Who: Raleigh Weasley & Saxen Krum
What: a picnic lunch
When: Saturday around noon
Where: by the lake
Rating: mild so far
Status: open

Raleigh had meant what he had said about wanting to catch up with his friends. He really was interested in what they had been doing all summer. Though he had managed to keep up with most, with at least one owl sent between them, there were still a lot of details left out in quick notes. And of course, he had particular interest in his friends that happened to be female and beautiful. Saxen fell under both of those categories. Raleigh was more than happy to set aside the time to spend an afternoon having lunch with her.

Never one to be late, actually the opposite, Raleigh was already at the lake's edge with plenty of time to set up for their luncheon. He had chosen a spot where the September sun could reach them but they were still shaded by a [thankfully] innocuous variety of a willow. Being Head Boy had its benefits, and he was allowed entrancce into one of the older storage rooms. A trip to said room earlier in the morning proved fruitful. There he found an older but still well kept blanket that had been used in the Ravenclaw dorms several years back. It would be perfect to lay down and give them something other than the grass to sit on. With the blanket spread out, Raleigh sat down with the basket that over eager house elves had packed for Raleigh and Saxen's lunch. He of course, had given them a menu of things he was sure that Saxen liked.

There was a nice breeze in the air, making the afternoon quite comfortable. With a few minutes to spare, Raleigh pulled out a small worn book that he had tucked into the basket just in case he did end up with time to wait. He cracked it open, bringing his knees up and planting his feet flat on the ground while he got comfortable. After a tug at the bottom of his khaki trousers, Raleigh was settled again and immediately engrossed in his book. Saxen would be there soon. He was patient.

Saxen was really looking forward to spending some time with Raleigh, she always loved spending time with him. It wasn't as if she didn't talk to him some over the holiday, but it wasn't as much as she probably would have liked. Saxen had a busy summer to say the least, but she didn't mind. Being back at school was nice, and oddly hard for her. She was challenged most of the time both at home and at school, but school was always a little bit different.

Saxen wasn't the type of girl to keep people waiting. Her mother always told her about how with a meal with a man one shouldn't rush to get ready. Saxen never took that advice, she'd been out for a run before she was going to have lunch with Raleigh. She took a quick shower tossing on some clothing. Saxen didn't even realize what shirt she had on until she was outside of the common room. She laughed when she noticed it was on that her sister had given her for Christmas, it was a well cut fancy top that Saxen normally didn't wear, and it didn't exactly go perfectly with the long flowing brown skirt she'd tossed on.

Saxen laughed at herself as she headed towards the lake. Finding Raleigh wasn't hard at all. She smiled as she saw the blanket and him reading. She slowed down her steps avoiding all tree branches, anything that could make a sound. She even slipped off her sandals as she moved close and closer behind him. As she got closer the grin on her face got bigger and bigger.

Stepping on something just behind him to make some sort of sound her hands darted in front of his eyes. She didn't say anything, she just laughed.

Raleigh really could get caught up in reading. The words seemed to pull him in and within minutes he let the pages take him to another world. And even though the book in his hands happened to be his favorite, one that he had read and reread countless times, it still had the same effect on him.

So as Saxen crept up behind him, Raleigh really didn't have to play at being completely oblivious to her being there. It wasn't until the twig snapped under her feet that he glanced up. Even then it was too late. He got a quick view of the lake before delicate hands covered his eyes and made the world go black.

A grin curled on his lips as his hands marked his page and tossed his book to the side, even without being able to see a thing. He heard the laughter and it was quickly followed by his own. "That," he began slowly. "is the sound of laughter coming from one Ms. Krum," Raleigh began. His hands moved up to cover hers as he softly pulled them from his face. "A Saxen Krum, to be exact," Raleigh elaborated. He immediately turned around, and moved up on his knees as he faced her. He was still holding her hands during all of this and now he was lifting one to his lips to give her a soft kiss.

