Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:open, zara flint

Who: Cordelia Vaisey and Zara Flint
What: She’s incredibly annoyed and frustrated over the turn that this post took and needs something to distract her.
When: the afternoon of Tuesday, the 29th
Where: under a tree by the lake
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete, open.

If there was one way to truly get on Cordelia’s bad side, it was to make her feel uncomfortable and offended. What had started out as an evenly matched argument had quickly become what felt like an attack on her lack of a sex life. Sex was, by far, the topic with which she had the most discomfort. Sharing her beliefs on the subject had been perfectly fine at the beginning, but his questioning of her reasoning behind her beliefs and how she could come to them without the proper research unnerved her dreadfully. So she was forced to end the conversation by fleeing from it, an embarrassing way to leave an argument.

The worst part of the entire situation was, however, the fact that he had a point. Her logical side told her that he was perfectly correct in saying that she didn’t really have a right to have an opinion on something she’d never tried. But the thought of trying it made her nauseas. Plus, it wasn’t as if she had anyone (or anyone potentially, for that matter) that she trusted enough to go that far with. So it was really a stalemate situation.

She really, really needed her piano. Or something new to research. Essentially, she needed a distraction before she thought more about what Miklos had said and decided it was a necessary experiment. Seeking this distraction, she’d made her way from her dormitory through the school, heading outside (though she looked for that room Alice had mentioned along the way, having no luck in actually finding it). It was after all of this that Delia ended up sitting under a tree beside the lake, burying her nose in a book as she fought off all of her more frustrating thoughts by losing herself in The Count of Monte Cristo.

Cordelia herself was rather surprised she’d been so honest with the other girl. Still, the conversation was unfortunately public to whoever wanted to read it, so she knew it had a chance of coming out eventually anyway. Besides, Zara seemed genuinely concerned and… well, Delia wasn’t really used to that sort of compassion. It was refreshing, actually, to have someone willing to listen and help. She supposed that if she actually found friends, she could have this more often. She’d settle for whatever she could get for now, though.

She nodded, scowling a bit. “The obnoxious part of it all is that he attacks people, then refuses to believe that he’s done so. I’m sure you saw his last journal entry mocking the Hufflepuffs for their loss. It’s so tacky to disregard sportsmanship so much. It puts a very bad light on the rest of our house,” she explained.

“I would, believe me… but he sort of,” she trailed off a bit, blushing, “he attacked my sex life, or lack thereof. It was mortifying.”

It surprised a lot of people to find out that Zara actually had a very compassionate heart, she often would blame Braden jokingly, but well she hadn't talked to him much lately. He'd been a bit odd lately, and she didn't really know how to deal with that.

She listened carefully, she was disgusted to hear that he'd even bring up someone else's sex life, that was a private matter. Zara really wanted to scream at the mere thought of what Miklos did to people sometimes.

She looked down for a moment before looking back up. "He is really good at painting the rest of us as people that we aren't. Honestly I doubt that anyone meant for it to get that violent. Things happen in games sometimes and seeing everything is impossible. The chasers don't always pay attention to the seeker, and a game like that? Why on earth would he beaters pay attention to the seeker when the chasers were doing all the work? He just doesn't pay attention to much outside of his box." Zara didn't hide her annoyance with him. Cordelia was being honest with her, she wasn't going to hide her own feelings on the subject.

"He had no right to even talk to you about your sex life. " She said shaking her head. "I'm sorry he did that, he's cruel, at times... or most of it." She pushed some sweat off of her face. "Not everyone has a sex life like some of those that go around talking about it all the time. I don't understand why they can't just leave people alone who don't like sharing their private lives the same way."

It was so fantastic to hear Zara’s own thoughts on the situation and see how wonderfully they imitated her own. Had she known that the other girl shared such a similar opinion on the matter of Miklos Krum, she certainly would’ve interacted with her further. This knowledge made her once again want to hit the man in question, for she was involuntarily proving his point that if she only got to know people, she could discover promising aspects of their personalities.

