As Missy shifted, Jadyn held onto her even tighter. She had to know that Missy was not going to go anywhere. Not that she would, but Jadyn was not leaving anything up to chance. Missy was in her arms and she was starting to feel a bit more secure -- so she was not about to let go. Sniffling, she listened to Missy's words that were meant to comfort her. She didn't think that she was too good for the elemental. But she is. Missy is near perfect and I'm... a mess. No good for Missy... or Cecil. Shit. She couldn't hold herself together while her kid was sick. What kind of mother did that make her?
"You were?" She looked up at Missy, tears spattered across her cheekbones. She had no idea that Missy was thinking of vampires, let alone one that she had once had feelings for. If Jadyn had been privy to that knowledge... there really was no telling what she would do. The only certainty was that she would not have taken it well. At all. But then Missy said something that caught the brunette's attention more than the chaotic world outside. Girlfriend. Jadyn's breath caught in her chest as the world hit her and began to sank in. Girlfriend. That meant... Something more serious than she had had in a long time. Was she ready for anything like that? Jadyn knew herself and she knew how well she did in relationships. Missy saying that they were girlfriends suddenly shoved them into that category: the 'relationship' category.
It scared Jadyn, of course it did. She had looked away when Missy let that word slip, her bottom lip retracting into her mouth. Could she handle letting this become a serious relationship? There was only one way to find out if she could, really. It was just a matter of taking that leap of faith and trying it out. But Jadyn kept fast forwarding to the end -- would she survive the fall if it all went to hell?
"You said 'girlfriend.'" She spoke finally, looking back up at Missy. When she sniffled away some of her tears, she could catch the scent of the soap Missy used and a hint of her perfume. It reminded Jadyn of the beach, which made her wonder if Missy would ever want to go to the beach with her. She wasn't one for the sun and all, but the ocean... And it was in that moment that Jadyn realized she wasn't really upset about Missy calling them girlfriends. Releasing her hold on Missy just enough to bring an arm up, she took hold of Missy's hand, squeezing it. "I'm okay with that."