Dropping her hand, Raleigh scooted over a bit to make room for her on the blanket. He leaned back to a sitting position and opened up the basket, pulling out a bottle of butterbeer and silently offering it to her. "And how are?" he asked her. Raleigh took a sip from his own bottle. "You look lovely," Raleigh added, meaning it. She was so casual in the way she dressed, yet it worked well for her. The emphasis was on her face.

Saxen didn't stop laughing until after he dropped her hands. She was still grinning though. It was easy to keep a smile on her face when she wasn't around anything or anyone that would make her feel like she had to be serious. Saxen moved taking a seat still smiling. She looked over at him for a moment before taking the butterbeer.

"Thank you." She said as she took it and opened it at once. She took a sip before she answered, she was sort of thirsty after all. "I'm good. How are you?" She asked before a blush crossed across her face. Saxen would forever blush when a good looking guy complimented her, she used to try and not blush. She used to look away and get really nervous. Now she just blushed and kept going on with whatever was going on. It still made her nervous, she just didn't show it as much.

"Thank you." She said again laughing slightly. "Keep it up and the whole time we are down here I'll just be saying thank you." She teased as she leaned back onto her elbows as she glanced out over to the lake. She got a bit of a wistful look on her face for a moment before she looked back up to Raleigh. "So how is being Head Boy? Get into any trouble yet?" She teased.

Raleigh was amused. He also felt good because he seemed to be putting a smile on Saxen's face. And that, of course, was what he was aiming for. He stretched out his legs in front of him to get more comfortable and finally crossed an ankle over the other. Leisurely, he took sips from his butterbeer.

"I'm just fine," he nodded. "I'm settled back in, still coming to terms with the fact that this is our last year. But other than that, no complaints. And that's not really a complaint," he figured.

Raleigh studied her while she glanced over the lake. He noticed the sort of melancholy look on her face but didn't say anything after and before he thought any more about it Saxen had snapped out of her daze and was carrying on conversation again. Her questions made him grin, a completley guilty curl of his lip.

"No. No trouble," he insisted. "Now why would you say a thing like that?" he asked her.

"It's sort of nice it is the last year though, real world here we come." She said with a soft thoughtful smile on her face. Saxen was looking forward to getting out of school sometimes. She did love it, but she knew some of the people she really cared about didn't, and besides a change would be really nice. They'd be done and out before they knew it probably, but at least when they did get out she had a feeling most of her mates would do very well. Her brother however she worried about.

Saxen didn't even notice him watching her as she looked out over the lake. It wasn't something she would have minded though. Saxen wasn't worried really about someone she knew looking at her while she was off in a different world, people she didn't know made her nervous.

Saxen smirked at his grin. "Hmm. I wonder, that look on your face for one, and two, this is you Raleigh." She said shrugging innocently.

It was funny that those were the words that Saxem chose to use. Real world. It seemed like everything Raleigh had ever done was to prepare him for the real world. Except now that he stood on the brink of this supposed place, he didn't know what he wanted to do with himself once he was there. Perhaps that was why it seemed so hard to come to terms with this being his last year here. He nodded with Saxen's review of this being a nice sort of thing though, because he could see where she was coming from. And yes, there was definitely a part of him that was excited to be at this point finally.

"What look?" Raleigh asked, laughing boyishly as he leaned back again. He sputtered out another laugh and lifted his arms questioningly as a forced innocent look spread over his face. "This is me," he grinned, placing a hand on his chest. "Rule Abiding Head Boy Me" Raleigh said as it it were a pledge. "No trouble here," he added again.

After the laughter subsided, Raleigh looked over at Saxen and gave her a friendly smile. "Really though. I am interested to hear how your summer holiday was. I think we exchanged two or so owls, but that was hardly enough detail. It sounded like you were well though..." Raleigh prompted.

Saxen had it easy though, she knew she'd play professional Quidditch. That had been mapped out for years now. For it was sort of more of a getting closer to a dream. She didn't know what team she'd end up on yet, but she knew she'd end up on a team. After all she'd been getting looked at for a few years now to play professionally. That was easy for her, she sometimes forgot that not everyone had things as well planned out as she did.

