Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:kendra urquhart, october 2022

who: Kendra and Cormac
what: Hogsmeade
where: Great Hall then Hogsmeade
when: Early afternoon. BACKDATED to Saturday
why: Because Cormac asked Kendra to go with him.
rating: PG probably
status: In progress

Ever since they had previously spent time together, Cormac found that Kendra was one of the few girls he thought about as worthy of spending time with. She wasn't too bossy, or at least not to him, she didn't seem concerned with all the trivial things that other girls did and she baked cookies. Cormac did like cookies, and it was a strange thing to endear himself to someone over cookies, but here he was, finding himself wanting to spend more time with Kendra solely because of what she could baked. Well, that and her amazing personality of course.

With most people, Cormac felt nervous that they would judge him for his mood swings. He'd already gone through several of them in Kendra's presence and she hadn't seemed to mind. She hadn't gotten weird and left, and she hadn't been impatient. She was exactly the type of girl her wanted for a friend. The small fact that he think he may have developed a crush on her, well, that only had a little to do with him asking her to go to Hogsmeade with him.

Cormac stood by the entrance to the Great Hall feeling incredibly nervous. He his excitement could very easily turn to disappointment. What if she didn't want to go at all and she's simply been saying that? What if she already there with someone else? What if, she was on her way down and ran into someone else and decided that she'd rather spend time with them than with Cormac? He was driving himself mad thinking over all the possibilities, all of which ended badly for him.

Kendra's voice caused Cormac to smile, and that was rare. He was in an unusually good mood and he contributed it entirely to her. "No, it's fine, thank you for coming." He said quietly, taking the bag from her. He couldn't help as his smile grew wider.

"Cookies?" He asked, untying the bow a little too quickly and almost dropping the bag. He blushed, but his mood didn't change, which was good. He took a cookie out and bit into it. "It's delicious. You're a better cook than my gran." He declared.

'Thank you for inviting me.' Cormac's smile made her own grow a bit more. She wanted to tell him that he should smile more often, but she didn't want to risk anything at the moment. Kendra wanted to keep him in a good mood for the day. And she was going to try her hardest to do so.

'Chocolate chip cookies to be exact!' It was the moment of truth when he bit into the cookie. Biting her bottom lip, she waited for his reaction. There were only a few people that she actually cared about what they thought about her cooking. Cormac was officially one of those people. 'Really?' Now it was her turn to blush. 'Thank you!'

"Yes, really, they're delicious." Cormac said, giving Kendra a reassuring smile. He really did love them. He offered one to her, even though she'd brought them for him. It seemed like the right thing to do, plus he didn't want to seem selfish.

"Do you suppose we should be off then?" He asked, gesturing away from them. Most of the other students who had gathered to go to Hogsmeade had already left, and Cormac was ready to leave. He wanted to spend time with Kendra. After they had talked before, he couldn't help but think she was a wonderful girl and someone he wouldn't actually mind letting know him a bit better. He was a bit nervous, to be honest, a bit nervous and very afraid that he would slip into a terrible mood that would make her hate him.

'I'm glad you think so!' Kendra wasn't going to tell him that she had spent all morning trying to perfect them. That she had burnt the first batch because of nervousness and the second batch she had forgotten to add the chocolate chips. 'No thank you, they're all for you.'

After she put her hoodie on she nodded and turned towards the door. 'Yes, lets. We have a fun filled day ahead of us!' Kendra wasn't only excited about getting more chocolate and being away from the castle for the day. She was excited about spending the whole day with Cormac. Away from the worries of school work and from anyone really. 'What do you want to do first when we get there?'

Cormac smiled at her, then followed her toward the door. He thought hard about her question. He wasn't really sure what he wanted to do. In all honesty, he hadn't given it much thought. He'd just been eager to spend the day with Kendra. It was strange.

"Well, we could go to Honeydukes?" He suggested, the first thing that came to his mind.

'Honeydukes sounds perfect!' That was the only place she was actually concerned with. Other than that, it was partially making sure the youngins didn't get in trouble and just spending time with Cormac. Something she had been looking forward to do since he had asked her. Or maybe it was since the last time they had sat out by the lake.

'Another lovely day. Seems we've been in luck twice.' Kendra smiled at him after taking a look around the grounds. 'Have you read anything since the other day? Or has school work been all consuming?'

"School's been a little consuming. I haven't been able to see Gwen much, and that's been making me a little upset." Cormac admitted. He didn't usually talk about his sister. Well, he didn't usually talk about anything much, but he felt it was fine to talk to Kendra about it. "It's hard not seeing her often." He glanced up at her, then looked back at the ground. His excitement was waning to nervousness, which nearly always led to bad places for the mind of Cormac McLaggen.

"How about for you? Have things been hectic for you?" He asked, hoping to steer the conversation away from anything that might throw him into the pit he stood on the edge of, emotionally speaking. He bit into another cookie, chewing it slowly. He was really glad for Kendra spending time with him, and he wanted so badly to stay in a good mood.

'That's always the problem with school, it tends to separate siblings more. Though some would see it as a blessing.' She laughed a little. 'It does make the time you do spend together so much more important though.' Now she was starting to miss her little brother just a little. Kendra lightly touched his arm with a small smile. 'There should always be time for siblings.'

Cormac was eating another cookie, that assured her that he really did enjoy them. Another person to bake for then! 'A little. Not as bad as last year and OWLs. Then again, nothing was that bad when it came to classes. Now it's just Prefect duties and those tougher classes.'
