You & I - we were born to die
Who: Cheyenne and Missy
Where: Cheyenne's home
When: Night
Yesterday had been a lesson. A really good lesson that could have been titled "What Not To Do Around Certain Vampires". Missy would have been top of the class if the goal was to see how much you could irritate them, because she was sure that she would have been dead for the second time in a week if Eloisa had not decided that she wanted to keep her alive. Undead. Whatever it was, if the red-eyed vampire had not had a hand in it then something told Missy that Valya really would have bashed her brains out against the sidewalk. And happily. How weird was it that Eloisa was the reason she was still some sort of alive when it was also Eloisa who had killed her? If life had a submission box for weirdest things that happened then she would have stuck that in and expected to win a prize. Sure, the world was full of supernaturals and odd happenings, but this? This was beyond what she had ever expected... and she had yet to tell Nikita about it. Why would she? Because Valya said that- no! Not thinking about that! Missy had to stop and squeeze her eyes shut, pressing the heels of her palms into her eyes until she saw little white flashes of light. Anything was better than letting herself begin to think about what Valya had said and the way that Eloisa had carried on as though it were true. They had both given her such looks when she denied it...
This time, Missy pressed her fingers against the necklace she was wearing over her turtleneck, the sharp pain making her bite her lip hard enough to pierce the skin. But at least she had stopped thinking about what had been said. Forgetting about what had happened around that was much, much harder. Red eyes, black eyes... either way they were terrifying and being in a kitchen setting with them had not made it any easier to bear. No, seeing Eloisa and Valya be so polite and loving towards one another had really made it worse. Missy had never seen any vampire act so - Nikita did once. STOP THAT! This time she had to bite back a yelp when she grasped at the silver necklace. Had she needed to breathe then she was certain she would have been gasping as she stood there on the sidewalk leading up to this house she had been told she needed to go to. And behind that door was another vampire. The only thing that kept her from turning and walking away was the memory of what else was out there waiting for her. Whoever was back there had to be better than Eloisa and Valya.
A deep, completely unnecessary breath and two fidgets later, Missy finally knocked on the door. Then she started twirling her ring around her finger while she waited. Sometimes she was glad that Kristen was ten and what she thought was pretty was also affordable by terms of her allowance because this ring was a cheap knock-off instead of being real silver. Later she needed to go through all of her jewelry and pick out what was and was not wearable. "Hello?" Missy called, feeling completely uncomfortable out on a vampire's doorstep. The only thing that kept her from fidgeting again was the reassuring feel of the straps around her lower leg that kept her knife there. Missy refused to have a thing to do with another vampire without at least having something to defend herself. Fangs were hardly worth the trouble if the other person had them too. "Ms. Winters?" Had she gotten the day wrong, maybe? I could always go home and come back again never... The memory of red eyes kept her standing still. Nikita's words sounded almost reassuring in her mind; "she's practically human". But what did that even mean?