Saxen laughed shaking her head at him. "You keep telling yourself that, but sorry wont believe it." She said shrugging slightly. "You oh so loving of the rules Head Boy." She teased smiling at him again.

Saxen thought about it for a moment, sure the few owls but it hadn't been much, truthfully she missed Raleigh over the summer, she missed a lot of people over the summer... But she did miss Raleigh a bit more than some others.

"Summer was busy, good but busy. Spent a lot of time playing Quidditch, spent a number of days working with promising young players. Spent a lot of time visiting the Towler's Kairi is getting big too fast. I know, I know she's a year younger and a little taller than me, but she's still little in my mind for some reason sometimes." She said shrugging slightly. Everyone knew Saxen was really close with Olie Wood and Dustin Towler, it was sort of hard not to know that. Saxen shrugged thinking for a moment. "Honestly busy is the best way to describe it all. I managed to get my father to look at flats for after school, he didn't really like the idea of us all growing up, and he didn't like the idea that I wanted to not live with either of my siblings." She said. "But besides that, Quidditch.... That's about it." She finished, sure it wasn't a lot of detail, but it was some.

"What about you? Break a lot of hearts this summer?" She asked with a playful push to his shoulder.

Raleigh began to unpack the lunch that he had brought for them both as Saxen started to give details on her summer. He was looking in the basket and pulling out wrapped sandwichs when she mentioned Quidditch. A knowing smile caught his mouth while he laid out the food on the blanket. Fruit followed and then little a small tray of chocolate truffles for dessert.

After everything was out, Raleigh looked back up at Saxen to listen to her finish her story. He reached over and grabbed up an apple. After shining it up on the edge of his pants, he bit into it and nodded. He knew exactly what she meant about feeling like Kairi was getting old so quickly. He was experiencing the very same thing with a million little Weasley cousins running around the halls of Hogwarts these days.

Raleigh swallowed the bite that was in his mouth. "Ya know, sometimes it's a good thing to establish your own identity," he told her thoughtfully. "I don't think having your own place is such a bad idea," he added. "And besides, did you explain to him that you've practically been living away from them since you started here? Or is it still that he wants to keep you all relatively close for his own benefit?" Raleigh laughed, thinking of his own family and what their reasonings for something like that might be.

"Help yourself, by the way" Raleigh offered, tapping the plate that was set out for her. He arched his eyebrow and smiled at her again. "Did I do well enough?" he asked referring to her playful threat to make sure everything was just as she liked it.

Raleigh took a minute to think about his summer holiday and what he had been doing. Her question amused him once again and he was laughing in no time. His body moved a bit with her nudge. "Ummmm.....No" he said decidely. No to the breaking of hearts. He hadn't had a summer fling to speak of. He was too busy, to be honest. "No, my father scheduled out most of my time for me. I spent a lot of nights having dinner with officials from the Ministry. Which will pay off next year and all, but it wasn't the most exciting way to spend an evening. Um..." Raleigh thought for a moment about anything interesting he might have done. He shrugged. "It wasn't all bad. I spent a lot of time with my cousins. And they're always a riot."

Saxen nodded agreeing with him. "I don't think it is such a bad idea either, it should have been pretty clear over the last 7 years that I've sort of been doing my own thing, away from both Alyssa and Miklos. It's not as if I haven't been living away from them for a long time now." She said shrugging slightly. "Honestly I think he might just worry a little because I'm not as close to them, he wants us all to be close. It's not like I'm not close to them in some ways, just not as close. He worries, I think that is a fathers job though." She said shrugging slightly. "Yea, completely for his own benefit I think. It's hard for him to see us go different ways I think." She added as she reached for a sandwich.

Grinning she looked up at him. "You did very well!" She said honestly, she knew he'd get something she liked after all, it wasn't as if they hadn't spent time together over the past few years. "Good job!" She added to state the point again.

Saxen started to unwrap the sandwich giggling slightly at his reacting to her question. She gave him a curious look when he said he didn't, but she couldn't really speak as she'd just taken a bite of the sandwich. Saxen listened to him carefully nodding a bit. It seemed fathers were really good at pushing their 7th year kids into finding exactly what they were planning on doing after school.

