It was getting late, though it was hard to tell by anything other than his own internal system as dark as everything was. Apparently, the point of this new layout was to strike others with beams. It wouldn't hurt them, but you'd get points for it? Eragon was more than a bit confused by the game, and the world surrounding him. Why wasn't this place making any sense? He'd done so much studying and learning recently, but none of it matched what he was seeing in front of him.

He was reaching that place in his head that proved he was just barely seventeen. He was angry and worried and even a bit scared if he'd admit it. Closing his mind off from Saphira, he wandered off on his own. Though he'd have plenty to answer for later, he needed the time to himself. That and she seemed perfectly content to chase the small goblin creatures where he was...less than content.

He found himself standing at the edge of the large maze, which was apparently untouched by the developments around it. That, in a way, was comforting. Things that didn't change all the time made him feel a little more at ease. Even if it was apparently laced with dangerous creatures and happenings.

Carefully, he reached out a hand, brushing the edges of the entrance. What, exactly, lay on the other side? And was it something he and Saphira could tackle? There seemed to be a belief that, on making it through the obstacle, one could be sent home. They could finish the war, then. For better or for worse. It was something to consider.

"It's obvious, though our species are similar, we have very different traditions," Eragon agreed, his smile widening. He rather enjoyed the idea of learning a new culture from this new friend. Oromis would be pleased with him for embracing the ways of another. "But that just makes it that much more of a pleasure to meet you, Legolas." Mirkwood he hadn't heard of, but Greenleaf was a pleasant sounding and understandable name.

"Orcs?" he asked curiously. This land grew more and more strange. "I'd never heard of vampires till I arrived here. They seem to be quite common, though." He was learning more every day, but he still felt he'd never grasp the entirety of this new world. How could he? Every day something new arrived.

And yet, if he believed in anything, it was in Saphira and his ability to do most anything with her support. "We could manage," he considered out loud, but more to himself than to Legolas. "There aren't too many species that can get by Saphira." Still, it was a somewhat intimidating thought. "Did it take you long, then? To finish the journey?"

"Yes! I am delighted by this." He spoke frankly, not really having the patience for anything else. More than once, it had gotten him into trouble with others, mostly those of other races, but it was who he was and he'd make no apology for that. "I would like to speak with you further, to hear what I can learn from the elves of your world."

The elf nodded complacently. "Yes, orcs. Foul creatures of the dark, made in the first age of the world as a mockery of elves." He held up his bow, which he carried, as always. "Though they soon face their deaths at the wrong end of an arrow when they come near me, or any of my kin." He made a face. "Vampires are more challenging. But they seem to dislike the light of the sun, so it is easy enough to avoid them."

"Saphira?" He tilted his head to the side, obviously curious. "Do you have a friend in this land? I am pleased for you if I do." He often missed his friends. "It did not take long, a mere couple of days." To him, that was like the blink of an eye. "I had many companions, strong, capable. You should do likewise, if you wish to conquer the challenge."
