WHO; Jessica Vaisey and Evan Pucey
WHAT; Frustrations.
WHEN; Night time
WHERE; The Slytherin Commons
RATING; TBA
STATUS; Incomplete / Closed.

The night was chillier that Jessica had ever remembered it had been. She wondered if the heating charms in the castle were just failing, or it was just the absence of company that's making her feel the cold. She was heading back from the library, having finished a paper for a class the next day. It had taken her much longer than usual, for her thoughts seemed preoccupied with a young man with blonde hair. Evan had been in a constant in her thoughts since she had last spoken to him over the journals; he sounded so miserable and broken that it broke her heart. Jessie wanted to comfort him, and tell him everything was going to be okay, but it seemed the other wouldn't believe her no matter what she said...

With a sigh, she said the password for the Common Room entrance and went silently inside, planning to go directly to her room when a familiar figure caught her eyes on the way to the staircases. "Evan?" she called out and approached him cautiously.

It was becoming quit an effort to stay calm despite every word van lashed out at him. But Jessica told herself he was under the influence, that he would never hurt her if the circumstances were different. She didn't know for sure, but if she didn't cling to what faith she had in him, she had nothing.

She watched him hang his head and close his eyes. "You're afraid you're not going to please your father the way your brother did. You're afraid you won't live up to what your father is expecting." she stated, trying her best to understand what he was feeling. "You're afraid of being judged from how you perform a task that wasn't yours to begin with..." Gently, she lifted his face so she could look at him. "You're too young for this sort of burnen. Much too young..." she said, before her lips rose in the corners into an encouraging small smile. "But you're not alone in this. You have Anna, and Peyton. And though I don't know if this means anything at all, but you have me. I believe in you, and I know I'm not making a mistake with thinking that..."

"Can I go to bed now?" he asked gruffly.

Evan was stubborn enough sober, let alone when he had alcohol in his system. He wasn't about to admit that Jessica was right, but he was running out of steam to fight with her. He was running out excuses and snappy comebacks. Bed seemed like a much easier option. It was getting to be late anyway.

It was another blow to have been dismissd so quickly, her sincere words thrown back at her without remorse. But jessica knew that whatever he did, she could not hold it against him. It was a holds he had on her that she knew would not ever change.

With a gentle nod, Jessica released him and carefully stood. "Do you need help?" she asked, managing a small smile as she did so.

"No." Probably, actually, but again, he was being stubborn, and that was unlikely to change until tomorrow when his stubbornness came back to bite him in the form of a very, very painful hangover. "I can do it." He heaved himself up, swaying a bit, before slowly starting up the stairs. Halfway up, though, he paused to look over his shoulder. "Night, Jess."
