WHO zachary and Raleigh
WHERE raleighs room
WHAT best friends hanging out
WHEN night time

--

Zachary rubbed the side of his face as he left his room, his bag slung over his shoulder as he walked down to the common room and out, heading towards where he had been told the Head Boy room was. He ran a hand through his still damp hair, pushing it of off his forehead as he began to climb the stairs that led towards the room and raised a hand knocking on the door. “It’s me open up,” he said before stepping back. He was interested to see what his friend had gotten up to over the weekend in order to need such a visit. He doubted it was anything but his usual antics, but it would still be interesting to see what had happened.

"I'm just telling it like it is," Zachary replied grinning as he looked back at Raleigh. "Why do you think I preferred coming over to your house instead of yours to mine?" he asked innocently completely lying. He liked to go over to Raleigh's house because the two of there had always been able to get away a little easier than when he was at his house, his parents always wanted to know where he was, and Raleigh's weren't always there so it made it easier. "I can if I want to and you know it."

He flicked water at the other man and rolled his eyes. "Just because all of us don't sleep around, doesn't mean I don't need, want or know how to do foreplay," he replied shaking his head as he did so. He relaxed a little bit in the water, sinking down to slick his hair back before coming back out and looking over at hi friend. "And besides, you don't need as much foreplay when you actually date someone because every moment could be considered foreplay," he replied nodding his head.

He made sure he didn't sit too close to the other man, but found he couldn't sit across the tub like he had planned to originally. He relaxed a little bit, allowed his eyes to drift away from the other man's face as Raleigh's closed and he ran his eyes along the other man's body.

"Sounds like you have you're own little harem going on," Zachary said with a half smile. Raleigh knew he wasn't the most approving of his lifestyle, and so he didn't bother making his displeasure not known. "Nothing's wrong, just more comfortable to sit like this," he said nodding his head. "And besides, I don't want to make you feel bad for being so small."

Raleigh ignored the part about his dad. He let Zach have a good laugh and didn't play into it by saying anything else about it. What a thought. One he definitely didn't need or want. He just shook his head lightly and noted the last bit of what Zach had said. He probably could get away with saying just about anything he wanted. It was like that between the two of them.

"I don't slee---" well, Raleigh started to protest, but he thought better of it. If anyone knew Raleigh it was Zach. And he knew that he had had more than his fair share of experiences with the ladies of Hogwarts. He had to laugh though at how Zach was getting a bit defensive. It was actually sort of cute. He opened up one of his eyes and glanced over at Zach with a half smile. "Who are you actually dating then?" Raleigh asked, to disprove Zach's sort of know-it-all point. As far as Raleigh knew, Zach was single. And of course, so was he. Raleigh hadn't dated anyone seriously since, fifth year was it? It was pretty hard for him to even remember back that far. It just didn't seem to work out. Someone had to know Raleigh, his habits, his schedules, his priorities and on top of that, they'd have to be okay with it and still be able to meet any other compatibility or attraction test. It was just too much to live up to and eventually Raleigh stopped looking for someone.

"It's not such a bad setup," Raleigh mused. "Most of the time," he added, wanting to make sure that was added in. He knew that even he couldn't keep up with it all the time.

"Oooooh," Raleigh started laughing. "I think you have a bad memory," he added not saying more than that. "Whatever you feel like..." he said, resolving not to care about why Zach was curled up in the corner.

Zach didn't actually find Percy that attractive outside of the resemblance that he shared with Raleigh, but he liked to tease his friend about it, simply because he knew that it would irk him the wrong way and that was always something interesting to see. Even if the other man didn't appreciate it as much as he should.

He merely raised an eyebrow at his friend, not going to say anything else because he knew that Raleigh knew that he slept around a lot, he was sure his friend would attempt to sleep with everything in sight simply because he could. He glared at the other man at the laugh, sure it was condensending ot something like that. "No one right now, I have standards you know," he ribbed his best friend rolling his eyes. "You know, those things that normal people use when trying to date someone instead of 'oh willing body, lets go' sort of thing," he said. He was perhaps a bit bitter, but it managed to come off as teasing more than anything else, at least to him it did. Hopefully.

"Right," he said nodding his head. "Not a bad set up at all," he said leaning his head back with a sigh. "Don't you ever get lonely or anything?" he asked wanting to know.

"No, you're just compensating with arrogance," he said shaking his head slightly as he leaned back against the tub, daring to drop his legs down slightly, folding them indian style.

