Hi all!

So there's another festival coming up -- yule! It's actually on Monday (Dec. 22) but we're going to post on the weekend so people have more time to play. It'll be a fairly traditional yule (food, burning the yule log, decorated tree).

Since there are multiple traditions among the various residents of LeChance, the city celebration will be fairly generic. However, your characters are more than welcome to also celebrate how they wish (religious ceremonies, Christmas tree, presents, large straw animals, etc, etc.)

Also! We have a bit of plot coming up but we're going to try something different. If you'd like to participate in the plot (instead of us choosing who notices what), please respond here! (Also, please only opt-in with two of your characters and with a new comment for each)

Just trying to figure out costs of living for the game time frame, and thought other peeps may find this link to be of use. It gives some average wages for skilled labourers, and down on p41-2 it gives prices for basic household costs.. interesting stuff!

I have failed at coming up with an idea for you all for the holidays, so I'm reverting to an old favorite: If you would like a piece of holiday art, rep here and tell me what! I'm up for banners, icons, manips, practically anything! It could even not be game related if you prefer (gasp!).

Hi! Up in the community you will see letters to each of your characters with instructions from your matchmaker for the next round of courting.

However! You have an option this time. Ascendants may ask Beloveds to attend the Harvest Festival in lieu of a more "formal" courting call and have it "count" as courting. They can't just randomly meet there, it has to be agreed upon before. You don't have to, of course, but it's there as an option.

Santiago!mun – Since we're short one Ascendant, he gets to pay two calls this round; please let us know if that doesn't work for you.

All else remains the same.

1-Ascendant players: Set it up. PM your Beloved to arrange a time for you two to thread. If you don't get a reply within 3 days let us know. If there's no reply by the end of the week, the player's going to get a warning for not playing within that week.

2- Beloved Players. If you don't hear from the ascendant player within 3 days tell us! If nothing in a week, then the player's going to get a warning for not playing within that week.

3- All players! If we matched you up with yourself- two options. 1- Thread with yourself. 2- don't thread, but don't ping us.

Again, keep in mind (still!) these are by no means final matches: This is Leroy spying on you to see how you interact.

The weather is starting to turn in LeChance and the growing season is over. To celebrate, LeRoy is sponsoring a harvest festival this weekend!

There will be many traditional activities: A crying of the neck (see below), the last crop brought in on a decorated wagon, pulled by a decorated horse, a thanksgiving service for the spiritually inclined, corn dollies and a huge feast at the main gathering hall (the buildings next to the common market that also house the nickelodeon). There will be lots of food (of course), dancing, singing and games. It should be noted that this is not Thanksgiving as we know it and can incorporate traditions from many cultures.

Hokay so! We failed a bit on following through plot. Things went a bit pear-shaped for us and there was confusion BUT! There is an official announcement going up momentarily to announce the following:

The LeChance train that was meant to return from the fire town after 3 weeks (5 days ago), didn't. In fact, the answer to the message sent to inquire about it says the train never came at all (thanks a lot). Leroy's FREAKING OUT. He's trying to hide it though. He just sucks at it. Leroy is saying that *everyone* chose to stay in the other town rather than returning to LeChance but the messenger is leaking out the truth -- that the train never arrived.

No polite way to put this, so umm.. here goes. What contraception is currently available to our lovely folk? I'm presuming either linen or 'skin' condoms at least, as described by Wiki here. With our society progressing slightly differently, and with such a responsible approach to sexuality, is it likely that advances in reproductive health would be in advance of a similiar time in the 'real world'?

Um. Are we assuming that artificial insemination is already available in our steampunk society? Or does a woman have to have sex with a man to get pregnant? *g*

Soo.. as you can see on the main comm, telegraphs have gone out to those Jonas think may be useful to invite to his meeting. 

This is to discuss the ongoing plot/ noises etc. The telegraphs don't require a yay or nay in response, but I've left the post open, in case any of your charries want to make a personal response.

The meeting is going to be informal in nature, and so there's no problems if the charries involved want to bring others with them ie friends/partners. Please bear in mind though that anyone wishing to attend the actual meeting would have had to have had some way of either seeing the invite, or to have been asked along by someone who has. This meeting isn't going to be made widespread knowledge around town in advance of it ie. no other notifications other than the telegraphs.

I'm planning to start up the post early tomorrow evening my time. I'm planning on it being an 'open to all' type post if this is okay with everyone? I'm not too worried about the post happening in 'real time', so don't worry about joining the meeting 'late'. Just assume that your charrie arrived at 6pm on Sunday evening. Well unless you want them to actually be *late* obvs..
