"No? Yeah no, you're wrong and it would help. Putting that jerk through what he does is just what he needs and it won't ever happen." I could make it happen and he'd deserve it. Cole was not at all soothed or calmed by the idea of Ms. Winters talking to Josh or his parents. He rolled his eyes and snorted to show just how much that impressed him. "Seriously Ms. Winters? Come on, you know kids better than that. Dragging him in here to talk to you won't do a bit of good and that's why it hasn't happened. He'll stare at your rack-" Well it was true. "-and go back and make jokes at his buddies about how long he was in here and it won't do a thing so you shouldn't even bother. Thought you knew better than that." Every counselor should know so much better than that. It should be taught in introductory lessons or whatever they had to suffer through to get their degree. Cole hardly responded to this sort of thing, he just went through with it because if he resisted he would get in more trouble than he already was. Plus Ms. Winters was one of the few adults in the school he could put up with without wanting to roll his eyes so hard they went spinning across the floor.
Shrugging, Cole sank a little farther back into his chair. That was the only part of this whole mess that actually got to him - the idea that he might need to be kept in check. Not because of what he did, but because of what he was. Before the Light of May none of this would have happened and he would have probably ended up with a black eye or a bloody nose before he got sent here for causing a ruckus - it was just disturbing to everyone when the blue-haired boy laughed up a storm in the hall instead of running to cry in the boy's room - but now he wound up here and about to get some sort of suspension probably because he fought back the only way he could. Josh had muscles, Cole had telekinesis. Fair was fair and they lived with the cards they were dealt. "Knooooooow what?" Cole drawled at last. "I don't want to. He gets to use those muscles he's worked so hard on on me and all he gets is detention and some cleaning duty, but I use the muscles that I've worked on my whole life and I possibly get suspended because it's a little scarier and they can't see me doing it? No, screw that, Ms. Winters. I'll behave when they behave and not a day before." He flashed a grin back at the counselor. "My mom would support me so you don't have to bother calling her. And don't you know that a scared bully is a dangerous one? He's gonna try kicking my ass sooooooo hard it might even be funny." He could have tried acting like he cared a little more about the repercussions of his actions, but Cole was not in the mood.
