let's bake!
Who: Satu and Silvia
When: After school
Where: Nikita's home
There was parenting, there was being cautious, there was being neglectful and then there was Nikita. Silvia didn't think that she really fit into any of the prescribed molds and she'd been trying to stick her in one all day. For two days. The vampire had gone from hardly being around to always being there. And Silvia meant always. She'd get up to go to school and the vampire would be there, looking a little tired, but still there. She'd get home from school and Nikita was there with questions about her day and homework. Dinner time and there was Nikita. Bed time and once again, there was Nikita. Seriously, it was a complete turn-around and Silvia wasn't one hundred percent sure how to deal with it. Past the sarcasm that came out when the vampire was still there. She'd expected it to go on for two days. If it was still happening tomorrow then she'd be surprised. Then it might be a serious thing instead of just something that she was doing because she felt guilty. Guilty didn't make someone a good parent. Silvia had guilted her dad plenty of times and he hadn't been a good parent because of it. Her mom was because she just was.
"You don't have to follow me every time I leave my room," Silvia declared as she stepped out and ran down the stairs to the door. She'd heard the car pull up before she'd seen it and sure enough, that was Mrs. Niemi's car. Silvia couldn't wait for the day when she and her friends were old enough that they didn't need to be chauffeured around. Though that'd be literal for me. Nikita wouldn't even need to drag herself away from her office for it. "And I've got the door." Bouncing up to it, she checked her reflection in the hall mirror before pulling it open to grin at Satu and then even up at Mrs. Niemi. "Hey Satu, Mrs. Niemi. Do you want me to call when we're done?" Apparently the answer to this was no because Mrs. Niemi was going to visit with Nikita. Silvia had sort of forgotten that Satu's mom seemed to know every single person in town and she'd definitely forgotten that included her own. "See, your mom's cool," Silvia shared as they made their way into the kitchen where Annie had set out the supplies that Silvia had requested. She should've done this yesterday, but... she had decided that today was better. And today she had Satu with her. They weren't the best of friends, true, but they got along well enough even if Satu had gone up a grade while Silvia had been held back this year.
"So I was thinking that, since I've never really done more than lick the spoon, that we should start with cookies. You ever made cookies?"
