making friends is always a good thing!
Who: Daisy and Lida
When: Early Evening
Where:Seeds of Beauty
Daisy wasn't entirely sure what went into buying a house. When it came to their money and other affairs, Joseph was the one who was completely in charge. He had never offered to share those things with her, nor had she cared to ask. To Daisy, money was meaningless. What she couldn't afford, she stole. There was nothing that she could want that stood outside of her reach. All that mattered to her was that yesterday they were living in a run down motel and today, they were moving into a house of their own. Sure they had lived in many houses before, but never one in Scarlet Oak! "Moving" of course, was a loose term for what Daisy had devoted the day to. They had few belongings, nothing that couldn't be packed into a handful of suitcases. Once she had unpacked their clothes into the closet and displayed what few decorations she owned, she saw to rearranging the furniture that had been graciously lent to them by the previous owners; well... lent in the sense that they wouldn't be using them anymore. The living room had been her first priority. There were only two couches, a coffee table, and a couple of end tables, but it had taken Daisy the better part of the day to get the room how she liked it. Sure, Joseph had helped when he felt particularly opinionated that something needed to be placed in a certain spot, but otherwise, she was left to her own devices -- one foot and all. The bedroom had been next, but without any more furniture than the bed, which was already in the perfect place, there wasn't much to be done. The only idea that sprung to her mind to improve the space was a few more decorations. Flowers would be perfect, Daisy thought to herself with a smile. Of course the thought never occurred to her that she should wait until tomorrow, when it would be sunny and possibly dry, to go out and buy plants. She wanted them and she wanted them now. Daisy bounced down the stairs -- literally. After almost falling attempting to walk up the stairs, she had had to think of a new way to climb and descend the staircase without Joseph's help. Getting up was a little more taxing, but to come downstairs, Daisy would scoot herself on her bottom down each step. It may have seemed ridiculous, but it kept her from getting hurt -- and it helped her cope with her fear of the second story. "I'm going out for something for the house! I'll be back in an hour!" She called out to Joseph as she hobbled her way over to her hanging raincoat. Daisy had no sooner taken two steps out the door when she remembered that they did not own a car and the phone had not been set up so that she could call a cab. But flowers... A firm pout sprouted on her face. She took a deep sigh and resigned herself to walking into town. It wasn't an impossible distance, but it was an annoying one. Daisy was officially over the being in crutches. She had no idea how long it had taken her, but by the time she had arrived in town, she was soaked to the bone. The florist behind the counter had given her an exceptionally dirty look when she walked in the door, instantly creating a puddle where she stood. Daisy only shrugged her shoulders and went to her browsing. |
