WARNINGS: It's Giselle and Legolas. PG. At absolute most.

In many ways, Legolas was a simple creature. Things were one way, and he was happy with that. Things that made his life more complicated were not particularly welcome. To say Pandora had done so would be a definite understatement. He'd spent a lot of time in both Rivendell and Lothlorien, reading, and he'd certainly come across vampires. Creatures of pure evil, those who serve Morgoth, foul, tainted beings. Leeches who fed on the blood of the living to prolong their unnatural lives, they were an abomination, and must be destroyed.

Pandora hadn't seemed like that, somehow. Which made it worse, really. At times, she'd seemed almost sad. That shouldn't have been. Still, he'd been tainted by her touch, and he'd been unable to fight her off. For a warrior like he was, this was incredibly disturbing. He liked to think he could take care of himself, but in this case, he hadn't been able to. She'd overwhelmed him completely, and he'd been helpless against it.

So, for the last day, without a break, he'd been practicing his archery. If he ever saw her again, he would be ready. She wouldn't even get close to him. Every time he started to think he could leave his practice, he got a new surge of energy and purpose from the promise he'd made to himself. That would never happen to him again. He sent arrow after arrow into the bulls eye of the target, his face wearing a grim expression that was rarely seen. Usually, no matter the situation, he was smiling, but not now.

He didn't get tired, not in the same way a human would. But he hadn't allowed himself to fall into the dream like reverie that elves had instead of sleep, not since Pandora had bitten him. His arms were shaking, the muscles weary, but he gritted his teeth and forced them to be steady. The next arrow, though, for the first time in a long time, not only didn't hit the bulls eye, it didn't even hit the target at all. The string of curses he let out were both elven, and incredibly colorful.

Giselle's heart was beating rapidly. She looked at the man in front of her and felt it come uncomfortably to a halt in her chest. It started up again after a second, but she felt as if she might faint in the meantime. When had this happened? How had it happened? She had been in love with Robert not more than a month or two ago. She was searching her memories for the time that she might transfered her love from Robert to Legolas and couldn't bring anything up. But she hadn't thought of Robert in quite some time. Her thoughts had been made up of Legolas for so long now.

She glanced down again at their joined hands and had to force herself to breathe normally. She was startled, but not unhappy about the realization. She was downright happy about it, but she was going to withold her thoughts and feelings until she was sure he felt the same way about her. She glanced back up at him, her large blue eyes fairly glittering with excitement.

He saved her by continuing their conversation on bravery and she laughed softly, giggling and ducking her head. "Thank you, Legolas. I would rather have you at my side than a legion of warriors, as well." She looked back up and grinned at him, popping another berry into her mouth. She picked up another and held it out to him. "Aren't they delicious? I picked them myself this morning." This city was considerably better than the other one they'd lived in before they got through the Labyrinth. It had all sorts of things the other didn't. Raspberry bushes included.
