WHO. Everyone~!
WHAT. P AR TAY.
WHERE. Room of Requirement.
WHEN. Backdated to Friday. Night time.
RATING. TBA. Nothing too high though, alright?
STATUS. Open~

The Room of Requirements was a blessing. Nymphadora had spent days trying to locate the infamous room, searching the halls for what seemed like the only ideal place in the castle where one can have an event such as the one she'd been planning for her sibling. She'd taken note of a few abandoned duelling rooms and old libraries, just in case her search came out unfruitful. But at the very last second, the toom finally showed itself to her.

It was better than the stories his father had told her once about it. Not only did Dora not need to decorate the room herself, but it seemed the food was taken care of, too. As if the Castle was rejoicing for their return, and wanted them to celebrate coming back the proper way. Dora was only too eager to oblige.

The room was dark but for the lit candles with different colored flames of red purple and deep orange scattered about the room, gently illuminating the small space. Modest sitting areas were scattered about the area, a long table with food and drinks stood on both sides of the room. The center of the room was of course reserved for dancing, with a small stage and operational DJ booth. It was perfect, Dora thought as her eyes scanned the room.

By nightfall, it was time to party.

Dressed in casual garbs of black and ash, Phoenix exited his dormitory and left the Slytherin Commons. His steps led him to the direction indicated on the invitation sent to him just a few days prior between his fingers, to the corridor that housed the infamous Room of Requirement. However, a few corridors from his destination, he found himself stopping in his tracks.

For a moment, he simply stood against the wall, his expression thoughtful. Should he really go through with this? Imagine a Malfoy in a Weasley's party. Surely, he would not be welcomed so warmly, even though one of their peers, who just so happened to be one of the birthday celebrants, had invited him. He sighed, leaning his head back against the cool stone, contemplating if he should just turn and head back.

Suddenly, his eyes caught a movement, a figure that passed the shadowy area that concealed him. His insides did a little flip, eyes widening in the slightest as he followed Dominique Weasley. He watched her pace, seemingly in thought. After a sigh, he walked into the light and instantly, she spotted him. "I'm unsure if I should, myself." he said, shrugging, looking her once over.

"You look beautiful." Phoenix told her with the slightest smile to his lips.

Dominique couldn't help the little smile that crossed her face. It had been ages since she had actually seen him, looked at him. Selfishly, she wouldn't mind getting the chance to look across the room that night and see him there, but she also wondered if he would be comfortable. "Well, you have made the effort to come this far."

She felt the smile fall gently from her face as he told her she looked beautiful. It tugged at some part of her, and she was glad that he found her beautiful. Dominique knew should have been smiling like a cheshire cat. Still, it seemed to conjure up too many memories. Good memories, and it brought her back to the reality of what she felt for him, even now, although she was convinced she shouldn't.

Still she said, "Thank you. You look...wonderful," before looking away slightly.

Merlin, these lingering feelings were making her feel daft.

"I know." Phoenix answered in his low tenor, hands coming to fold behind his back. It truly was a refreshing site to look at her, and as he stepped closer, he even caugth the faimliar scent of her. "I can still retreat." he told her. "Turn and walk away...."

He caught the expression that passed her expression when he complimented her. It was strange. Usually the gestures summoned more positive reactions. She couldn't even look at him when she returned it. "Did I say something wrong?" he asked, truly curious and even worried that he might have upset her.

Dominique took in the angles of his face as he spoke. She nodded in agreement, "Well, you could, but what would you walk away to?" She knew he wasn't the fondest of crowds like these, and she wondered if he wouldn't prefer to be nestled in a quiet corner with a book, or something else of interest. Whereas she liked being around people. She'd grown up around so many Weasleys, but needed her down time in about equal amounts.

Her eyes widened at his question, "Oh... no." Unsatisfied with her initial response, she smiled sheepishly and shook her head lightly. "You always say the right things. Always." This time she didn't turn her face from his and instead looked directly at him. She could feel her Gryffindor impulsiveness and bravery bubbling up, and she was afraid of what it would have her say.

Phoenix smiled a little. Usually as gestures was one that was so rare in the presence of most people. However, dominiquee just seeed to have the natural talent to bring it out of him. It was funny how she still knew him so well. "A quiet domritory." he told her, biting his lower lip as he thought. "A good book, a glass of water. A form of entertainment entirely different from what a party such as the one I'm invited to will provide." A pause. "And might I ask what's keeping you from going inside?"

Dominique answered him, though her answer did not leave her satisfied. He took another step to her, careful to keep his expression void of what he felt. "Then... why do you appear as if I had?"

"See, that's exactly what I thought you would be doing," Dominique grinned. The thought of asking him what he was reading lately passed through her mind, but such comfortable, yet simple questions seemed to have an intimacy of their very own. "Well, I was waiting on the corridor to show up, and then I saw you, and I hadn't seen you in ages."

Dominique felt Phoenix step closer to her, and she felt herself tense and then relax. She was wondering if she was beginning to get goose bumps. It happened, on occasion. "Well, do you really want to know?"

She stood straighter, and felt the part of her that was a lioness come out. She began speaking before he even answered her question. "The truth is, it just made me... reminisce. Which, I've been trying to do less of. It's a bit difficult, really."

A nod of his head acknowledged her words. He looked passed her to the wall that the directions in the invitation led to. The Room of Requirement. He hadn't realized he was now so close...

Phoenix fell silent as she spoke, the air between them so thick with tension one could cut it with a knife. His heart fell at that admission, knowing he himself was going through the same struggle. But he couldn't get himself to admit such a thing. Vulnerability was never a good color on him. "I should refrain then, if it upsets you so."

Closing his eyes, Phoenix thought about the party as what was described in the card. And in seconds, the door appeared for them in the near distance. "There it is." he said, smiling at her. "You should go. Have fun. Your family must be waiting for you..." An encouraging smile.

I should refrain then, if it upsets you so.

Hadn't they refrained from talking already? It hadn't exactly helped, either. Still the words reverberated in her mind. Of course, he would try to be kind. Dominique had no doubt that words like the ones he had spoken could only meant that he hadn't been thinking of her quite as much as she had been thinking of him.

That's because you've been an idiot.

Dominique felt extremely still. Unbearably still as she listened to his words. "It doesn't upset me."She heard the words from her mouth. She nodded, taking a step back from him. "But yes, I should go."

She turned and walked to the door. With a forlorn look, followed by a demure smile, she said, "Goodnight, Phoenix," and stepped in the doorway.

At her departure, Phoenix remained still and simplye watched her disappear through the massive, intricately-designed door. It disappeared the moment it closed with a faint click. When she was gone, he felt... alone, nothing but the memrories he had just made with her replaying in his mind. Sighing, Phoenix touched his chest, fingers grasping the dark fabric of his jumper; he felt like he couldn't breathe.

Leaning against the wall, Phoenix stood in a dar corner for a while. Should he still go through with this?
