Throughout the whole summer Westly had actually gone back on his word of sleeping in every day. At least four times a week, Westly had been getting up earlier than Adam even, and for at least an hour was spent on Westly's painting. A portrait actually, of Adam sleeping. It was true when Westly said he didn't paint portraits a lot. He didn't like being watched while he did it. But he had promised Adam before he would do a painting for him, and even if his boyfriend didn't remember or ask about his painting, he kept his promise anyway. He compromised of course, with a portrait of a sleeping Adam. It was precarious at times... since Adam was never usually in the same position, so Westly would have to nudge him a bit without waking him. After the hour was done, he'd keep his work hidden and crawl back into bed and back to sleep curled up next to Adam.

This morning was different however. The painting was done and ready just in time for Adam's 18th birthday. They hadn't been able to celebrate Westly's birthday since they started dating after the fact... but Westly knew he had to do something special for Adam. So Wes had gotten up to arrange his easel set up by the bed with a small cloth to cover the painting till he was ready to reveal it. He crawled back into bed, and placed a kiss on Adam's lips and stroked his hands down Adam's chest. "Wake up birthday boy," he said softly waiting for Adam to wake up.

"Shopping?" Light brows drew together in curiosity. "What are you planning to buy?" he asked, looking down at the man in his arms. The clothes in Japan, as he'd recall were a bit... eccentric. It wasn't very Westly, though an image of his boyfriend in a maid's get up was amusing. He looked away laughing, but recovered quickly when asked. "Well, that would be a surprise. I don't want to feed you everything we're doing. That wouldn't be fun. The point of this tradition is to go with the flow..."

"Mmmhmm," Westly said grinning and looking at Adam's curious look. "Well... some designer jeans, some funky shirts... well I can't tell you everything. You'll just have to wait and see," he said, and didn't feel so bad about it when Adam was withholding on information. "Excuse me, we're already breaking tradition because I'm going with you. So you always know what you're doing, so I should know too!"

"I don't always now what I'm doing." Adma retorted gently in a matter-of-fact tone. "There is one reason I want to go to certain places. I do them once I get there, but the rest of the things I do are products of sponteneity. It's fun." His hands absently ran up and down Wes' spine as he spoke, a gesture that relaxed him more than anything. "Come on, just... let me surprise you? I promise you you'll adore me for it. Well... adore me more..." he chuckled heartily.

"Now come on, don't be so hard on yourself," Westly said to Adam's matter-of-fact tone. Maybe he was spontaneous a lot of the time, but he actually planned a lot too. "It does sound fun, but you can't honestly wander through a whole country without a plan. We only have a day after all," he said pouting his curiosity at it's height now. "Can't you at least tell me where we are staying the night? I already love you, but I'm rather impatient when waiting for things that make me adore you more."

"Oh, I always plan. I have a plan for everything, you know that. But I was just explaining that in the tradition, I never always know where I am going, who I'll end up meeting, where I sleep... It's the whole point of everything. Living. But I'm always equipped with an escape plan the next day just in case. This time though, I am with company. I cannot just let you sleep... anywhere. No." He shook his head lightly, brush strokes of blond hair falling over his face. He blew at them impatiently. "This time, I cam eprepared. But I will not tell you. Live a little, love. You'll know within the day anyway!"

Well Westly supposed it was a bit of comfort to know that Adam did know where they were staying for the night... even if he wouldn't tell him. "Alright fine. I'll just have to wait," Wes said with a sigh reaching up to brush the hair out of Adam's face. But still... Adam's explanation left him unsettled. The way Adam said not knowing who he'd meet... and where he would sleep. He didn't like the sound of it.

"Something on your mind?" Adam asked. there was a srange expression that crossed Wesly's features when he had explained how he does his tradition. It was one that left him wondering what was going through his mind, and like with most things, Adam doesn't like being left in the disuieting silence. A hand circled the wrist Westly was using to brush his hair back from his features. "Tell me..." he whispered, but there was a tone akin to begging intertwined with his words.

