The days have dragged on with excruciating slowness as the impending winter drew closer, the year coming to another close. At least that was how it all seemed to one Phoenix Malfoy. The weather has declined in the Hogwarts most significantly of late, the dark clouds looming over the gray skies now a constant even in the mornings, but nothing compared to the general mood of every other character in the castle. On top of this, it was perhaps the worst day for Potions. The cold air that circulated the castle seemed to intensify in the dungeons. Feeling the dryness in his throat, Phoenix's cold hand istinctively raised to cover his mouth as a cough rose to his lips. Shuddering, he drew his robes tighter around his slender form, and tightened the green and silver scarf around his neck. Unconsciously, he found himself moving closer to person beside him, seeking what warmth she could perhaps afford him with her nearness. He was mostly impartial to physical contact, though there was something about the girl beside him that made him not mind such a thing at all, and kept him at ease.

Raising his head, he chanced a look at her, before his eyes returned to the lecture he was jotting down on his parchments. It had been a surprise even to himself that he found himself taking the lone available seat beside her in the room, when he had arrived later that morning than he ususally did. Usually, he took the chair at the far corner, but it appeared occupied once he had arrived much to his annoyance. His movements were calculated when he took the seat beside her, almost as if he was unsure if she would approve of this new seating arrangement. It had only occured to him then that the two of them had been sharing a few classes for a while, but t was only after their day together that he had taken a real look at her. Now, he couldn't seem to stop being conscious of her presence, that concentrating seemed harder to do, much to his surprise. He candidly wondered distantly if she minded the fact that they were part of feuding families, but didn't quite understand why his mind led him to that train of thought.

Classes ended without him even noticing much of what had happened in class. Odd. Packing his things slowly, he was aware of her moving in his periphery but otherwise didn't talk to her. It was when he had seen her moving that he found himself looking up, then very suddenly noticed she had left her scarf on her seat. He didn't spare a moment for pondering. Grabing his bag in one had, he took hold on her scarf in his free hand and followed after her. The students that had filed out of the room lingered on the hall outside, but it was strangey too easy for him to spot her in the crowd. Moving quickly, and gracefully through the clusters of students he was able to catch up with her. "Dominique." he said faintly, once he was right behind her, hoping she heard him and would turn around.

Potions was probably Dominique's least favourite class. And classroom too. It was so dark and cold, definitely univiting. Many times she found herself wrapping her arms around her own torso in order to keep some of the heat that was leaving her body so quickly. Although there were times where her body regained all that warmth almost immediately. Whenever her new partner shifted closer, her cheeks would turn pink and her body would stay warm for a few seconds.

She had shared classes with Phoenix before, but he had never had such an effect on her. But ever since their walk and little adventure in the Forbidden Forest, Dominique found herself unable to get him out of her mind. She wasn¡t thinking about him all the time, but there were moments during the day where she would catch a glimpse of him at breakfast, or leaving a class, or just saw something that remind her somewhow of him, and the memories of those moments they shared would come back to her.

It didn't surprise her that she hadn't been able to concentrate on what the professor was saying, and was only aware of the class ending when she saw the rest of her classmates moving. Jumping lightly, like she had been in a dream and someone had just woken her up, she began to pack her things, only half aware of what she was taking with her. She took last glace at Phoenix, feeling how her cheeks flushed light pink again, and exited the room.

She didn't know she had forgotten her scar until she moved her arms to wrap it tightly around her neck and found she wasn't there. She hadn't even think of turning around to go and find it yet when she heard his voice. It was a voice she easily recognized, even if she hadn't heard it for too long. She turned around, running a hand through her blonde hair, and smiled at him. "Hi Phoenix."

Her sudden turn stirred the long blonde locks that crowned her head. Phoenix caught her scent almost instantly, and the smell she left was one that was sweet, enticing, and it lingered faintly in the small space now left between their bodies. For a moment, he merely looked deep in the light blue eyes that caught him off guard when she spoke but thankfully he was soon able to recover from this momentary stupor. "Hello." His voice was low, slightly breathless from the effort he had to exert to catch up with her on time just seconds before. Now, he distantly wondered why he had even gone to her and spoken to her, when they evidently didn't feel the need to for the hours they had spent inside the classroom. The scarf was his excuse, he knew, even though he was trying not to dwell on those thoughts too much. "You left your scarf on your desk." Raising one hand, he extended the scarf towards her where the garment laid carefully on his open palm. His eyes never left hers, and he waited patiently for her to take it.

Dominique had to admit it had been slighlt strange being so close to him for a couple of hours and not say a word to each other; especially after the special moment they shared in the Forbidden Forest. But she didn't worry about it too much, not when he was talking to her now. She couldn't help but wonder if she left her scarf uncounciously there so they'd talk.

"Oh, thank you! I was wondering where it was." She said with a grateful smile. Her hand reached out to take the scarf and her fingers accidentaly -- or so she told herself -- brushed his hand as she did. She felt her cheeks turning slightly pink, but she never looked away from him.

