Who: Elena and Benjamin Goyle
What: Waking up Ben
Where: Slytherin 7th year boys' dorms
When: Before classes
Rating: TBD

Elena rolled her eyes at the response of her brother in his journal, before slamming it shut rather violently, earning a few raised brows from the girls nearby. Elena ignored them, shoving her journal into her bag, before hurrying up the stairs. "Uh- you can't-"

But Elena already had her hand on the doorknob. "Cover your bits!" she shouted in warning, before flinging open the door. Ben was, of course, still in bed. He looked like absolute shit, as she had expected, and he was still wearing sweats- not his uniform like she had told him.

"Get up." She said firmly, yanking his covers off of him. "You're going to class."

Elena couldn't help but smirk slightly at him as he swatted blindly, obviously missing her by a mile. "Get up," she repeated, disappearing momentarily only to come back with a large glass of water.

"It's the first day of classes, Ben, and you're not sleeping through it. You're not starting the year off that way." Elena may have been a sweet, submissive thing around strangers, but when it came to her brother, she was anything but shy. It came with being raised together for seventeen years. "You've got ten seconds to get out of bed. Ten. Nine. Eight..."

Ben shook his head, eyes closing again. "I'm not getting up," he said. It didn't matter if she brought back water, food, or more alcohol. He wasn't budging. He couldn't even move.

Groaning again, he rolled over. "I don't give a shite if it's the first day of classes, Elena. I'm not moving. My fucking head is killing me, I'm tired, and I can't move." He draped his arm over his head. As she started counting, he just laid there. "Count all you want, I'm not going,"

Elena had a feeling he might say that, so she moved up to the head of his bed, still counting all the while. "Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. Two..." She smirked devilishly. "One." The large cup of water was promptly dumped on his face, and being a rather large cup it was sure to have woken him up rather unpleasantly.

"MOTHER OF FUCKING MERLIN!" he cried when the water was dumped on his face. Jumping up, he wiped at his face, the expression across his face of utter fury. "What the fuck what that for?!"

Elena couldn't help herself. She let out a bright burst of laughter as he leapt out of bed, a hand clapping over her mouth to try and contain the giggles, to no avail. The expression on his face was absolutely priceless, and she would have done it twenty times over, if she knew she'd get that sort of reaction every go.

"W-" She was interrupted by a laugh. "We need to go to class." She pressed her lips together desperately trying to regain composure, but it was another failed effort, and the laughter sprung forth again.,

Ben didn't appreciate it that his sister was laughing at him. He didn't find it funny. Sitting up, he stared at her through narrowed eyes, his gaze glaring. "It's not funny," he muttered, pushing his now wet hair out of his eyes.

And she just kept on laughing. "Not going, dunno why you think you're making me go."

Elena was wiping at her eyes, teared up from laughing so hard, when she moved to sit next to him, wrapping her arms about his torso. "Bloody hell, I've missed you Benny," she said, grinning. She gave him a small squeeze. "And you're going. Because you love me so much that you don't want to see me upset, right?"

Ben was slightly startled by her sudden gesture of love towards him, her jumping onto his bed and hugging him, but he slowly returned the gig. Wrapping his arm loosely around her shoulders, he sighed. "I missed you, too." He grimaced at her use of his nickname, and that she insisted on making him go to class. "I'm sorry if you get upset at my lack of attendance, Elena, but I'm not going. I've started off the new year badly, anyway." If she was going to get mad at him for anything, it certainly wasn't going to be about that anymore.

"You're already up, Ben," she pointed out, before hesitating. She pulled back a bit to look at him. "What's gone wrong? You've only been here a day. It couldn't have been that bad." He wasn't Westly, after all, who had just been outed in front of everyone.

Ben shot Elena a look. He didn't appreciate her pointing out the obvious. "I'm going back to bed," he said, falling back onto his bed. When she asked him what had been wrong, he groaned, his eyes closed. "Everthing," he stayed vaugly, not exactly wanting to tell her what was wrong.

Elena laughed softly as he collapsed, nudging his side. "C'mon, don't be a git. You'll only have to listen to me complain all week if you don't go, and you know how much you hate that."

She quirked a brow at his reaction. "What's wrong, Benjy?" she asked, frowning. "Did something happen?"

"I really don't care at this point. I'm not going today. I'll go tomorrow, but not today." Sure, if he didn't feel like going tomorrow he wouldn't, but for now, he just wanted to lay in bed and stop talking.

Leave it to Elena, who had way more problems that he did, to worry abouy him. He sighed heavily; he hated lying to her. "Nothing really," he said, his eyes still closed. "I just got pissed last night and ended up in some random corridor. I fell, hit my head, and now I'm paying the price. And Evan's being an asshole," he added quickly to take away from him being drunk.