Raleigh knew two important things. One being that Zach didn't quite approve of some of his 'extracurricular activities.' And two, that Zachary was going to give him hell about it whenever he could. Sometimes, however, Raleigh wondered if Zach really meant some of the things he said. It was hard to tell, with the teasing way that Zach presented the quips. "I have standards," Raleigh protested. And he did. It was just that instead of letting his standards hold him back, he took the route that was guided by his desires first.

He was pretty close to feeling like he would have to start defending himself soon, but the conversation took a more interesting and more personal turn. And actually, he liked talking to Zach about real things that meant something. Raleigh thought about the question for a moment, ignoring the other little remarks out of Zach's mouth while he tried to get a real answer from himself.

"Lonely?" he asked, more or less repeating it for himself than really asking what Zach had meant. "Well, I see where you're going with this..." Raleigh began. "It's not that I'm lonely. But I do feel a bit,umm...disconnected. I guess it's nice to have a physical and emotional connection in one package," he thought out loud, opening his eyes to stare at the wall in front of him. Leaning back, and sinking deeper into the tub, Raleigh shifted his focus to the ceiling. "It's just not gonna happen. They don't want the real me, all the time. They want the sugar coated sample when it's convenient. They don't know me, like you do, and if they did then I doubt it'd last for very long. And besides, I don't have time to be a good boyfriend," Raleigh rambled on. He had actually put some thought into what Zach had said. But when he stopped talking, he wondered if Zach had really meant to get into that deep of a conversation.

"Nevermind," Raleigh laughed, trying to brush it off.

It wasn't so much that Zach cared about the other man sleeping around, it was just that he didn't like to hear about them. It always felt like it was being rubbed in, like Raleigh was deliberly doing it even though that was completely and utterly innane. There was no way Raleigh knew anything about his crush, and if he did the other man probably would do what he did. "Of course you do," he said nodding his head as he hid his emotions behind a roll of his eyes before relaxing back against the side of the tub, ducking udner for a moment before smoothing his hair back of off his face.

He listened intently as Raleigh spoke, a part of him wanting to say 'date me' or something along those lines because as far as he was aware he could be all those things and more for Raleigh. "Well then don't sleep around so much and try to get to know someone first," he pointed out. "Go on dates, like the rest of us mere mortals," he said before leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest, chewing on his bottom lip as he did so. He shook his head as he moved over to Raleigh's side of the tub. "You know if you just wanted to date me, all you had to do was ask," he said with a wink, playing like he was joking as he began to get out of the tub, not sure he could handle being in it much longer.

He grabbed a towel and began to dry off quickly before pulling on his shorts sans boxers before moving to sit down by the edge where Raleigh was sitting. He leaned against his knees and watched his friend for a moment. "So why do you sleep around? You've never given me a straight answer."

Raleigh has brought a hand out of the water, and rubbed his palm over his eyes. The water dripped back down over his face and back into the tub as he thought about the topic omore than he really wouldv'e liked to. He groaned and let his hand drop steadily down his face, until he was holding his chin in his palm and tapping a finger over his lip. He let out a long breath of air. "It's different for you than it is for me," was Raleigh's answer. It didn't make a lot of sense when it came out but it did to him. Part of his reasoning was simply because of habit. Although he didn't want to admit that he had succumbed to doing what people expected from him. And of course, he enjoyed himself---even if it was instant empty gratification.

Watching Zach slide closer, Raleigh knew some ridiculous remark was sure to follow. And he was right. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Here I am having a serious conversation and you're mocking me," Raleigh sighed, dropping his hand back into the water to cross over his mid section with the other arm. He lifted his elbow out of the water enough to make a splash toward Zach as it came back down.

"You're getting out?" Raleigh asked, not ready quite yet to follow behind. He wondered for a moment if it was something he said, but decided that must not be it. Zach wouldv'e just ignored him rather than grow offended enough to get up and leave. Besides, he got dressed and came back to sit at the edge beside Raleigh.

Without making eye contact, Raleigh stared off to the wall again and though about the next posed question. "There isn't one," Raleigh said matter of factly. "I just do. It just happens that way," he shrugged. "I think it's a sort of 'two out of three ain't bad' deal," Raleigh figured, shrugging again. That was probably called settling. And was he happy doing that? Oh great, more to think about. He'd have to thank Zacy later for giving him this headache of self evaluation to think about.
