I've been a saint to those poor unfortunate souls Who: Daniel and Salvatrix Where: Amazing Grace When: Just after service
After yesterday it should come as no surprise to anyone that Daniel was in a fabulous mood. He always was when he felt like he had successfully managed to ruin someone's day, if not their entire week or life. That wide-eyed look that Daisy had given the door after he pushed her out of it had been the cherry on - no, no that was wrong. The real cherry on top of the sundae had been when she had thrown her tights down before wandering out. Daniel could have retrieved them, but instead he had chosen to leave them there until service today. As usual he had positioned himself near the door while the various parishioners came in and it was easy, oh so easy, to pick out the demons from the others. Not only did they obviously feel like his kind, but they only smirked at and then ignored the tights. The mortals, even the demonic-bloods, stared for a little longer or cleared their throats or made an unconscious movement to pick them up. Yet no one seemed in the mood to ask him about why they were there or why he was leaving them there. And he had a good story ready should they. Yet time came for service to start and no one had. Which he supposed was fine, he was more interested in the few demons that he had not fully recognized. Like that little curly-haired girl he had high suspicion was the Shepherd Briony had mentioned a few times - oh and he had given his deepest condolences to the Fells family, all the while making sure to catch Briony's eyes so that she knew without a doubt that he wanted details of what had happened.
Daniel was more concerned thinking about that than he was with the actual sermon. Mostly because? He picked a place in the Bible and made it all up on the spot while he let his power flow out and over the crowd, ninety percent of whom were here for the second or more time and had already gotten a good dose of him. In a few weeks he was positive that he could switch out the word 'heaven' for 'hell' and they would still nod along or act like he had said something they agreed with. You're all going to hell, that's what's happening, for being led astray by a demon. But this week he talked about... what was it? Noah, he talked about Noah and the Ark and all the undesirable things that had led to the flood. Let them interpret it as they would, he had mixed up and said two animals of the same sex just to see who was listening. (Answer? No one.) Naturally he had to tag on a little sorrowful notice to the Fells family along with offering all the prayers of the church this week to help them get through this terrible, awful time when their little girl had been taken from them. By demons. With Briony right there. Really? Daniel just hoped that they would ask to have the funeral service here. He loved funerals.
But, as always, the service wrapped up and Daniel wished them all the best week that they could hope to have. He warned them to not venture out after dark and definitely not alone - though he knew they probably would, which was too bad because he loved culling a large flock - and sent them on their merry ways. As always it was the mortals who made the motion to the doors first. They wanted to be there and yet, at the same time, there was that base instinct in them to get out because some part of them knew how bad a place it was. Daniel was not the only demon there and there were a few more than normal today. Word does get around fast these days. Daniel kept a sorrowful look on his face as he nodded to the people passing, but it was not long before he found himself distracted by the sight of a demon that... had he seen her before? Maybe? If he had then he had been too distracted by other things to say a proper hello. Manners may not have actually mattered to him, but Daniel did like to know the demons who came to his church and what they thought of it. Their opinions were usually very amusing. Excusing himself from Mrs. Zimerman and her concerns over demons killing children, Daniel made his way over. "Enjoy the sermon?"