"Ben-ny," she whined, voice rising into that whiny octave girls have. "You'll ruin my entire day if you don't go." It was a lie, of course, but he knew as well as she did he needed to go to class. Seriously, the bloke needed all the help he could get.

"That's not what's wrong," she said matter-of-factly. "Because I already know you've been drunk, and that's nothing new. Although Evan being mad at you is. He's always so sweet to me..." She trailed off. "But really, Ben, you can tell me. You know you can tell me anything, right?"

Ben raised an eyebrow at his sister. "You're lying." He stayed. "If me going to class makes your day, you have a pretty sad life." He would have added that she should go and bother her boyfriend, but he felt that that would be mean. And although right now he wanted to toss Elena right out on her sear, it still meant a lot to him that she was in his life.

Ben's eyes shot open and he glared at her when she said that Evan was sweet to her. "He's not mad at me, he's pissed because his brother takes it IP the arse." He didn't care if they wanted to keep it a secret, it was bound to get out sooner or later. And this was Elena, he told her everything. Well...almost everything. She kept pressing the matter, and he knew that if she found out who it really was that he had been spending time with she was going to be furious. "It's just.." he said, sighing, "it's just all this...shite. What happened with...them," he said, talking about his parents, "and you.. And.." he trailed off.

Elena smiled weakly. "Then I guess I have a pretty sad life." She quickly forced her smile to broaden considerably. "But you can make it all better by being responsible!" She looked at him with big brown eyes. "Pleeease?"

Elena was caught off guard. "You know? How did y-" Her eyes widened. "Oh, Adam's coming clean. Wow." She hoped it wasn't going to piss anyone off that she found out before most. Oh well.

"Benjy, that's over," she said softly. "I stayed with the Woods, and it was... nice. Their dad is... well, not ours, I guess." She let out a small laugh. "I missed you, though. It's not the same, not having you bugging me all the time." She ruffled his already mussed hair.

"What was the 'and', though?"

Ben just groaned simply. He wasn't going. She was making this difficult, but he wasn't going. "I'm sorry, El. I'm not going."

"Yeah," he muttered, his eyes still closed and his hand on his forehead. "I guess Adam...told Evan. Evan is pissed, but he wont stop being a little shite." He left out exactly why, since he couldn't very well explain to his sister that his friend had pissed him off when talking about Elena and the girl he fancied.

The girl he fancied.

That was an entirely different issue, and he couldn't tell Elena. Not only would she tease him, but she would pry. And she would pry, and want to know who she was. And when he told her who she was, she was going to freak out.

Ben laughed loudly, just one, short, loud luahg, when she said that Oliver Wood was not like their dad. "Oh, that's saying a lot," he said, swatting blindly at her hand that was messing his hair up. "I think bloody Voldemort would have been better than our dad." Arsehole.

Ben opened one eye and peered at her. "The and.." he started slowly, "is.." He sighed, falling back, his hands going to his eyes again. "A lot of shite, El. I spent the last...seventeen years of my life not giving a shite about anything, and the last bloody year at this school, and suddenly... I care."

"He's probably just upset," she said with a small smile. "People do stupid things when they're in a bad state." She glanced at him with a knowing look. Ben wouldn't know anything about that. No, not at all. "He's going through some pretty rough stuff. He's a lot more... serious about the blood thing than we are."

She giggled. It was nice, hearing him laugh like that. Everything seemed so serious lately that it was just... good to let go a bit now and then. "Yeah, yeah. Well, you might... you know, ease up on Jacob a bit, by the way. He's very sweet, really. He's a good guy, Ben." And, quite frankly, Elena had never been as happy as she had been since they'd started dating.

"No, you've spent the past seventeen years pretending not to give a shite about anything," she said with a small smile. "So... what's come along to make you realize you're human, hm? Is it the girl you were talking about this summer?"

Ben ignored her first comment about people doing stupid things; he wasn't about to fall into that trap she had just set and admit that. he knew damn well that he did stupid things for no reason. He was proof right there, having gotten pissed drunk and nearly caught the night before just because he was upset. "You're telling me," he said about Evan being serious about the blood status, "he told me that I was," he held up his two fingers two form quotes, eyes still shut, "running away from my responsibilities." He let his hands drop to the bed. "Bullshite."

It certainly felt good to laugh, even if it was a bit more sarcastic. His face grew serious when she said to ease up on Jacob, raising an eyebrow, his eyes opened now. "I should be having a talk with him soon," he said--as if Ben were really responsible. But he was when it came to Elena. Especially since she was disowned now..who was going to take care of her now? He was, that was for certain, even if he could barely take care of himself.