"Wow, dinner with Ministry officials, that sounds... like a party." She was of course joking, again... "But really that sounds like it could have been interesting, and you're right it'll help out for next year. Any of them actually a lot of fun?" She asked tilting her head. She figured one of them had to be oddly amusing, she just didn't know which one.

"Yes, you and your extremely big family!" She said grinning. "I can only imagine what that was like." Saxen didn't have a large family really.

Raleigh knew that Saxen wasn't like her other siblings. It was pretty obvious. Raleigh wasn't close to either Miklos or Alyssa, but he knew who they were, of course. And he had heard Saxen talk of them plenty of times. He admired her for being strong enough to do her own thing though there was plenty of pressure to stick with her siblings. He imagined so, at least.

"I'm glad," he grinned back at her when she said she approved of what he had brought. "You had me pretty intimidated," he joked around, giving her that flirtatious and still so easily casual smile. "Alright, not really. I was pretty sure that in these six or so years that I could figure out what to pack in a lunch for us both." Raleigh gave his apple core a chuck and watched as a bird flew down to pick at it. "And the chocolates... I knew were one of your favorites," he added proudly.

Raleigh was starting his sandwich by that time. It was a low process though because he was laughing and talking with Saxen too much. "Oh yes!" Raleigh mused. "A party," he repeated Saxen's choice of words. "You can only imagine how wild things can get in The Department of International Magical Cooperation," Raleigh said in a mock excited tone. "Man, do they have some stories," he added with a unconvincing nod. He stopped the act and took another bite of his sandwich, thinking for a few minutes. "Nah. They're not bad people, but they were all just like my dad. And the dinners are really uptight. Very professional. Not a lot of personal talk so it was hard to get to know them as people," Raleigh sighed. It was one of the things he had been thinking about. He had always pictured himself in a more upbeat friendlier environment. And though not all of the Departments had to be like this, Raleigh was sure that there just wasn't a lot of room for antics at the Ministry. But at the same time, there had to be a time when he grew up a little. He had a feeling he would be reminded of this all year. He was lost in his own thoughts for just a moment, before sighing and recollecting himself, determined to not let this subject dampen his mood or his lunch date with Saxen.

"That's an understatement, darling" Raleigh chuckled over the comment about his family. He tilted the bottle of butterbeer towards her as he spoke. "It's confusing," he added. "Can you imagine trying to pick out one of us in a crowd of Weasleys?" Raleigh joked. He meant nothing bad by it. He loved his family. Everything about it. In fact, he was pretty positive that that was a general consensus among the Weasley clan. They were a quite proud bunch.

Saxen smirked at him slightly. "Yea, if you didn't know what I liked by now I think I'd be really worried about you." She said honestly with a shrug and a smirk. Saxen would be worried about him. The proud way he went on about the chocolates made her laugh slightly. "You know me too well." She teased leaning over and kissing his check. "Good job." She added before going back to her food.

"I don't know Raleigh I think you should for something where you can have more fun. I don't know much about the ministry, but it doesn't sound like loads of laughs." She said honestly shrugging slightly. Saxen would rather see him do something fun with people he could have with. "But maybe one of the departments is more fun than the others. Who knows?" She said shrugging trying to think of a positive way to go about it. Besides she didn't know much about it minus the people who came to whatever stupid party her father had been forced to go to and had decided to drag his kids along as well. Saxen never really liked those things, she didn't like talking to people when they were acting like cardboard. She'd rather have a fun or a real conversation. She'd managed to get some of the people to talk in those stuck up people to come back to the living... But very few and it was always a lot more work than she really wanted to deal with.

Saxen laughed slightly. "Very true, at least not all of you have red hair!" She teased with a wink. Saxen liked the Weasley's over all. She didn't know all of them, it would be sort of impossible for her to know all of them, but she did know a handful of them and the ones she did know she liked. "At least you all get along well." She said with a friendly smile. Saxen paused thinking of her own cousins. "With us it is really just who has light hair and who has dark hair, pretty cut and dry." Saxen didn't mind her cousins, but she didn't fully like them either. They were after all very different.

