Hogsmeade had, no doubt, been an enjoyable experience. Braden had gotten to stretch his legs outside of the castle walls for a bit, and meanwhile enjoy the sight of some seventh years who clearly had no control over their color-changing hair. It had a been a good time while it lasted, but now that it was over, Braden was left quite unsatisfied. The change from all that excitement to none at all was just too drastic. He'd been forced to take action, and that action had been to call upon Miss Zara Flint, whom he was certain was equally bored as he. Of course, there were others he might have called upon to join him in this adventure he had decided to set out on, but there was no one Braden liked spending time with so much as Zara Flint, though she might not know it. She was his best friend... and a bit more, not that he'd admit it.

With his pocket full of a bag of sweets he had purchased for her at Hogsmeade, Braden made his way to the Slytherin common room entrance- early, of course. Upon reaching it, he adjusted himself slightly, smoothing out his collar, dusting off a pant leg, fidgeting with his hair a bit. But that all stopped as soon as he heard the entrance opening. Braden waited for her to appear, classic Capper smile in place.

Zara didn't have a clue what he wanted to do, she normally didn't ask questions when it came to Braden and coming up with ideas, or him basically telling her they were going to do something. She knew her family wasn't the biggest fans of anyone in Gryffindor but she re ally enjoyed her time with Braden, he was among a very small select people that she was completely honest with, that she actually managed to be herself around. Zara didn't often show the emotions that she really did feel, but Braden had seen a number of them. She sighed kicking of the flats she'd been wearing and slipped on a pair of trainers.

Zara made her way to the common room muttering something to Tony about how he had to tell her how his time with that girl she'd seen him with went and she headed out of the common room. Opening the entrance she walked out and couldn't help but smile softly at his normal smile. Somehow Zara didn't know what she'd do without that smile.

She walked up to him giving him a half questioning look, half happy-curious look before finally speaking. "So where are we going?" She asked.

That smile widened at the sight of her. Sometimes he forgot just how pretty she was. It didn't make sense to him that she wasn't constantly swarmed by blokes. Maybe it had something to do with her shyness, or perhaps it was the fact that she actually had class, so the riff raff knew better than to make the useless attempt. Whatever the case, he didn't mind. It meant more time with her for him.

"Hey," he greeted cheerfully. "Well, it wouldn't be much of an exploration if we knew where we were going, right?" Braden always liked a good adventure. "Maybe the upper floors?"

Zara didn't think much about the fact that she didn't seem to ever have men around her, it wasn't really something she thought about it. When it came to her sister, she was the one that was known for being beautiful, not Zara. She was just the black sheep of the Flint family. She laughed rolling her eyes at him.

She looked up, even though it was just up at the ceiling. The upper levels didn't sound too terrible, but she didn't want to walk into anyone that might be doing... anything, but he brought up the upper floors. "Sure, and if that doesn't make your adventure thirst go away for the day, we could always go outside." She commented smiling slightly, it was a pretty big smile for Zara. A normal person it'd be a pretty small smile.

Avalon was a good-looking girl, certainly, but it was in a very different way than Zara. Zara had eyes a boy could get lost in if he wasn't careful. Besides that, Zara had a much more beautiful personality. She didn't judge people the way her sister did, and she wasn't always seeking the attention Avalon was. He liked that about her.

"Sounds good," he answered, before remembering the weight in his pocket. "Oh! By the way, I got these for you at Hogsmeade. I thought you might like them." He had been careful not to buy anything too sweet, as he knew Zara wouldn't like them, but had managed to come up with a decent assortment for her. Withdrawing the honeydukes bag, he offered it out to her, hoping she wouldn't be displeased.

Zara looked up at him with a blush and a smile. "You take too good of care of me." She said giving him a sideways hug. Again something she didn't do with many people, but it was Braden, he didn't seem to ever want to hurt her, use her or anything along the lines she normally felt people wanted from her. Besides he was one of her best mates, he was pretty much the only person that got her to go on adventures like this.

