WHO: Adam Pucey, Westly Nott and Oliver Wood, Jr.
WHEN: After Curfew.
WHERE: Abandoned Classroom.
WHAT: Getting Caught.
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Closed / Complete

The numbing cold of recent nights has become something one could easily ignore, Adam realized as he left the warmth of his dormitories to once again brave the post-curfew nights of Hogwarts. Clad in his usual inconscpicuous dark garb, he descended a few steps and took familiar turns that led to the dungeons, his steps casual and his shoulders relaxed. He had one hand in his robe pocket, and his other balancing colorfully-wrapped chocolate truffles, something he knew his chocolate-addicted Wes liked indeed. The fact that what he was doing was breaking school rules has ceased to trouble him- in fact the truth didn't even register to him- for all he wanted to do was see Wes, be with him, and talk to him about everything.

Soon, he found their meeting place for the night: an abandoned classroom. Cliche, but given they're in such a controlled environment, it would have to do. He went inside and closed the door behind him, taking one of the old desks and settling himself on it, waiting for his companion to arrive...

Westly was hoping that he'd get them out of this by at least applying to Oliver's side that seemed to like his sister... but oh no. What the fuck did Adam think he was doing?! Threatening the Head Boy, when they were clearly in shit. His Blue blood influence wasn't going to help him here...

"Wood, seriously don't! There is more at stake here than just a detention!" Westly said, and he nudged back at Adam. "And you shut up," he whispered back to Adam. "Just let us off this once. Pretend you never saw anything!"

True, it had been Adam's intention to threaten, though with the unexpected response from Oliver, he was instantly silenced. His head hung low, the hard thumping in his chest still a constant since the Head Boy's arrival. Though his exterior was calm, he was already panicking on the inside. Thoughts of this news reaching his fathers ears raced through his mind, then his disownment...

"Wood." he started again, despite Westly's warning to keep silent. "I apologize for my... rash behavior. But it is imperative that you keep your silence about what you've sen tonight. As Westly said, there is much more to this than what punishments you can bestow upon both of us. Our worries go beyong detention; it's our lives, our families that are our concern." He swallowed. "I'm appealing to your sympathetic nature and begging that you listen and see our side. Please..."

Oliver's arms came up to cross over his chest as he watched the pair of them, both looking like deer caught in the headlights. What did they know about family issues? Oh no, you're gay! The world is over! Oliver would kill to swap out the option of trading their worries for his own.

"You don't think Callidora deserves to know?" he asked after a moment, gaze focusing now on the younger of the two. "She would understand." His focus shifted back to Adam then. "And you- you really think your life will be over if your parents find out you've got a thing for blokes?"

"Of course she deserves to know!" Westly said not about to being told what to do with his family by Oliver Wood. Sure, he had family scandals. But it wasn't the same thing. He wasn't in a pureblood elite family. And just because he'd been seeing his sister, didn't mean he understood her. "I'm taking my time with that. Maybe you noticed, but she's been depressed for a year. I'll tell her, later, on the right terms. And you should know about what secrets do to families Wood. Especially when they come out!"

"Yes." was his immediate answer. Adam allowed Westly to speak before he did. At Westly's heated tone, his hand immediately reached up to draw soothing circles down Westly's back, silently hoping the other would appreciate the contact. His eyes returned to Oliver after. "Our families are different from yours, Wood." Perhaps as troublesome, though because they were purebloods, they were only too skilled, and determined to hide their issues. "If words gets out, and it will lead to immediate disownment for both our parts. Can you possibly bear the thought of that?" he asked. "You won't be doing the right thing by exposing what you've seen tonight. You know this..."

It was as if the two boys before him had a list titled 'things that will seriously piss off Oliver Wood' and were reading from it line by line. Oliver's hands were clenched into fists, before he suddenly moved to Westley, grabbing him by the collar and shoving him up against the wall. "You don't know the first thing about my family, Nott, so I suggest you shut the hell up about things you don't fucking understand!"

Westly has seriously not tried to piss off Wood. It was just their luck they'd caught him on a bad day, and there wasn't any ways of getting him to empathize. And Westly went from feeling the soothing rubs on his back from Adam, to being yanked by the front of his shirt by Wood. It hurt, getting slammed against the wall, and he'd hit his head causing Westly to tighten his eyes briefly. "Sorry, but you don't know the first thing about mine either, Wood."

Adam had cursed himself when only realized too late what oliver's intentions were. He watched Westly behing pushed against the wall, and it was his initial reaction to pry the other boy off him. His hands found the back of Wood's collar, and with much exerted force, he pulled the other off him and stood in between them. "Don't you dare touch him." he told the other, his voice, though controlled and calm, was lined with unhidden anger. "You need to listen to yourself, Wood. You don't understand what it's like being on our shoes, so maybe you should take your own advice." He held a protective arm out beside him, just in case the other boy decide to attack again, though his eyes were softer now. "I am begging you to listen. Please. Let's keep this all between ourselves..."

Jerked from behind, Oliver released his grip on Westley's collar and let himself be drawn back. His gaze flitted from one boy to the other, his shoulders still tense as he spoke. "If you care so much about your sister, you'd be more careful," he spat in Westley's direction. "I wasn't even looking, and I found you two. Callidora's a hell of a lot more thorough. She could've walked in on you."

He turned his attention to Adam. "And you, Adam, I'd like to think you have more sense than this." His posture stayed rigid as he continued, addressing them both now. "If you pull this shit again, you had better believe your arses are going straight to the headmaster. I'll be back in five minutes, and you had better be gone."