He sighed heavily. She remembered the girl from the summer. "I dont know, Elena," he replied simply. "I've never.." he didn't want to say 'he never felt this way', because it seemed overdramtatic and cliche, and Ben was anything but. "I don't know why, she's just.." Different. Complicated. Innocent. Beautiful. "She's definitely not like any of the stupid girls I usually talk to. And normally..I wouldn't even talk to her."

She chuckled. "Ben, like I said, he's pissed off. He feels like his brother's abandoned him, I'll bet. Poor bloke. At least Adam had the sense to tell him before he found out from someone else. That'd be awful."

Elena frowned at him as he started up about Jacob. "No, you shouldn't, not unless you're going to thank him for standing up for me at the wedding or letting me stay with him over the summer when I had nowhere else to go." She crossed her arms over her chest.

A huge grin took over Elena's features. Her brother actually had a genuine crush on someone. She hadn't seen Ben actually consider dating a girl past more than trying to get a shag out of her since... well, ever. "Why? Because she's bookish? Isn't that what you were saying?" She hesitated. "Wait! Is she the one who got you to read that book over the break?"

He felt his stomach do a mini-flip. Was this the same thing, him hiding Isabella from his sister? Would she be even angrier if she found out from someone else? He wasn't even sure how she was going to react to this.

Ben didn't exactly want to thank Jacob Wood for anything. He didn't like him. But deep down (very, very deep down) he had to admit that Jacob was a good guy. And if Elena loved him..Elena had really good judgement. And what made Elena happy meant a lot to Ben, even if he didn't want to admit it. He just wasn't about to get all buddy buddy with the Gryffindor Quidditch captain and become best friends with him. "Whatever. I still want to talk to him."

When that huge grin crossed her features, Ben rolled his eyes. Figures, she'd find that highly amusing. Such a girl. "Because she's..basically everything opposite of the normal girls I talk to?" Shag, snog, whatever. His eyes widened then. "How did you know I was reading a book?" He had tried to keep that so secretive.

"You're not nearly as sneaky as you think you are," she answered, smirking. Elena almost always had a general idea of what Ben was up to, though it became more difficult when they were in school and weren't around each other quite as much as at home when they had to entertain one another. She had been shocked, of course, to find him actually reading something, but she wasn't about to say anything for fear that he'd be embarrassed and stop. Ben was ridiculous like that.

"Well, maybe that's why you actually like her, you know? Because she's not what you're used to, which means... you don't just look at her as another snog. That's a good thing, Ben." She grinned. "And if she got you to read something, you must really like her, hm?"

"And you're far too sneaky for me." Ben was too lazy to be sneaky. Sure, he had laid on his bed in his room reading a book. Not exactly hiding it. But he had thought he had gotten away with it since Elena hadn't said anything; until then, of course. He had put it away when his brothers and parents were around. "I just skimmed it," he rationalized, "I didn't actually read it." Of course, he had picked up on the fact that the main character had reminded him of Isabella, but he definitely wasn't going to admit that to her.

Ben shrugged, closing his eyes again. "This is the point I was making, Elena. I just don't know. I don't know what it is about it, I don't know why, but I...do." Whatever it was, liked, fancied, thought about her, cared about her. He did. "And I don't know why I did it. I just did." He really didn't know why he did a lot of things.

"Sure," she agreed, smirking. "Of course, Ben." She was a sneaky little bugger when she wanted to be, he was right about that much. But she tended not to do too much snooping, only when Ben was doing something she found particularly interesting. Was it odd that she found the fact that he was reading fascintaing? Probably. It certainly said something about her brother.

"So, I'm guessing you're not going to tell me who she is..." She trailed off, before sighing. "Well, I imagine I'll find out eventually. Have you been talking to her?" She had a feeling her brother wasn't doing as well as he usually did with women, you know, since this one was sober and all. "Does she know you like her?"

It's not that he would exactly blame his sister for being curious as to why he was reading a book. Over the summer, no less. He hadn't read a book since he had started school, not when he was getting detention or being forced to.

Ben smirked. "I'm guessing that's killing you, though," he replied. Oh, she probably would find out.. He should tell her, but he almost didn't want to. At the same time, though...he almost did. "She doesn't know anything," he replied. "I don't remember what I said to her yesterday when she found me..drunk. I think she's the one that brought me back here.." He rubbed his head, remembering the fall and the hit on the head with a throbbing pain. "The last time I coherently spoke to her, though..I was yelling." He felt a pang of guilt. He still felt really bad about that. "And I think I made her cry," he continued, his words mumbled.

"You yelled at her?!" she exclaimed, eyes wide. "Ben! Why would you do that?! And you made her cry?! How can you possibly expect to win a girl over if you're making her miserable? What did you do?" It wasn't entirely unusual for Ben to leave girls upset, but this one was supposed to be different.