"Thank you." She added taking the bag and looking into it. Her face lit up a little bit more as she looked into the bag before reaching in a pulling out one of the less sweet caramels before leaving it open offering him some. She actually looked up at him again with a grin... Yup, it was rare but he managed to get her to grin pretty easily.. well as easy as anyone could.

Braden's smile turned slightly goofy as she hugged him. He knew for a fact she wasn't one to give out hugs easily. She had never been a particularly touchy-feely person, and he liked knowing she thought him close enough to her to receive one. If only she did it more often. "It was nothing, really."

With her grin, Braden started for the stairwell. "I'm thinking..." he paused, scrunching his face up jokingly as if in deep thought. "Fourth floor."

Zara rolled her eyes in a friendly way. "It is something you know." She said simply. Zara truly believed that, she felt as if he had to know it was something and not nothing. It always made her feel good about herself in a strange way. That was what mates were for though right?

Zara followed him up the stairs rolling her eyes. "Okay, okay!" She said shaking her head at his silly face. He looked silly, she'd tell him that if he gave her that look again. She liked giving him a hard time, never in a mean way though.

Braden waved off her words. "Nah." It wasn't as if he'd bought her something expensive, something that was deeply thought-provoking and emotional. It was a bag of sweets. He'd buy her something much more special for Christmas- and her birthday.

He walked beside her as they ascended the stairs. "I know you secretly love our adventures, Zara." he told her, grinning. "You'd just have been sitting in your common room studying miserably away if I hadn't dragged you out." Of course, if he studied more instead of going on his adventures, he might have managed a better OWL in herbology. But that's another story.

Zara gave him a half glare, it was something to her, it meant something to her... It was an act of kindness that she wasn't exactly used to from the world. Yet, from Braden it did seem to happen more often. Part of the reason she adored him as much as she did. She didn't know what life would be like without a mate like him.

"I'll give you that life is never boring with you dragging me off on adventures all the time. But I do have to study some." She said with a soft smile shaking her head, her hair falling into her face slightly. She lifted up her left hand brushing the strands out of her face as she glanced down at the stairs, the last thing she needed to do was trip.

After several flights of stairs that were no doubt much easier on his female counterpart who happened to be in considerably better shape than he- Braden knew for a fact she could outrun him by a shockingly large margin- the Gryffindor boy reached the fourth floor. "Is it just me," he asked, frowning slightly. "Or did those stairs get taller as we went on?"

He was tempted to sit down and take a break, but he certainly didn't want to look pathetic in front of Zara, so he attempted to weasel himself out of the situation. "Need a break, Zara?"

Zara knew perfectly well that she was in pretty good shape, and although she'd never call Braden out of shape, she was possibly in better shape. She smiled at him softly as they reached the top. She wasn't going to make him carry on without resting for a moment.

"I think it's just you." She teased softly with a nervous smile. Even after all of this time she still got a little bit nervous when she teased him about such simple things.

"Sure. I could use a break." Actually she could care on for a lot longer, but if he was asking it probably meant he needed one, and that was more important to her.

Had Braden been less of a man, he might have blushed furiously at Zara's comments. As it was, he was very masculine, thank you, and only a slight pink graced his cheeks, and considering the fact that he was already flushed from climbing a shocking number of stairs, it wasn't at all noticeable. "I think it's the candy." He patted his stomach, which, for the skinny boy, was considerably slimmer than most and obviously not the cause for his fatigue.

He plopped himself down on the top step of the staircase and glanced up at her. "So how was Hogsmeade, Zara? I didn't see much of you."

Zara smirked slightly as she sat down next to him. If he were anyone else she would have sat a good person between them, however he was Braden so she sat a lot closer. She looked at him with a shrug and a smile at his question. "It was okay, Albus had a fit when I mentioned I might not go, so between him and Elena I got dragged." She said smiling slightly.