The corner of Raleigh's mouth turned up slightly as Saxen moved in to kiss his cheek. His lips moved subtley to return the light peck before she moved away. "Thank you, thank you," he grinned, reacting to her praise.

As they continued to talk about future career plans and the Ministry, Raleigh mostly nodded. The points that Saxen were making were ones that he had been thinking about as well. It was nice to know that he wasn't necessarily alone in his thoughts. But at the same time, he felt like perhaps it was just a young person's view on the subject and that he should rethink his doubts and start looking at things from a more responsible perspective. Was that him or Percy talking? "Mmm," Raleigh mumbled in agreement to Saxen's statements. He looked sort of distant and in a moment he realized that he wasn't going to be able to carry on a pleasant conversation if he kept letting himself get sidetracked with his own issues. So he pushed them away, this time for good.

Thank goodness for a more light hearted subject to follow. "And what's wrong with red hair, miss?" Raleigh asked, narrowing his gaze on Saxen as if she were in trouble though his demeanor was completely playful. He was laughing before he could carry out this mock angry act. "We do, yes. It's like our own little network to call upon if we should need...well, just about anything," Raleigh smiled. It was a nice feeling. Though there were plenty of practical jokes and the occasional snips between the cousins, they all knew that they could count on each other for just about anything.

As Raleigh listened to Saxen, he began to clean up after them. He took the plates and set them back in the basket, and made sure that any left over bits were into a small trash bag that he had brought. He knew that the house elves would take care of things like that, but why couldn't he if he was able. After all, this was for his own leisure, not a mandatory meal and part of their job description. Raleigh had organized everything so it fit back perfectly and had been scooted out of their way. He dusted off his hands by brushing them together and looked back to Saxen.

"Time for dessert?" he asked once he had finished. He moved in closer to Saxen, sitting directly beside her now with a palm flat on the blanket for leverage as he reached to the dish of chocolates. Bringing a truffle back, he held it up just at her lips, offering her a bite.

Saxen was curious what his thoughts were, but when was Saxen not curious about something? The world would probably have to stop for her not to be curious about something. However it was pretty clear he didn't really want to talk about it at the moment, and she wasn't going to push it. If he wanted to talk about it some other time she'd be there. She'd always be there to talk about just about anything. Although she wasn't really found of talking about her mother. That was one thing she liked to skip over.

"Well nothing... For the rest of your family. You however....." She teased reaching up and messing with his hair a little. Saxen really didn't mind red hair, teasing Raleigh about it was much to fun! She really enjoyed that. Besides it was so much easier to tease red heads. It was a more fun colour, but that wasn't something she was going to bring up at the moment. She wasn't really sure she wanted to go on about it right now, of course she easily could, she just figured that could be saved for a light night studying day.

"You're really lucky with your family." She said with a friendly smile. Saxen was truthfully a little bit jealous about the sort of family Raleigh was from. She couldn't help but be, yet at the same time she really did love her siblings and her father. Her cousins were a mixed bag, and her mother... she loved but wasn't close to and never would be. Saxen shrugged slightly pushing those thoughts from her mind. It was good timing too, he said something else.

Saxen smiled at him with a saucy little smile. Of course she was excited for the truffle, she bit her lower lip with a look of, 'perhaps I shouldn't' that look didn't last long and she moved ever so slightly forward taking a small bite of the truffle. She shut her eyes as she chewed slowly, who one earth could chew something that good fast? A slow smile curled up her face she finally finished.

Raleigh closed his eyes and cringed just a bit as Saxen reached in to ruffle his hair. He laughed with her and shook his head when she pulled back. With a mildy concerned hand, he pushed his hair back into place. "See. You love it," Raleigh teased her, chuckling to himself.

He nodded very knowingly at Saxen's comment about his family. "It's the truth," he agreed. What else was there to say?