Westly had expected Adam to do something but... he didn't think he would be so angry. It was kind of surprising, and comforting that the other was so protective of him. He fixed his shirt and mantained his composure as he glared at Oliver. He couldn't really disagree what he said about his sister. Though Westly could have mentioned how distracted she was lately, but that was giving Oliver too much credit. "Fine, five minutes. Got it."

Adam's chest rose and fell rapidly, his breathing ragged as if he had ran, as he waited in anticipation. He stared at him when for a moment longer after he spoke, careful to assess whether the other was still considering if he would rat them out. He didn't seem like he would however, even though the tense line of the head boy's composure didn't thaw one bit. "Thank you." A curt nod. "You have our word." he said, his eyes expectant as he waited for the other to leave them.

Oliver eyed them for a second more, before striding out of the room, shutting the door behind him.

It was way too late for this crap.

Westly still didn't have time for relief after Oliver left. They only had five minutes... And there was still no guarantee that Oliver wouldn't go tell his sister. "This is awful..." he said groaning when Oliver was out of the room. What were they going to do now? He looked at Adam waiting for him to say something.

Issues momentarily ignored, Adam turned to Westly the moment the door closed behind Oliver. His hand immediately found the collar of Westly's shirt and he pried them open with gentle hands, eyes quickly searching for any marks of bruises the other boy could have given Westly. A sigh of relief escaped him when he only saw pale marks probably from the other's fingers, but nothing serious. A sigh escaped him, and he ran the tips of his fingers over the other's skin. "If he had bruised you in any way, I would have waited for him to come back here." he whispered, before his troubled eyes returned to Westly. "I know. But I'm here with you. I'll do what I can to keep things the way they should..." It had hurt to see the pain, the anguish behind the other's eyes. He wished he could take them all away, but he knew things aren't that simple. "Tell me... how you're feeling. What's going on in your mind?"

Westly didn't know what Adam was doing when he opened his shirt, until he realized he was just checking for marks. He didn't think there would be any, and if there were he would deal with Oliver Wood himself. Even if Adam had to save him...

"I don't think that would have been the smart thing to do, when we only just managed to convince him," Westly said about Adam waiting for Oliver. He reached to rub the back of his head before look at Adam. It really wouldn't have mattered much to Westly, to get his secret out. He would have just preferred to tell his sister on his own terms. But Westly was going to leave his family anyway, probably face disownment for just leavin. And he was only a second son. Adam had more to lose than him... that was the bigger deal. "I'm thinking, that was a close call," Westly said, all energy and excitement from meeting earlier all gone. He was disappointed in himself, in both of them for not being more careful. "He's going to catch us again. He's still pissed off at us, and he only needs one more excuse to send us to the headmaster," Westly said, though he didn't think it was a great abuse of power just to be pissed off over a remark about his family. "So I think..." Westly didn't want to suggest it but it only seemed rational. "We should take a break. Put some space between us, till we know it's saver." Things had been going so fast, faster than Westly ever allowed. They weren't even thinking anymore, not being cautious. A break would help them mellow out, and get back at it again in a couple of weeks.

Adam listened as Westly spoke, though his expression fell little by little with each word that left the other's lips. Careful hands recoiled when Wes was done as if burned, his expression mirroring his disbelief. "A break." he repeated, the word sounding foreign on his tongue. Stepping back, he turned his head from him. Suddenly, looking at Westly was... painful. He couldn't shake the awful feelings pooling at the pit of his stomach, a feeling he'd compare to the feeing of throwing up. "A break." he said it again with the same tone of surprise. He was silent for the longest time, still as his mind did its best to have a better grasp on the word. "You want us to..." he laughed a humorless laugh, before turning to face the room, his pride more than just a little stung. But more than that, he was feeling something else, an ache accompanied byt almost audible breaking sound coming from his chest- an unwelcomed sensations he's never felt before, or ever given anyone the power to do. Except Westly, it seemed now...

After what felt like an eternity, he spoke, his voice surprisingly calm, though he refused to look at him again. "Fine." his fingers curled into fists on his side. "Go."

At first Westly didn't know if Adam understood what he meant. And he repeated just a couple of words. It was painful to see his reaction, but Westly didn't get it. He said it would only be for a couple of weeks, even if it did pain Westly to think about being apart that long. And it was only a suggestion, a thought, Adam could say no...

The laugh stung as Westly watched all the expressions on Adam's face. What was he thinking? Why wouldn't he say anything else. And he wasn't even looking at him now. It hurt that he wouldn't even look at him. And the coldness in his demeanor, and in his voice when he finally just accepted it and told him to go.

He didn't want to leave. Not without a kiss to last him for their time apart. But Adam looked angry, and Westly didn't want to tempt anything else that would take them longer than 5 minutes. "Fine," he said turning away and walking quietly towards the door. This didn't feel right. It felt like goodbye, and not hinted with promises of seeing the other again soon. Cold shivers of regret ran through Westly, but he was resolved, and they'd clear it up later. They didn't have the time now, and he opened the door and left, heading back to the Slytherin Commons.

The sound of the door closing seemed louder in Adam's ear; he flinched, his eyes closing as he felt the shattering in his chest again. He retreated to the desk and settled on it, immobile, broken by his recent regrets as millions of if only's entered his mind. He only counted a minute before he himself left for his dorms, though he found his legs could only take him as far as his commons. There, he spent his night, until light seeped through the high windows beside him, wondering why suddenly everything seemed so... meaningless.
