Charlene had not been expecting any company that evening, but if she had spent any time thinking about it then she would have realized that those were the times when she tended to have the most company. She had expected no one on the night that she had met Roxy or when she had come across Cloelia and that one nice woman whose name she could no longer remember. She had been a landwalker. Ah well, none of that was actually important as she was now distracted by the approach of someone who she did not recognize. But she gave off a slight scent that was different than the ones that the mermaid had become used to. A little... no, scents could not be cold. Oh whatever it was she had interesting hair. It was blonde like Cloelia's but very obviously not wet. And she was speaking.
Angel? A laugh bubbled out at that and Charlene shook her head before she stopped, eyes suddenly caught by the design of the skirt that the woman was wearing. She lifted herself a little further out of the water to get a better glance before she remembered that strangers could be very... dangerous. The one that shot me. She sunk back down and drifted back a little bit, wanting to have some distance in case she had to turn and swim away again. Hopefully without leaving a trail of blood in the water this time. If she ever ended up in the hospital because of a person again then she did not care what Roxy said, she was going to find a way to feed them to her sister. "I'm not an angel," Charlene finally replied, hand coming out of the water to brush her hair back. "Angels... have wings?" She had seen pictures of angels somewhere, or at least she thought she had, and they had definitely had wings coming out of their backs. It would just be silly for a mermaid to have wings. A tail was perfectly serviceable.