"But Elena was telling me about something she's been working on cooking wise and it sounded really interesting." Zara honestly did find what Elena did cooking wise was really interesting, she respected her for it.

"Did you have a good time? Where were you?" She asked honestly curious.

Braden liked that fact. He liked that Zara never seemed as uncomfortable around him as he did around others. He often wished it was for another reason, rather than their being such good friends, but he wasn't complaining. He only wished she would be more comfortable touching him. It was always so... electric when she did. Not that he'd dare tell her so, or anyone else for that matter.

"Albus?" he asked, hardly managing to keep a frown off his face. Albus Potter was not the sort of bloke he would have preferred her to hang around. He was nothing but trouble so far as girls were concerned. "I didn't know you two were so close." He'd be keeping an eye on the youngest Potter brother from now on, that was for certain. "Elena is pretty creative though," he agreed. "I suppose it's in her genes, with the restaurants her family own."

He scratched the back of his neck at her question. "It was nice to get out for a bit. I had planned on spending time with Sam, but the Shane ended up asking her to go with him. Apparently, it went well. It's odd, though. He's never dated one of my good friends before." Braden wasn't entirely sure what he would do if things went sour between them. Usually, it was easy to blame the other blokes for being a jerk, but it was much harder when his brother, whom he knew to be a genuinely good guy, was involved. "Bought a few things. Nothing too terribly exciting."

He stretched his legs out before him a bit, pointing and flexing his feet. "Alright. We'd best get moving before I can't convince myself to get back up."

"Yea. Albus said he'd kidnap me if I didn't go." She shrugged slightly. He didn't look to happy that she'd gone with Albus, but Zara didn't really get why. She was surprised slightly, but she just shrugged. "Close, but not too close." She said shrugging slightly. Zara liked Albus, but she wasn't close to him at all.

"Yea, she's good with all of that." Zara shrugged slightly. She always liked Elena, it was one of the few people she really actually would talk to. It made it a lot easier. Zara let her thoughts drift back to Hogsmeade for awhile. She looked back at him as he told her about maybe going with Sam. "Oh. Did she have fun with Shane?" She asked with a small shrug and a smile. It was hard not to smile though.

"Yea, I'm ready." She said softly standing up. and offering him a hand. "Come on slow poke." She teased him slightly, she didn't mind teasing him sometimes, other people she'd get too nervous.

"Ah, well I hope you had fun, even if you had to be kidnapped for it." Braden supposed he had come rather close to kidnapping her on this evening, if he thought about it. He hadn't exactly asked if she wanted to come. Sometimes he wondered if he should be more proper around her. She was, after all, a lady, but also one of his best friends. He liked to think she didn't mind, but he also knew she was much too polite to speak up if she did.

"I think so. They're both a bit on the shy side, so we'll see what happens with that." He shrugged.

Braden blinked at the hand that had been offered, debating whether or not to take it. He knew things should have been the other way around, but not to take it would be rather rude of him. Praying to Merlin that his palms weren't sweaty, he reached out and took her hand. That tingle of her softer skin against his rough hands almost made him jerk back his arm in surprise, but he managed to keep composue, and putting little to no weight on her arm, he heaved himself to his feet. "Thanks."

"It was a good time." She said smiling slightly shrugging slightly. To Zara it felt as though people were always trying to drag her out, kidnap her to do things. She didn't mind, it was just that she wasn't sure what she could and couldn't do. She never had to worry about that around Braden though.

She knew perfectly well he wouldn't actually let her fully help. Zara just always felt comfortable around him. She smiled at him slightly when he was standing. "So are we looking for something? Or are we just going to wander around for fun?"

Zara looked down at her hand, it was still holding his, she finally let go, and let that hand move some of her hair behind her ear. "When are you going to go on a Hogsmeade date with someone?" She asked. Zara merely asked as a bestmate, nothing more.

