Chase felt great. For the first time since his return from Thailand, he actually felt like he was fit. The initial presentation of his heart disorder often presented itself as congestive heart failure, which is exactly what happened to Chase a couple years ago. According to his doctors, a vast majority of the patients who survive the initial presentation get better. Chase never did and instead continued to show symptoms of his illness. While he obviously never died (at least...not until last Tuesday and that really had nothing to do with his heart), he never really got better either. Chase had sent an e-mail out to both sections of his class apologizing for missing the entire first week of class. He had informed them they would be offered the extra credit if they came to attend his intro lecture/make-up class at the same time on Friday. While in his experience, the honors section always made the other section feel threatened or intimidated, he supposed he could infuse a little bit of cultural anthropology in that mix. He arrived a few minutes early and saw that some students had shown up. He was aware the full moon was tonight but he would be quite harmless until later.
He sat behind his desk and shuffled papers around, getting ready for class discussion. He only really had syllabuses to hand out and a little bit of a get-to-know-you for the classes but that was about it. And then everyone could go home and enjoy the rest of their weekend. And he could go home and get tranquilized.