She refused to really consider this, simply chalking this interaction with Zara up to being in the right place at the right time. She clearly needed someone to talk to and the other girl was willing to listen. It was a perfect trade-off and proved nothing, she told herself, because she knew she probably wouldn’t have approached Zara in any other situation.

Her fervent defense of her was very relieving. It was nice to know that her peers did not miss her views on the subject of Miklos and his unfortunate habit of being an ass. “Exactly. Simply because we aren’t all comfortable enough in our sex life to share it with the rest of the world doesn’t make it worthy of attack,” she said. “He’s just an idiot… but thank you, Zara. It’s nice to have someone to listen.”

Zara was actually just glad that Cordelia didn't seem to be annoyed, cranky, or unhappy that she'd approached her. Zara didn't really go out of he way to talk to many people, but when they didn't look happy, she tended to go out of her way just a little bit more. It was among the things that her mother hated about her, she honestly did care about other people. Zara didn't always have to know them well, she just cared.

"Regardless if we are comfortable or not, they should be kept private. Honestly, I don't really like being forced to hear about the sex lives of those that flaunt them around as if it means everything in the world. Or the ones that think they are better than others because they happen to have dated, shagged, snogged a set number of people. Personally it is sort of disgusting." She commented shaking her head.

"Of course." She said smiling. "I'm around when you need an ear, besides, I got to let out my own frustrations on the subject." Which was true, she was able to vent her feelings about the subject, and honestly she needed to. She could talk to Elena about it of course, but at the moment she happened to be talking to Cordelia.

Cordelia also had maternal issues, though hers were more on her end than her mother’s. She deeply resented her mother for giving up on her dreams to consent to becoming the slave of a wife she’d become. This was the basis for her distaste at the idea of marriage, though she knew it was inevitable in her future. She had a whole host of dreams of her own and she didn’t need some boy ruining that for her.

“Exactly. As far as I’m concerned, those who go around discussing their sex lives for all to hear aren’t worth spending time with if their sole existence rests upon the act. And I would rather not hear constantly about the details. It’s revolting, really,” she agreed.

Delia returned the smile, nodding. “I’ll certainly keep that in mind, thank you,” she responded. “Were you simply out enjoying the air?”

Zara nodded. It was good to hear that others agreed. She was frankly getting sick of all of the, so and so slept with him, or about who snogged who, or who was better at Quidditch. Zara loved playing, but it wasn't her life, she had a lot of other things that were important to her.

She smiled softly. "Anytime." She meant it as well.

"I needed some air, and letting off some steam, I find running is the only way to really clear my head." Zara shrugged slightly. Part of her wanted to bring up Braden, but the other part of her wasn't sure even how to bring it up or what to say about it. So she opted for just answer the question simply.

Cordelia personally found the sport a bit silly and not at all worth the stock that many of her peers put in it. She’d always found it a bit pointless to focus your life on a game, especially now that this game had gotten so dangerous. She didn’t enjoy watching her friends beat each other up over a game.

She nodded as Zara spoke, but she was almost as perceptive as the other girl and could tell that she’d left something out. Still, despite the conversation they’d been having, Cordelia didn’t feel that she was close enough to ask and didn’t really want to push the niceness she’d received so far by making Zara uncomfortable.

“I wish I’d thought of that. It probably would’ve had a better effect on my anger than reading a book about revenge,” she said, smiling a bit.

To make a sport ones life didn't appeal to Zara, having it be apart of ones life did. It was after all the only thing she had in common with her father, the only thing that allowed him to see her as a person. At least that was how she felt about it.

"It does wonders, although unfortunately it doesn't exactly make questions go away as I wish it would." She commented shrugging. "At least a book on revenge could give you ideas." It didn't matter if the ideas would go to action or not, Zara never saw the harm in just thinking about it. She often wondered what it would be like to do something cruel to elder sister or mother, just to show them what it had been like for her. Zara of course would never do such a thing, the thought however didn't bother her.

