WHO: Phoenix Malfoy and Mini Weasley
WHAT: A chance encounter
WHEN: Afternoon
WHERE: Diagon Alley
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Closed / In Progress

The day was hotter than any he could remember. Phoenix sat outide Florian Fortescue's that ne summer afternoon under the shade of a red and white umbrella. In front of him sat a cold beverage of peppermint shake, a napkin beside it. By his feet were packages- the fruits of a day's worth of purchasing supplies from the stores that lined the street of Diagon Alley for his upcoming school year. The remaining days of his summer promised to be busy because of his brother's wedding, and being the responsible lad he was, he had figured he should do his shopping earlier.

Phoenix was naturally alone, having not been used to do chores with the burden of a companion. His stance remained casual, his posture pristine as he leaned forward and took a generous sip of his drink, a relief from the blazing heat. Despite the heat, he looked pristine as ever, wearing a long sleeved shirt, a thin jumper, and trousers. He looked quite different, too, with his hair newly trimmed to a much shorter style for the wedding, the dark shade of his roots compared to his siblings seemingly much pronounced now. He looked more mature, the lines of his face more defined.

Leaning back against his chair, he looked up and watched the white clouds that adorned the cyan skies...

Phoenix has slowly settled back on his own seat when she had agreed to take the place in front of him, the smile on his lips having not wavered int he slightest as he did so. The smile she had on her lips made his heart skip, and marvelled at the fact that despite the time apart, she still had the same effect on him. "Your cousin?" he asked, leaning down to the side to move his purchases to make more room for her. "Which one?" he asked, having heard of a lot of her relatives from her before. Light eyes then searched for her own purchases. "I had been shopping as well. I must ask, what has found your fancy this afternoon? I had frequented the shops and none have captured my attention, so I had stuck to the required list for Hogwarts." His yes darted breifly to the glass windows that lined the front of the store. "Are you hungry?" he asked. "What would you like me to order for you? They have the best hot fudge sundae. I know you like chocolate..." It was not often he was given the chance to ask her this, for they were always stuck in the confines of school. In fact, he should be wary of those who will see him with her, but at the moment he did not care.

"Dora... Well, Nymphadora, but we call her Dora." Mini replied, settling her bags next to her on the floor. "She's in our year but in Hufflepuff. She's one of the few identical twins that are at school." She was sure he must have seen her in class. "Not many things, actually. I'm afraid the same that has happened to you has happened to me. I bought mostly sweets for my cousin and I and a dress I found too cute to leave it in the store." She said looking at him with a smile on her lips.

She absently played with the necklace he had given to her on Christmas and which she never took off, when he asked is she was hungry. It surprised her a little that he remembered she liked chocolate; but something told her he would remember. "I'll try trust you with the hot fudge sundae." She answered.

"Nymphadora." It certainly was a mouthful of hard sounds. "Yes, I certainly recall you mentioning her and her twin. One has dark hair, and one is a blonde. Which one is Nymphadora?" he asked. A pale hand reached between them to his shake's straw and he absently stirred his drink as they conversed, returning the smile she directed at him breifly. "How come you're alone?" he asked.

His light eyes were caught by the way her fingers tugged at her necklace, and upon closr inspection he saw the familiar pendant that dangled from her neck. A smile reached his red lips and he looked at her meaningfully, grateful that she still wore his gift. "Stay here." he instructed as he went inside the store to purchase her order for her, and after, retreated back to his seat and placed the sundae in front of her. "Try it."

Mini was again surprised by his memory and attention to detail. She never imagined a Malfoy would've paid attention to her cousins, but she was glad she was wrong. "The blond one." She answered with a small smile. "I like shopping alone." She shrugged lightly. "I find it more relaxing than being dragged around with someone else." Mini ran a hand through her hair, brushing a lock of hair off her face.

She smiled when he did, finding it impossible not to smile when he gave her those smiles. She gave him a little nod and waited for him, until he came back with her drink. "Thank you." She said, smiling at him yet again. She took the straw with two fingers and brought it to her lips. "Wow, it's true. This is the best hot fudge sundae I've ever had." She said after she tried it. It really was good, and the company she had made it even better.
