Day Twelve
Who: Armand and Marcus
When: Day Eleven/Day Twelve, around midnight
What: Armand is hungry!
Where: In front of Marcus' dorm
Rating: Pg 13? R? For hungry vampire
Status: Complete

The time had come to feed again. Oh, it wasn't that he had to, not yet. He was completely healed from his trip into daylight and near death, and he had fed recently enough of Schuldig. But he craved the pleasure of the hunt, even if he wasn't allowed to kill here. He wanted to feel someone struggle helplessly against him, and then make them like it. He was cruel, playful, and found that being brought here to the Underground gave him so many interesting new potential victims.

Although, it wasn't to a new victim that his mind turned, not this time. Instead, he focused on someone he had fed on before, someone who had enraged him beyond nearly anything else he'd felt. The Ranger, by his defiance, and by the prior knowledge he had of Armand that he shouldn't have, had made himself an ongoing target. Surely he'd recovered enough to withstand another visit from Armand. And, if not... well, too bad. He'd made his decision.

That damn resistance that Marcus had to his mental attacks, though. It took the vampire a couple of hours to pierce it, to find the Ranger. Well, that was one more thing Marcus would pay for, he decided. Finally, he'd tracked him down, and then it was so easy to send out the mental call that would bring the Ranger to him. He made it as strong as he could, knowing that there were very few people here, or on any world, who could resist the lure he had cast. It was projected in a tight beam into Marcus' sleeping mind.

Then, he waited. Surely, it wouldn't be long, and then Marcus would come to him. A cruel smile settled on his boyish, innocent-looking face as he stood, alone and apparently unarmed, in front of the door to Marcus' dorm building.

Well, that was clear enough. A pout found its way onto Armand's beautiful features, and it was clear that Marcus' response didn't please him. But as far as he was concerned, the handsome Ranger had made his choice. So he sighed, acting quite put upon, but eventually shrugged and nodded. The choice had been made. "So be it."

He moved close, effortlessly catching Marcus' head between his hands, though he had to reach up to do it. "Such a pity, though. I like it better when you don't fight me. Oh, well." This way had a certain charm about it, too, he had to admit. It wasn't as fun, but that didn't mean it wasn't fun. Without needing to exert much force at all, he tilted Marcus' head to the side.

"It could have been so good... remember, mortal, that you bring this on yourself." With that, he buried his teeth in the human's neck, and at the same time, in his mind. Forcing his way brutally in, he took the most horrific images he could find there and made them come to life. He was equally skilled with bringing pleasure and horror, and it very clearly showed.

Barely wincing as Armand took his head in his hands, Marcus glared defiantly at the vampire. "How would you know what it's like when I don't fight you?" Despite his desire to turn away, to escape inside, to call for help, Marcus found himself quite helpless. Unable even to resist as the monster tilted his head to the side, the Ranger gritted his teeth as those of the vile creature tore into the flesh of his neck.

"I'm not bringing anything, you foul beast. This wasn't exactly my idea."

Soon, words were impossible, as Marcus's mind was filled with painful memories, and his limbs were soaked with the torpor of despair and fatal resignation. His previous experiences had shown him what to expect, but they had not taught him any ways to resist the vampire's influence.

The vampire, being a creature of sudden mood changes, was alternately amused and furious. But, as time went on and the Ranger still refused to give in to him in the slightest, he found that the rage was becoming more pronounded. No one should be this good at resisting him. What was wrong with Marcus, anyway, that he picked pain over pleasure every time? Well, he could have fun this way, too.

It was the worst nightmare that he could conjure up. Marcus' brother died once more, brought to vivid, horrific life by the vampire's imagination. His entire family was slaughtered as Marcus looked on, paralyzed by the fangs in his neck. Finally, though, they all faded away, and one person remained. A woman, pregnant, with brilliantly coloured hair.

You see, when she came to the church, we could have done whatever we wanted to her... The picture was there suddenly, the girl watching as the vampire fed on his lover. It would have been so easy... He pulled away suddenly, swiping his tongue over the wounds so that they disappeared, as if they had never been. It had only been a few minutes, the vampire hadn't taken much at all, but it would have seemed like an eternity of agony to the Ranger.

"So, you see, you owe me for the life of your witch."

Marcus was paralyzed in the vampire's hold, his lip curling with the effort to resist the pain that could not be resisted. Growling he fought the need to cry out, his bones aching as he fought the urge to twist helplessly in the creature's iron grip. The visions the beast showed him were as vivid as life, and as painful, despite the Ranger's knowledge that they were no more than effective psychic attacks. Having been trained to resist telepaths, Marcus could not stop what Armand was doing, but he could recognize it. When the unending torture had finally ceased, and Marcus's wound has been sealed, the Ranger fell, exhausted, to his knees, still haunted by the echoes of the vampire's attack.

"I owe you nothing, monster. Nothing you have shown me is real."

Where had that church been, and who the girl? Marcus wondered why the fiend had bothered to devise so elaborate a fantasy to play on his fear of Tonks' safety.

The vampire's lips drew into a pout, and he looked, once more, like nothing more dangerous than a hurt child. "But it was your lovely witch who interupted my feeding on my lover in the church all those nights ago. And we spared her. Are you not overcome with our generous natures?" He was speaking the truth, too, and his words dripped with that sincerity.

"I could have killed her, but I did not. I didn't even harm a hair on her brightly-coloured little head. And how do you thank me? Ungrateful wretch."

With that, he dropped the Ranger negligently to the ground. He would be dizzy and a little weak, but the vampire hadn't taken much this time. Directly into Marcus' head, he projected If you keep resisting me, perhaps I will not be so merciful next time. Goodbye, Marcus Cole.

To the Ranger, he would then simply seem to disappear into the night.

Marcus seethed, struggling to sit up on the chilled stone stoop. If the vampire was telling the truth, he was hardly grateful. Why should he feel thanks for an act of common decency? It was difficult for him to feel sorry for Armand and his lover, but he could never consider murder anything but a disproportionate response to embarrassment. Nevertheless, it angered him further that the beast had threatened his pregnant lover, and he wanted even more to destroy him.

Raising himself weakly to his feet Marcus stumbled back inside, not noticing that as he climbed the stairs the house was turning to chocolate all around him. He was somewhat reassured by the sight if Tonks lying peacefully in their bed, but he did not find it easy to fall asleep.