"Truthfully, I was trying to figure out why one of my best mates has been acting a bit mad lately." She figured it wouldn't hurt to be honest, besides talking about it someone who probably wouldn't go over board with giggles, or silly questions would help her clear her head. "He took me to the ball, I thought as just friends. Although not long after he acted rather oddly the other day, and on top of that hasn't really spoken to me since going to his dorm that day. I haven't a clue what to make of it."

Cordelia really didn’t know what it felt like to have parents who didn’t participate in her life. In fact, her parents were quite set on completely planning her life if she’d let them. Despite her loathing for her mother, she supposed it was nice having her there in case she needed her. Her father was very attentive, though he insisted that she marry someone he approved of, and she generally got along quite well with him.

“Perhaps, though I doubt the sort of revenge I could get from a book like this would get me anywhere but Azkaban,” she responded. “And, truth be told, Miklos Krum is not at all worth getting imprisoned for, even though it would be incredibly refreshing.”

Delia returned the favor of listening as Zara spoke, confusion entering her expression as she shook her head. “I don’t know why he’d act that way, that seems very strange,” she said. “Maybe he has feelings for you and is scared to tell you? I’m not really an expert in boys, though, but that’s really the only reason I can think of that he’d be so odd.”

Zara gave a half smile thinking about it. "Not worth the trouble really, I imagine he'll find himself in enough trouble on his own. Besides, he really is a good chaser, not exactly the best captain though." She commented, she didn't like the way he treated people all the time, and didn't find him to be the most effective captain.

She gave Cordelia's words some thoughts before answering, it was a good point, maybe he did fancy her? It seemed kind of impossible to her, and she wasn't exactly sure how she'd feel about it. She cared about him deeply, and if she thought about it was a good looking guy. Zara considered him to be one of her best mates, it was hard to imagine life without him if she were honest with herself. For some reason getting to the point where he'd fancy her seemed a bit off.

"Perhaps. I suppose the only way to figure any of it out is to talk to him. It is safe to say I do miss him." She admitted softly. It was slightly odd to be this honest with someone she didn't know well, however Zara had the feeling that Cordelia may get her better than some others, even some whom knew her better.

She sighed, nodding. “I’m sure you’re right. I really hope that when he does get whatever is coming to him, though, I’m there to witness it. It will be a truly rewarding sight to see him finally get put in his place. I’d be forever grateful to whoever can accomplish that feat,” she responded.

“Honestly, it just sort of… annoys me to see people like him acting so high and mighty. Really, after all our world as been through over the years, you’d think he’d realize that he ought to calm down that arrogance of his,” she said, shaking her head.

In response to her admission, Cordelia nodded. “I think that’s probably true. If anything, it’ll at least tell you why he’s acting the way he is. If he likes you, that’s a good thing. If he doesn’t, then you’ll have one less reason.”

"I'd be surprised if it didn't happen in the next year." She said shrugging slightly with a smirk. She was pretty sure that'd be amusing at least to see. She figured they'd see it.

"They might not have anything else." She said thinking about it. "OR they need that to make themselves feel better." She said softly. Zara found it annoying, and dumb.

"Hopefully I can get him to stop and talking to me. He's been avoiding me lately. Perhaps I'll stop him tomorrow. He has to talk to me at some point." She muttered softly.

"That would be brilliant," Delia responded. "It really would be a wonderful day for the rest of us." The sheer idea of him finally getting a taste of his own medicine was an incredibly pleasant one.

"You're probably right, actually," she said, nodding. "That's quite pathetic, isn't it?"

She nodded. "That sounds like a very good plan. Do let me know how it goes, won't you? I'm rather curious..."

"It really would be, we could make it a mini holiday." She said laughing slightly. Zara shrugged at the thought again.

"It really is, but what does one expect from someone who doesn't think past themselves and Quidditch.. I love Quidditch, but there is a lot more to life, perhaps someday he'll figure that out."

Zara thought for a moment. "I will let you know how it goes, hopefully I get some sort of answer. I doubt he can hide from me forever. He's supposed to be one of my best mates!"