"I don't really... want to say," Westly said when Adam grabbed his wrist and asked him to tell. It wasn't important... and Westly didn't want to think about it anyway. It was in the past, when Adam and Wes hadn't even thought of being together so it shouldn't even matter... "When you say... you didn't know who you'd meet up with, or where you'd sleep... are you saying that-" Wes said but stopped and bit his lip. "Nevermind, I don't want to know," he said burying his face in Adam's shoulder.

Adam's gaze didn't falter from Westly's face even through the uick succession of emotions that crossed his features. He was silenced instantly by the look of pain in those eyes, then sighed, wrapping his arms tighter around the other's shoudlers when he hid on his shoulder. He was about to answer his uesions when the other expressed hwo he didn't want to know after all. Yes, he had been with different people in different countries before, but even so, he's always considered that he's still spent his birthdays alone. "I'm spending my birthday with someone I love for the first time today." He told him. "The first time. I understand if you'd rather not hear what has happened in my past, even though I know you have an idea. But I would like tto ask that you... do not dwell on such thoughts? I'd rather not think about it myself..."

It was stupid really. Westly knew that Adam had been with other people. Even the other countries bit he knew too, since Adam lived in Venice on his own for how long now? But it was still annoying to think about. Even if Westly was guilty of the same thing... He lifted his head up when Adam said he was spending it with him someone he loved. "I know..." Westly said leaning up to kiss Adam quickly. "I'm just being stupid... worrying about things like that. You don't worry about things I may have done."

"Oh? You think so?" Adam countered, laughing. If only Westly knew how much it brought him physical pain to simply think of the scene he had seen in the past Christmas Party, when Westly had been with some other man. What more anguish did he bring upon himself when he thought of what could have happened if he had not walked in on them, what has happened with Westly and other men. Jealousy would tear at his chest, but he often just hid it to himself, knowing no good would come of it if he'd dare let Westly know that he's been thinking about such nonsensical matters.

"No, don't say that. You're not stupid." Adam said, taking the other's face in his hands. "Look at you. I've upset you. I should have been more careful with the things I've said. Sorry." He leaned up to kiss his cheek. "Let's not think about it any longer. This day is all about you and me. Saying I'm... excited about it is a shameful understatement. Now, should we pack? We can bring one luggage for both our things?" It was such a couple thing to do, but to him, it has become quite... natural. "For your purchases- which I would think would be a lot- we can just bring a bigger luggage, put the smaller one in it so we'll only have to shrink one." A grin.

"Yes... that is what I think," Westly said considering Adam for a moment. If he did worry about it, he never let him know about it. And Adam was certainly there more, for... Westly sudden encounters. Like the french boy at Christmas. And Scorpius, which was completely not his fault.

"I forgive you," Westly said when Adam kissed his cheek. He would have gone on about how he'd read into all that himself but... he didn't want to think about it anymore either. "Okay," he said. He needed to get back into his excited mood, because really, it was exciting. They were going to Japan! "Sounds practical. We're only going for one day," he said nodding in agreement and grinned when Adam suggested the extra bag for his purchases. "Yes I certainly approve. You know me so well." Westly took that moment to steal another kiss.

After the last kiss placed in his mouth, Adam smiled and patted the other's waist again before shifting him to the side and moving off of the bed and into the walk-in closet at one corner of the room, wearing only his black silk boxers.

It was interesing to see how the space had been divided equally, with one side housing Adam's things and the other Westly's. They were becoming such a... couple. It was interesting to think of hw they were at the beginning of their relationship; he really had not anticipated that he would be standing where he was nw the year before.

With quick waves of his wand, two large luggages- one smaller than the other- flew down from the topmost shelf to the center of the room before he started magically folding and arranging his clothes on the bag. He filled only half of the bag. "Oh, and bring your... swimming trunks, yeah?" he told Westly as he packed his toiletries. "Unless you'd rather swim naked, that would be complately fine with me..."

