Someone told me long ago there's a calm before the storm
Who: Maurynna and OPEN
Where: The park

There was a list of things Maurynna could not wrap her head around when it came to humans and their ways, but one of the top ones was why they had the need to take cover whenever the rain came. There was nothing wrong with rain in the human realm. It was just wet. If anything, it made the warm days cooler. So while everyone was busy staying inside or running around like an idiot with something over their heads that they called an umbrella, Maurynna was perfectly fine with sitting in the middle of the park enjoying the rain.

Just the other day she had seen so many people come to this clearing of land, playing games with their friends or sitting back and enjoying a late lunch with loved ones. Now that was something she could support. Why make buildings to eat inside of when you have a perfectly good area of land to do that at? She heard people complain about the weather or not having enough time. Ok, the time she could understand. Humans didn't have the luxury of immortality. That aside, what was holding them back? Maurynna pouted a bit while she walked around the park, wearing only a sundress as she investigated the tiny animals that did come out when the rain was pouring down. It's not even raining that hard. Now and then she spotted someone walking by in a rush to avoid the rain and even when she smiled at them, they gave her an odd look, as if it wasn't normal to enjoy the rain. "Humans are odd," she told a little bunny that had been following her around for ten minutes now. At least the human world did have adorable creatures.

Rain or shine, walking through the park was an excellent way for Capri to clear her mind after a night of strange dreams and sleepwalking. She wore her trench coat to cover her clothes, boots on her feet and carried an umbrella over her head. It may have only been a simple shower, but she wanted to stay dry and avoid frizzy hair. The open space of the park was extremely relaxing. Capri took a quick glance at her watch and then slowed her brisk pace; she had enough time to take in her surroundings. Adding to the natural beauty of the park, was the cutest, little rabbit. She approached the creature slowly, not wanting to startle it. She was vaguely aware of the other girl nearby and as she walked closer, she could see that the girl had nothing to keep her from the rain. It made her wonder if the stranger hadn't heard the weather reports that morning, forgot to prepare, or simply didn't care.

It felt awkward to stand near another person where there was so much empty space around them and Capri considered offering to share her umbrella. But she didn't know how long the girl was going to be in the park, or which direction she was headed in. And besides, the girl was already wet. An umbrella wouldn't change that. "He's cute." Capri murmured instead, deciding that it was better than utter silence.

Speaking of humans, it turned out that there was one who didn't fear the rain so much. Granted, this one was better equipped for the rain than Maurynna was, but that was merely an opinion. If anything, Maurynna was happy to meet someone. Getting to know the humans better meant more she could report on for the fae back home. And how perfect! She seemed to like the bunny, too. I wonder if they're gifted in ways to hears thoughts of animals, as well. Or maybe even with each other. She never found the chance to ask, or more importantly, a reason to do so.

Instead, she smiled and nodded. "He is, isn't he?" A couple thoughts from the bunny ran through her mind, mostly concerned about the human girl being a threat. "There there, I won't let you get hurt." Maurynna bent down to scoop up the bunny and stroke his damp fur. Once the creature calmed down, she walked closer to the other girl. She physically looked older than the fae, but that never stopped Maurynna from striking up a conversation. "Would you like to pet him? He doesn't bite." Any human who liked nature and its gifts were good in Maurynna's book.

Capri returned the smile, and then raised an eyebrow when Maurynna moved to pick up the bunny. Surely, he would instinctively scamper off or bite her. Her expression displayed even more surprise when Maurynna was successful, but the surprise soon faded as the other girl spoke to him. It must have been her pet. It seemed a bit odd to let him wander about the park where he could get hurt or lost. She thought a small bunny like that would normally live inside or in a backyard when once it had been domesticated. It may have even belonged in a cage or a pen. Someplace safe.

Despite her concerns, Capri couldn't pass up the chance to touch the small creature and she moved forward when invited, petting him extremely gently with one hand. Her other hand was still holding up her umbrella. She was very careful not to touch Maurynna. Capri was still figuring out her psychic abilities and the last thing she wanted to do was to see a stranger's dream. "You're adorable. Yes, you are." She murmured in a calming voice she reserved for small children and animals. She then glanced at the girl who she assumed to be the owner and returned to her normal speaking voice. "Have you had him long? He is yours, isn't he?"

Maurynna couldn't help but smile more as she watched the human and bunny interact. The little fuzz ball was beyond happy with getting some attention. See? Humans weren't that terrible. Granted, she did see one of those hunks of metal on wheels ruthlessly run over a squirrel the other day, but she tried not to dwell on that. Why humans favored their technology over nature was beyond her.

"Hmm?" She blinked her eyes upon receiving the question, then shook her head. "Not long. I found him all by himself, curled up under a bush not too long ago." Maybe she'd find the bunny's family or at least find a safe, dry home for him. Something told her that Zephyr would have been jealous if she came back to her tree home with an animal intact. Jealous familiar was jealous. "I suppose he's mine for now. Hard to say no to animals." She pulled the tiny animal close to her chest to keep him warm, stroking his fur idly while looking over to the girl. "He's says thank you for being nice."

Capri pulled her hand back slowly and returned to simply looking at the rabbit. He wasn't a pet after all; she was almost unable to believe it as the other girl cuddled him even closer. Capri usually left animals alone if they were not used to human contact. That would teach her to make assumptions. After the park, Capri's next stop would be the nearest drug store for a bottle of hand sanitizer. As cute and tame as the little bunny was, he could be diseased.

For now, Capri was content to watch him. She fought the urge to roll her eyes and an amused smirk tugged at her lips when the stranger spoke on the rabbit's behalf. Talking to animals was one thing. The little creature seem to respond to their tone of voice. Pretending that the animal talked back was something else entirely. The other girl was younger than she was, but not that young. "Right." Capri said, her voice laced with a hint of sarcasm. "Tell him he's welcome."
