in time to catch Sarah pinning Bess to the floor while the smaller girl got a handful of her hair and yanked hard enough that she screamed. Normally Reggie would have had no problem pulling them off of each other, but right now he was half-afraid to touch a single thing for fear that it would go up flames like the cactus, a few shirts, and him in the garden. To say nothing of the house plants he had tried reaching out to heal earlier. If he grabbed either of them and accidentally burned them? Reggie would never be able to forgive himself. So he just stepped right up to them and stomped the ground. "Break it up!" Even with all of the insanity that was ruling the apartment his voice still held some sway and the girls pulled apart, both looking vaguely guilty. The effect was spoiled a bit by the tears in Bess's eyes and the sullen look on Sarah's face. "Can I get you two to just... stop? Marisa and Willow are coming over because we're going to figure this out. What I don't need is for you to be fighting over... the cactus?"
"She was going to throw him away!" Bess blurted, lower lip sticking out in a definite pout. "Like he was garbage!"
Sarah rolled her eyes. "It's crisped and not coming back. She doesn't need to keep it in the room, it needs to go in the garbage."
"Pepe's going to be fine!"
'Breathe, Reggie, if you lose your temper - which by the way, you have a temper? - then something's going to end up bursting into flames and we don't need the fire alarms to go off on top of all this.'
"Bess? Put the cactus in a baggie in the fridge. No, just do it. And Sarah? Go to the door and wait for whoever comes. I don't want you antagonizing your sister."
"But she's-"
Reggie pointed to the door and, after staring at him like it would change his mind, Sarah huffed and stalked off to drop into the chair, arms crossed over her chest. When it became clear that she would stay there, Reggie went back into the bathroom so that he could at least dry his hair and put his shirt on the right way. This was going to be bad enough without adding on a horrible wardrobe that Willow or Marisa could tease him about. Well, Willow. He doubted that Marisa was really going to be in the mood for any of that. 'Someone's here,' Tiger informed Reggie as Sarah opened the door to greet the woman on the other side. 'How do teenagers go from sulking to grinning like they're the sweetest thing on the planet in five minutes?' Hell if I know, teenagers are a special breed. And they changed every generation because Reggie would have sworn he had never been that way when he was a teen. "I'll be out in just a sec!" he called through the open door, rubbing the towel against his already curling hair.
Then he heard Bess. "Dad burned my cactus and made me shut him in the fridge." And that, that right there dancing on the edge of his left hand was a ball of flame that he tried to shake off, only to find that it was engulfing his hand. His instincts screamed 'OH MY GOD PUT IT OUT' but it felt kind of... nice, not painful at all. Reggie still thrust his hand under the open sink and breathed a sigh of relief when the fire went away while a wisp of smoke drifted up and out into the hall. He was going to have a heart attack if fire kept appearing out of nowhere.
Emerging from the bathroom - hair somewhat dry, shirt on the right way and only a little bit of smoke hanging around his hands - Reggie gave a tight smile. "There's a very good reason I wasn't born a fire elemental."