The unexpected soft caress of such seeming fragile fingers sent a shiver down his spine. This caught Phoenix by surprise, and he suddenly felt like he wanted to pull his robes tighter against his body. What was that? It was only when she was about to pull her scarf back that he had noticed the deep flush that had stained her defined cheeks. Before the scarf completely fell from his fingers, his hand closed around it and pulled it back gently with the slightest tug of his fingers. "You're colder that you're making it seem. Your cheeks are flushed." he said, oblivious to the feelings that were stirring inside her. Stepping forward, he wound the material gently around her neck- a mask of concentration on his face- and tied it loosely for her, before stepping back. For a moment he just looked at her, waiting for any sort of response that would perhaps leave him appeased. Should he just bid her goodbye and just walk away? "I suppose you should be heading off to your next class then?"

Dominique was surprised at his actions when he didn't let go off the scarf. For a moment there she frowned ligtly and looked questioningly at him. But her questions were answered the second he spoke and moved forward to her.

But was he seriously thinking she was blushing because she was cold? She didn't imagine someone like Phoenix would be so obvlivious to the subtle flirting and obvious reactions her body had when it was next to his... But it seemed like he was. "Thanks." She said with a smile, wrapping the scarf a little tighter around her neck. "I don't have any class now." She replied. "I was thinking of going to the library and do my homework. Would you like to join me?... We can do something else if you don't like the library."

With a curt nod of his head, Phoenix acknowledged her words. "You're welcome." he said, his voice a soft but low sound. He watched with subtle interest at the way her fingers moved when she tightened his rather loose knot on her scarf, fascinted by how fragile they seemed. Just then, he realized what he was doing and stopped, his gaze falling to somewhere right past her head.

But then she spoke. Phoenix eyed her for a good minute to assess her words, almost as if she just spoke in a differet language. But after a moment of weighing out the pro's and con's of the situation- and ignoring the nudging thought that she had just asked him to spend more time with her- he finaly came to a decision. "I'd like that." he said, smiling, stepping to her side and waited for her to start walking with him. "Do you often spend time in the library?" he asked, mildly curious.

Most of the time Dominique would feel slightly uncomfortale when people looked at her for too long. But when it was Phoenix who laid his eyes on her, she felt surprinsingly comfortable. He could look at her all day and she wouldn't mind.

Dominique smiled softly at him and began to walk toward the library. "Sometimes. It's quiet and relaxing; much better than the common room or the dorms. Although the chairs aren't as comfortable as the couch or beds. But sometimes sacrifices need to be made." She said with a soft chuckle, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.

Phoenix's eyes stayed on her while they talked, he watched as her lips moved with every spoken word. He did smile when she pointed out the pitiful conditions they had to go through in the library. At least he wasn't the only one who thought the place needed more comfortable lounging areas. "That would be right." he said, once again finding himself unconsciously walking closer beside her. His eyes averted to the path they're taking. "I'd gladly make those sacrifices any day. The library is one of the few places I actually like being in, which is rather scarce for me. At least the more deserted areas. I'm not much for crowds..."

It was a short walk towards the library, and before either of them realized it, they found themselves in front of great double doors. Reaching out before him, Phoenix's long pale hand closed around the brass handle, opened the door wide, stepped on one side before he lightly gestured for her to enter before him. Once inside he closed the door behind him and walked closely behind her. "So." he started, his voice reduced to a whisper as he spoke by her ear. "I wonder where is Dominique Weasley's usual spot in the library..."

Dominique listened to him, glancing at him every few seconds or so. She really couldn't keep her eyes off him. "Crowds aren't so bad, when you're in the right mood that is. But I have to admit I do prefer deserted areas most of time, or at least ones with very few people in them. It's much easier to think and relax when you don't have fifty people chatting and shouting around you."

She gave him a small smile and mouthed a "thank you" when he opened the door and held it for her. He was such a gentleman, and that was so hard to find these days, specially in Hogwarts. It was nice to see some boys still knew how to behave properly around a girl.

Hearing his voice so close to her made her smile. And to answer his question, she simply took his hand in hers and led him to her favourite place. They passed many shelves, getting deep in the library, until she turned around a corner and stopped by a smaller table, with enough room for two people. "Here it is. My little haven in the library." She said softly.

"I suppose that's mostly true. That's why I simply detest the Common Room." Phoenix nodded. "I'd rather be on my own, though I don't think I can refuse the occasional good company when it's offered." He directed a smile towards her before turning away again.

The sudden touch of her hand in his was a foreign sensation, but he found is feet obediently following her almost instantly as she took him through the sharp truns through the tall book shelves. He has held her hand before, true, but the it was different this time. It felt better then he remembered; her fingers seem more delicate, a touch more fragile that he couldn't dare tighten his grip on her as she held him. When they landed in her litle spot, his eyes grew wide. It was... dare he say, perfect. "I never knew this was here." he said, walking towards it and leading her to one of the chairs before he took his seat across from her. "I usually take the Western Wing. Arithmancy, Potions, and it's closer to the Fiction Section. Plus, there are a few... isolated area there as well." He placed his bag on the tabe surface and rested his arms lightly over them, his eyes still on her. "So. Which homework will you tart working on now?"