"Well, this place is full of secret passages and rooms, you know. I'll bet we could find one." Braden had heard stories of all sorts of passageways: ones that went to other places in the castle, even one that went all the way to Hogsmeade! Why should they not be able to find one of those? They couldn't all have already been discovered.

Braden cleared his throat a bit awkwardly as she let go of his hand. He hadn't meant to hold on for so long; he simply hadn't thought to let go, especially while he was enjoying the feeling of her petite hand in his. "A date? What, you mean like an official one?" He shrugged in a manner he hoped appeared nonchalant. "I don't see why people make such a big deal out of it. What's wrong with going with friends?"

"I guess so." She said shrugging slightly. She figured it couldn't hurt if they found some strange way to somewhere odd. Zara wasn't really too worried about it, and if for some reason they got stuck somewhere she figured they'd at least be okay and figure something out. Zara always enjoyed spending time with Braden after all.

She gave him a bit of a puzzled look. "I don't think it really matters, but what's wrong with going with someone as a date?" She asked him tilting her head to the side. Zara couldn't help thinking that something had gone wrong, or someone had hurt him.

"Did something happen?" If he had been anyone else she would have never asked that, but she was honestly worried, and she didn't think showing it would be a bad thing. Maybe he fancied Samantha and now she was spending time with Shane?

"Nothing," he replied hastily, afraid he had offended her in some way. She hadn't had a date to Hogsmeade this past weekend, but what was to say she had never had one before? Looking back, he couldn't particularly think of one, but there had been three years of trips before this one. "There's nothing wrong with it, of course, I just think people put too much importance on it. That's all."

He had taken to trailing his hand along the wall of the corridor as he walked, waiting for it to fall through in some bizarre sort of hidden passage way. "Did something happen?" he echoed questioningly, catching her worried tone. Now she thought he was some emotionally scarred loser? Grand. "No, nothing's happened. "Er- No, at least I don't think so."

Zara hadn't been on any kind of date for a really long time, it was more likely that every single person around he was on a date and she wasn't. Zara wasn't the type of girl that would be on a date very often, she was rarely asked, and she rarely agreed. She figured by now most men gave up. Zara did her best not to think about it at all, sometimes she got jealous that her older sister always seemed to have some kind of date while she never did.

"I guess they do, but at least they have fun right?" She said shrugging slightly. "Or at least some of them do." She added quickly. She'd seen her dormmates crying about it before.

Zara frowned slightly giving him an even more worried look. "Okay." She said softly resting her hand on his arm for a moment. "If something did and you ever need to talk, I'm here." She said with a soft smile. Zara would always be there for him.

Braden preferred not to think about the girls that didn't. It got under his skin to think of blokes taking a girl to Hogsmeade in hopes of bedding her and, after realizing it wasn't going to happen, forgetting and ignoring them completely. Braden was a lover and not a fighter, but sometimes there were people that made him really want to cross the line.

And once more, that familiar buzz was upon him, this time generated from her touch on his arm. He glanced down at it momentarily, before looking up to her with a smile to match her own, though his was perhaps a bit more nervous. "There's nothing wrong, love, but if there is, you'll be the first to know about it, alright?"

As Braden's hands came into contact with a statue, he paused in his footsteps to examine it. A dancing house elf was grinning down at him, but that wasn't what interested him. Peering behind the statue, Braden could swear... "Zara, will you help me move this?" he asked her, knowing that it was probably not the most gentlemanly thing to do, but also knowing Zara was stronger than she looked.

Zara couldn't stop herself from smiling slightly. "I'm glad to hear that." She said softly. Zara was happy to do what she can to help him out, all she wanted was for him to be happy. Happy was important right? Zara looked away from him for a few moments before hearing his voice.

She had to turn around and walk back slightly to him. "What..." She said before figuring out what he said. She moved over to him and helped him push the statue out of the way. Zara didn't think that it was rude at all, she thought it was normal. Helping wasn't so bad. As she helped him push it she didn't pay attention to how far she pushed it.