There was a sly grin on Raleigh's face to match the one on Saxen's as she moved in to take a bite of the chocolate. Her mouth moved slowly, and Raleigh's eyes were drawn to her lips and the way they moved around the truffle carefully. He pulled back gently once her teeth had sunk into the melty chocolate. Raleigh leaned in a bit, and lifted a finger to wipe the corner of her mouth smoothly. "There," he said quietly. "Now I want a taste," he easily said keeping a softness to his voice. Raleigh cast his gaze to Saxen's eyes and locked them there.

Saxen did enjoy messing up his hair, actually she enjoyed messing up most of her mates hair... At least the blokes. She giggle softly as he pushed his hair back into place, Saxen really did believe that men worried about their hair anymore.

Something about truffles always got to her, always made her a bit softer, a little bit less of a guard up, not that she ever had a guard up around Raleigh, it did still calm her down some... Well at least the more messing up hair side of her.

She opened her eyes as she felt his finger on the corner of her mouth, she smiled softly at him. "Is that so?" She asked him without taking her eyes away. She could sit like that for hours, she felt herself smile a little bit more, with a hint at a small blush, she never could control that. "I suppose you should take a taste." She said not moving at all.

"It is," Raleigh grinned back flirtatiously at her with just a hint of a teasing laugh to his voice. He never took his eyes off of her though. They sparkled back at her, taking in how naturally beautiful she was for a few moments before he decided to make any move.

He didn't need to feel out the mood, he was certain that Saxen and he were on the page as far as what they wanted to happen next. But Raleigh was a gentleman and he waited for that last bit of permission from Saxen. And with that, Raleigh closed the gap between the two. His lips pressed against hers softly, sucking very gently on her bottom lip before he let his tongue drag over her lips to line them.

Raleigh pulled back, not wanting to see pushy in the least. "As sweet as I remember," he grinned back slyly at her, licking over his lips.

Saxen knew it was coming, she knew he'd kiss her, it was almost a given, yet part of her was still a little bit unsure, part of her wasn't sure if he would kiss her or not. The insecure part that she still had. It was never something she understood about herself, but it was part of who she was. Saxen watched his eyes, nothing else as he moved closer to her. She pushed her lips back against his for a moment as she was lost in the feeling of his tongue a moment later.

Saxen wasn't sure how she let herself fall into kissing him so easily, but she never didn't like it, so it really wasn't a problem at all. Besides it was good to have someone like Raleigh around, he always made her feel pretty, or good about herself. What else could a girl want out of a mate?

She smiled at him as he pulled back her eyes slowly fluttering open. A smirk crossed her lips. "Hmmm... Glad to hear it." She said biting her lower lip with a bigger smile crossing her lips.

Raleigh's eyes were open the entire time, watching Saxen's reaction as he kissed her. He had always been a people pleaser and the desire to do so came through in just about everything he did. Of course, that's not to say that Raleigh didn't enjoy every moment that their lips were pressed together.

"I didn't expect anything less," Raleigh smiled devilishly back at her. He winked at Saxen and turned his attention a bit, reaching for the other half of the chocolate and finishing it as if nothing had just happened.

"So tell me your prediction, Saxen, my dear. Will Ravenclaw take all in Quidditch this year? I'd love to see that you know, in our last year," Raleigh asked with interest.

Saxen always found it amusing how completely 'normal' everything seemed after kissing him. He'd kiss her and it was nothing. She'd merely go along with it, even if she still never really understood how things like that worked. She did adore him regardless of anything on the odd level.

Saxen laughed shrugging slightly going with the change in conversation. "We have a lot of work to do, and a few loose canons to watch out for. Honestly I'm tempted to ask a few to take a step back and let our reserve players have a shot. I think I need to mix it up some more. Sure we've got the starting line, but I want the starting line to change some. I want to use the reserves more. Even if it means I personally don't get as much playing time. If we need some of our better passers up to bid time, why not?" Saxen could talk about Quidditch all day long. She also worried about it a lot more than most things.