Westly pouted a bit when Adam carefully pushed him off and got up and off the bed. He knew they had to go in a little while... but still Westly liked being lazy in the morning. So he just repositioned himself on the bed watching Adam head over to the closet.

When Westly saw their closet, he was mostly surprised that Adam had enough to equal his own wardrobe. And that it all fit in the closet... but it could have been transfigured to fit more. Westly had just never asked Adam if he'd done anything to it.

He arched an eyebrow at that suggestion. "We're going swimming?" he asked as if to get a hint of what they were doing. By now Westly actually got off the bed to go pick out his own clothing he needed to pack. "It sounds like you'd prefer for me to leave them home."

"Swimming..." Adam echoed reflectively, placing his packed toiletries neatly over his immaculately folded shirts in the bag. "Perhaps." he said with a shrug, his tone neither affirming or denying it. He chanced a look at Wes as he entered the closet, then smirked at the question. "Am I that transparent?" he asked, grinning broadly as he took a chair that was propped in the corner of the room and brought it beside the open bags, turned it so it was facing him before he straddled the seat, propping his folded arms on the back. For a second he was merely content in watching his boyfriend move about the space. "Although if you prefer to bring them, I'm not going to protest of course. Clothing will always be optional between the two of us. You can put some on, you can not put them on. It all depends on your mood, really." he babbled on. "And stop trying to figure out what we're doing and where we're going. I want to be able to surprise you!"

"Useless..." Westly muttered to himself when Adam hadn't given away any details. So they were going somewhere with the option of swimming... or being in water. And at least private enough that Wes didn't have to wear a bathing suit if he didn't want too. "Yes, you are," Westly said grinning to Adam's question. But then he busied himself in the closet picking a couple of his favorite shirts, and jeans. He came back out to lay the stuff on the bed and he watched Adam curious the way he was sitting, watching him. "Yes but I still know what you prefer," he said when Adam was still on the clothing. He stuck his tongue out at Adam and started folding his clothing and put them in his half of the luggage. "Meanie," Westly said when he wasn't allowed to figure it out.

"I resent that fair, Westly." Adam said dramatically, a hand now poised over his heart as if truly hurt by his words. "I'm no meanie. I'm being very nice to you. Surprising you, taking you travelling. Loving you like a decent almost-husband should." The words, though unintentionally said, felt... true. They were living together, weren't they? Constantly planning their lives with each other, sleeping in the same bed. He qualifies int he category superbly.

The pause for his thoughts was breif, hardly noticeable. "You'll thank me for keeping you in the dark late. Oh, and I suggest you bring the trunks just in case." he said, smiling. "I like unwrapping my gifts." A hearty chuckle.

Westly chuckled at Adam's overly dramatic action taking offense. He knew he didn't really, but after listening to him, Westly let out a sigh and went over to kiss Adam's forehead. "I know you're amazing, you don't have to rub it in," he said before that last part sunk in. Almost-husband... It sent a shiver through him to imagine it. Westly gave Adam a quick smile before turning back around to grab the rest of his things.

Sure... they lived together. They were in love, and had pretty much vowed to stay that way forever but- husband... They weren't even open yet. It may have been a passing comment but still- it made Westly happy, but made him remember what they hadn't done yet.

"I know it will all be worth it in the end," Westly said sarcastically about the surprise. He smirked though looking over at Adam as he came back with his own toiletries in the bad. "Oh I know you do," he said about Adam unwrapping his gifts.

"Oh, I like rubbing it in. Sometimes you forget it's a good thing, and use it as a reason to get mad at me." Adam carefully explained, propping his chin on his folded arms, his lower lip pouting out as he did so. Like a kid who has been scolded. Although he did smile in the slightest when Westly kissed him. "You have to be fined for those kisses. You misuse them into making me forgive you immediately. Completely unfair, I say..."