Once the thing was out of the way she turned to look at Braden.

Braden took the few steps back to where the statue had been, squinting at the wall as if expecting it to suddenly change shape. When this didn't happen, Braden's hand hesitantly extended itself out toward the wall. But rather than coming to a stop as he had expected, his hand passed right through the stone up to his elbow. Wide-eyed, he stared as his half-visible arm and looked to Zara with a delighted grin. The Gryffindor looked like a kid in a candy store at that moment. "Brilliant!"

Of course, Braden hadn't taken into consideration that this... hole in the wall, or whatever it was, could be a one way sort of thing, that whatever went through could, in fact, get stuck there. That was the problem with the Gryffindor courage; it tended to make them do things without much forethought. As such, he looked not in the least bit worried and extended his arm all the way up to his shoulder, feeling nothing but air. "I think we've found one!"

"If we get stuck in there I'm going to blame you forever." She said watching his excitement. As much as her rational thinking was telling her to tell him no... He looked much to excited for his own good. Zara couldn't d anything to hurt that, he was happy. That was all that mattered. Although if she was stuck with someone odd like this, at least it was someone she got along with and liked.

"Lead the way." She said with a half uneasy look but a smile all of the same. It seemed important to her, and she wasn't going to think about it. She glanced at the statue and she was positive it had just smirked at her. If it really was a passage there had probably been an easier way to move the statue. She wasn't going to worry about it though.

Hey, if they got stuck in there, he was going to blame himself forever, but he wasn't worried as he hesitantly poked his head through the wall. It was a dark tunnel, and he had to mutter a quiet 'lumos' to see anything, though there wasn't an awful lot to see, only more tunnel.

"Zara!" he called out to her through the wall, though he probably needn't have called so loud as she was only a foot or so away. "It's okay, come on!" His hand extended back out through the brick (which must have been an odd sight for Zara) to take hers.

Zara couldn't stop the smirk from her face as she watched Braden head into the wall. Even though she was used to it, it still looked really weird to her in some ways. She smiled when he called a bit loudly, but he was excited, she wasn't going to deny him that.

She took his hand when she saw it come out of the wall. She figured that was what he wanted, or what as expected. Honestly sometimes Zara didn't have a clue. However she was actually a little bit excited about all of this. It wasn't a typical day for her at all but she did enjoy it. She took a step into the wall and looked over at Braden with a soft smile. "Well, I guess we should start forward." She said taking a few steps.

Grinning at the feel of her hand once again in his, Braden took a hesitant step forward, as if the floor was going to do some sort of bizarre Indiana Jones stunt and disappear on him. When it didn't, however, he slowly but surely pressed onward, casting a look back over his shoulder at Zara every now and then.

"D'you think other people know about this?" he asked her, squinting ahead.

"Someone is bound to know about it, but probably not too many." She said softly not letting go of his hand. She'd never admit to it out loud but she was slightly worried, and a little bit of comfort wasn't terrible was it? She just hoped that he didn't mind.

"But I don't know if anyone at school right now does." She said looking at the wall before looking forward as she walked semi slowly, at least if either of them stepped in something they weren't alone.

The thought of being the only one in the entire school to know about what might be at the end of this passageway was enough to make Braden feel almost giddy. His Gryffindor spirit couldn't help but thirst for adventure. If he had lived in earlier years, he undoubtedly would have been an explorer.

After a bit of walking, during which Braden opted to continue holding Zara's hand- for safety reasons, of course- the Gryffindor boy suddenly piped up, "Look at that! Light! We must be near the end!"

She hadn't thought about much. She just sort of walked with him. It was sort of relaxing. She loved the fact that she could spend time with Braden and not say a word. To Zara it was almost more important at times. The moments without words were those that mattered the most to her. She'd never live without the good quiet moments.

She looked up as he spoke. She just smiled as she squeezed his hand. She didn't want to speak. She wanted to make sure he knew that she really was happy to be their. Words weren't going to do that.
