Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:complete, day two, jack harkness, rose tyler

WHO: Jack Harkness & Rose Tyler
WHEN: Day Two, evening
WHAT: Two very old friends finally run into each other. Unexpectedly.
WHERE: Ren Faire. Why, no, Jack isn't checking out men in tights.
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Complete

Day one was mostly a blur as far as Jack Harkness was concerned. He'd gotten his key and his diary, met an interesting bloke or five and had quickly escaped to the room he was provided. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, with absolutely nothing familiar. No Hub, no Cardiff, no nothing.

While Jack may have been used to this whole bounding about through the galaxy thing he certainly didn't fancy being plucked from his bed and tossed to universes unknown. Rather rude if you asked him.

Still, after spending the whole of the first day in his room, prodding at his wrist strap and hoping that the King's warning about never leaving was nothing more than an empty threat (because, really, a 'space hopper' should have been enough to get him out of here), Jack knew he had to get out before he drove himself bonkers. The second day brought exploration, still meeting others and trying to make the best of the situation. By mid-evening, Jack found himself at the Ren Faire -- which wasn't a bad place to be as far as Jack was concerned.

Men in tights and women wearing corsets. It was a dream come true.

She was too comfortable to argue, and she knew Jack would never hurt her. Tease her to the point of her smacking him, yes, but never push his advantage. Besides, why would he, he could smile at most anything that moved and get his way. She was hardly worth all of that!

"I'll get around to that investigating at some point," she informed him, stifling a yawn as she buried her face against the soft, strong chest. "Course, always found you attractive. Even in those silly vests." Maybe the 51st century had a different dress style than they did. Or maybe Jack just liked the way those awful things clung to just the right spots. It worked, after all.

"Going to kick me out?" she questioned, glancing up at him with a small smile. One hand reached up to touch his cheek, taking comfort in the fact that he was warm and he was real and he was there. "Do me a favour, though? Don't mention that place again. I want to pretend it didn't happen." That day had cost her so much. She'd even lost her Doctor, even if he had been switched with a new model, so to speak. She'd thought Jack long dead, and she could easily remember the horror and fear at being held captive by a species she knew to be the Doctor's worst enemy. It was definitely on the list of days she didn't want to remember.

Well, as far as Jack was concerned, he'd never push Rose to the point of wanting to smack him. Because he was that damned cute and that irresistible. And, really, who was to say that she wasn't worth all of that? Rose held a very large hold on his heart and had since he found her floating above London. Yes, others occupied his heart as well, but Rose had her own corner.

"Silly waistcoats?" Jack asked, raising a brow. "Are you saying you like the braces better? I'll try and find a couple of those waistcoats just for you, y'know. If it'd make you feel better and more at home." Yes, he knew she found him attractive. Anything did so that bit went without saying and no, Jack Harkness didn't have an ego whatsoever.

Kissing the top of her head, Jack shook his own in response. "Wasn't planning on it. Unless you have some place you'd rather be." He lifted an eyebrow as if to say 'but I know that's not the case so don't even try lying'. Closing his eyes briefly, Jack leaned into that light touch with a sigh. It felt so damned fantastic to have Rose here and he couldn't get over how much he had truly missed her over the years. Now that she was back, Jack wondered how he ever got on without her. "I won't," Jack promised, turning his head to kiss the palm of her hand. "Now, do yourself a favour, close your eyes and sleep. That's an order from your Captain, got it?"
