Get farther away in the blink of an eye
Who: Elizaveta and Liliya
Where: Liliya's home
When: Late afternoon
Some days it was impossible even for Liliya to stay in her office the extra hours that most people seemed to view as normal for her. Those days were usually easy for anyone who knew her to pick out - they happened when it was storming. Liliya had nothing against rain but storms always made her mood just that little bit less pleasant. Why? Because they meant that she could not go out into her gardens when she came home. It also meant that she felt a deep-seated need to go and check on each and every plant that had even the smallest packet of dirt mixed among its roots. What if they all got carried away and all she was left with was what she kept in pots inside the house or that little safe in her office? Maureen had ensured that her supply would never run low - and even if it did Liliya had the necklace of it that she was never separated from - but Liliya was still worried about it. She could have had a dump truck of earth from where she had been turned and she still would have worried about whether it would roll away, be covered in oil only to catch fire and burn away so that she was left with nothing... Maureen had informed her more than once that she was being ridiculous about the matter, that all she really needed was the earth in her necklace. All she needed. She had not seen any other members of her family twitching and glancing longingly towards a plant or getting irritable... sighing, Liliya reached over and popped the top off her water bottle to take a long drain of the blood she'd filled it with before leaving the office. Angelic of course and enough to take the edge off her thoughts. She was going to finish the rest of it before she arrived home if she wanted to feel anywhere near as calm as she was going to need to pretend to be.
And she managed to finish it just as she pulled up into the driveway. Muttering about the fact that her outfit was going to get wet, Liliya grabbed her briefcase and hurried inside. Before she even went to get out the blood that she had thought would work for the late lunch she had planned with Elizaveta she made her way around the house, reassuring herself by touching the dirt of each and every plant. She refused to look outside, drawing the shades shut before heading back to the kitchen. Hearing the rain still set up a little echo of irritation in the back of her mind but she managed to ignore it. Normally when she met with other vampires during the day she offered fae blood. But she was sure that Elizaveta would have had some of that on her own. And if she always offered angelic then people were going to start saying that she had an addiction. A completely true accusation but not one that she really needed to be circulated. Instead of either of those she had decided on breaking open the bottle of water and fire elemental blood that Elizaveta had given her on her birthday.
It was times like this, and only times like this, when Liliya wished that Snowball was her familiar so that she could have something to distract her before she went out to check on the garden. Or at least for something interesting to happen. No, she did not count that thing at the arcade as interesting. Maureen thought that she needed to go and engage in the rollerskating to help her appearance and Liliya had to admit that it could possibly be good for her, but the idea of strapping herself into skates and making an idiot out of herself was far from high on her list. Especially since her mood had already been darkened by the rain. It was terrible of her to do but she almost wished that someone would try stirring the waters again just so that she had something interesting to do.