"It's good that you know." Adam said, laughing, taking in the view of his Westly finishing up with packing. After, he stood and made is way to the shower, casually pulling Westly with him. "Come, my love, we need to bathe..." Once inside, he quickly divested himself of the single clothing he had on and jumped in the shower, turning on the hot water as he did so...

"Not all the time..." Westly said giving a pout of his own. Though Adam was trying to pull the same ploy with him, but Westly grinned when he succeeded with the kiss alone. "You love my kisses. Besides you've already told me that I misuse my right to pout too," he said grinning when Adam said it was unfair.

He had been finishing up, when he suddenly felt Adam tugging him along. "But I'm not done..." he protested as they went. "'We'? Or you just want me with you," he said taking that moment to watch Adam strip off his boxers, and looking at that lovely bare rear. He pulled his own knickers off, so he could step into the shower with Adam. He wrapped one of his arms around Adam's waist and leaned into Adam's side affectionately.

"Maybe." Adam said with a shrug. "But yes, I ahppen to love your kisses. Which makes it terribly unfair 'cause you don't seem to hold the same love for mine..."

A sound sigh escaped his lips when he felt the other stand beside him under the shower, skin against skin. "I should get you cleaned up." He puled the other in front of him before he reached for the shampoo bottle on one side and started to lather his Westly's hair, all while his lips stole kiss after kiss on his neck...

"That is SO not true. I love you kisses, and I will accept them at every opportunity you wish to kiss me. And I'll even steal some kisses when I feel like it," Westly said with a teasing huff.

Westly sighed closing his eyes as Adam washed his hair. There was something very relaxing about that... very therapeutic. And well it also helped that Adam was kissing his neck, and was standing very close and very naked. He pressed his ass back against Adam's hips teasingly.

He reached for the soap to lather up his hands, and he turned so he was facing Adam, and Westly ran the soap and his hands down Adam's chest.

Adam's expression turned into one of thoughtfulness. "I think you might need to prove that to me." he said, pulling the other closer. "Any time would be a good time..."

A sound that was a cross between a sigh and a moan escaped his lips at the delicious friction of thier bare bodies when Westly suddenly ground his hips back against him. "Don't do that to man, Wes." he scolded playfully, biting his neck lightly.

Wes' hands had always been a source of fascination for Adam. They were quite feminine compared to his, long pale fingers gliding over the expanse of his chest. His hands then carefully took the shampoo and worked on his own hair for a second, before he took the soap from Wes' and lathered the other's body himself. Westly was going to make a suggestion of anytime... but he figured it would just ruin their playful mood. "I'll just have to prove it to you in Japan," he settled for instead, grinning at being pulled closer. He grinned even more hearing that moan from Adam's lips. "But I want too," he said but his voice fell to a gasp when Adam bit his neck.

Merlin this felt so good, and he was going to be very frustrated if Adam decided on not... doing anything. Wes let his hands explore Adam's chest, loving the feel of those muscles under his hands, already slick from the water and soap. Likewise he moved his hands over Adam's arms, until Adam took control of cleaning him. He sighed and gasped in pleasure, feeling Adam's hands everywhere. He really was enjoying this too much, and it was just annoying since... Adam was clearly avoiding that lower part of his body that remained untouched.

"Are you sure you don't want another birthday gift before we go?" Westly asked teasing, but his hand moved down Adam's hip to the base of his cock rather boldly, and he leaned up to kiss Adam.

"In Japan?" This came as a surprise to Adam. He would very much be inclined to being proven wrong, but it appeared that the other would much like to wait- just as he was making Westly do in knowing their last destination. A sigh. "Fair enough." he said, raising both hands in defeat. Then his voice dropped to a seductive low when he continued. "And no. Don't do that now." Strong hands held his hipas steadily, before reaching between then to lightly knead the firm flesh of his behind. "We can't be late for our trip. You can do that as much as you want later, I promise." Even as the other ceased the base of his cock, causing a loud hiss to escape his teeth, he closed his eyes and shook his head. "Think I should wear something... festive?" he asked him. "Or stick to a white shirt and trousers?"
