why does fate make us suffer?
WHO | Drina and Ben
WHERE | The Golden Dragon
WHEN | Evening
Working long shifts was nothing new to Drina; she had worked upwards of eighteen hour shifts before. But something was different about working in a place where you were essentially on autopilot rather than constantly thinking and trying to solve a puzzle. Yes, Drina missed her old job. To say the least. She never thought she would be back in an apron and slip resistant shoes. Still, she couldn't really complain - it was honest living. She couldn't explain how it was more exhausting than being a field agent for the FBI. She felt drained of energy and pretty much everything that made her feel like herself. And yet she was managing to stay on her feet and conscious enough to keep track of people's orders. The evening had progressed that way for what had felt like forever. Finally the clock was ticking closer and closer to closing time, when she would be free to return to her small apartment and go back to her silent and miserable existence. Silently, she scolded herself; she wasn't supposed to keep those dreary thoughts. She was trying to move on as best as she could, and she couldn't do that with the constant melancholy. Shaking what thoughts she could, Drina made her way to the newest table. She was used to the late night comers, and she wasn't that annoyed about it tonight. "What could I get for you to drink this evening?" She asked upon arriving at the table. |
