This just doesn't feel right
Who: Saoirse and Verina
Where: Heme
When: Evening
Heme. Verina had been hearing mention of it since she came to Michigan and now she was standing inside and she had to say that she was not impressed. It was not even a weekend and yet there were plenty of people there, ready to do... whatever it was they did. Drink at the bar, alcohol or blood, or shamelessly flirt with a vampire for reasons that Verina was happier not thinking about. She knew of the people who wanted to get themselves bitten or even changed. Outside she had heard someone using the term 'fangbanger' and it had not taken much imagination to figure out what that referred to. The living who wanted to sleep with the dead. What purpose did that even serve? Verina could not think of a single other one than simply being pleasurable and that was a fine, fine line to walk before it became extremely excessive, not to mention pointless. That was something that Verina had never been able to understand about anyone and - "Excuse me." That was not meant as an apology and when she got a 'that's alright' in response from the man who had run into her her mouth tightened into a line. Well at least now she knew that manners had continued to decline while she was gone. How could Truly get along here and keep hoping that they would get better? Verina hardly managed to keep the hope that her family had kept it together, to say nothing of the people.
People who, when they looked at her, made no bother to hide their surprise. Yes, she knew that her choice of outfit was not exactly what most people would put on, but she also did not care. This was comfortable and it looked fine. It did not attract unwanted attention and it would not impeded her if she suddenly needed to run or any variety of other things. It was practical. But, practical and acceptable or not, she may very well have words with the next person who asked why grandma was walking around at a vampire bar. Did they not know that the woman over there who looked hardly more than seventeen was likely old enough to be their great-great grandmother? Besides that, she was a grandmother and part of the reason she was here was in the hope that perhaps she would catch a glimpse of one of the members of her family she was searching for. No, none of them had exactly been the sort to come out and party every night, but Faith had always been rather energetic and optimism could probably be found everywhere in a place like this. Along with despair, excess and idiocy. Verina's mouth twitched as she turned towards the bar, having seen no one who looked even vaguely familiar, and focused on the young-seeming woman behind it. She might actually be young. And, unlike a good half of the people here, Verina did not want to focus in on her and all-but force her to just accept that she needed to tone herself down.
"Is it possible to get just a water, perhaps?" Verina had money thanks to someone who had been very interested in buying an old artifact she was not extremely attached to, but she really was just thirsty for water. I won't feel bad if it spills on someone because I get run into again either. Did people not know how to look where they were going or had she magically turned invisible in the past thirty seconds?
