"Elena, will you just please ask her to come out?"

Elena frowned at her friend's boyfriend. Zara had obviously been upset lately, and she hadn't realized Braden was the cause until she'd found him waiting outside the entrance to Slytherin. "I don't know if that's a good idea."

"I just want to talk to her. It's important. Please?"

Elena sighed, eyeing him for a moment, before nodding. "Alright, fine. But only this once."

"Thanks, Elena."

So she ascended the stairs to the seventh year girls' dormitory and pulled open the door. "Zara," she said with a weak smile. "Your boyfriend has been sitting outside for an hour begging people to go get you for him. Don't suppose you'd be willing to go down a see him?"

"I don't know." She said softly. Zara Really didn't know anything anymore.

"I love you." She said very simply. "I don't really see myself with anyone but you, I just don't know how to fix anything or make everything be okay... You know?" She said softly. Zara really was just confused, she was hurting and she wasn't sure if it was all just because of what she'd seen or if it was her fault and problem.

Braden cleared his throat at her answer, lifting a hand to scratch the back of his neck uneasily. He had gone through breakups before, but he had never been in love with someone, and he certainly hadn't been as close to them as he had been to Zara. He had taken her virginity from her, for Merlin's sake, and now... things were falling apart, and he knew he didn't have enough hands to keep them together.

"Okay," he said gruffly. "Then you... don't need to be with me." Taking a knife to his insides would've felt an awful lot better than saying that. "You shouldn't... be with someone just because it's... what you're used to." He let his hand fall limply at his side. "I love you enough not to do that to you."

The expression on her face was hurt, that wasn't what she had said! She'd said she didn't know how to fix things. It hurt that he'd just said that, she didn't know if he'd said just because he was hurt, or if maybe there was just something more. Everything was just messed up.

"That's not what I said." She said, her voice giving him a frustrated look. "I love you. Did you completely miss that?" She said shaking her head.

"Maybe we do need time apart, I don't know. I don't know how to fix things."

Braden saw the hurt on her face, but his own prevented him from moving to her and holding her close. She loved him, but she didn't want to be with him.

He wanted to punch someone, to break something, to scream, but he didn't. He just shoved his hand back into his pocket and muttered. "Yeah, okay. Then... we're... not together." His fists were clenched inside his pants. "I'm... going to go now."

Zara's face turned to a frustrated one. Did she say she wanted things to just end? She said they might need time to figure it out... and that she didn't know... The key was that she didn't know. Zara didn't have a clue how to figure any of it out... And he wasn't exactly being helpful with it.

"Fine, if it is that simply to you, I wont stop you." She said crossing her arms. Zara had to hold herself back from crying. She could feel her heart breaking. She wanted to wrap her arms around him and cry, but no, he just had just decided that they weren't together anymore. So that was that.

"What do you want me to say, Zara?" he snapped, finally showing anger toward her for what was the first time in their relationship and likely hte first time in their entire friendship. "I know what that means- 'I have to think about things'. 'We should have some time apart'. You keep saying I'm looking for someone more exciting, but I'm not. I'm not the one who thinks he needs something better. You are, and you don't even realize it, do you?"

He kept his distance from her. "I'm not going to sit around and wait for you to realize it, Zara. I'm sorry."

Zara flinched when he snapped. She looked only at him, as much as she wanted to look away she just wouldn't let herself. "I don't know how to stop feeling like you deserve better, okay? If that isn't how it is, sorry, but it is how I feel. Which apparently how I feel isn't fair or make sense." She snapped.

"Fine. If that's all...." She said trying not to feel like crap.

	"Walk away." She said shaking her head turning to go back into the common room, Zara ran up to her dorm room this was just great. It was really painful. Zara couldn't exactly think, or feel. She wasn't sure she'd be able to even do anything. That conversation hadn't gone how she wanted it to. (Reply to this) (Parent)
