WHO: Carlisle and Delirium
WHEN: Day seven, early afternoon
WHAT: Even happy vampires brood
WHERE: Somewhere between the fair and the clinic
RATING: PG
STATUS: Complete

For as happy as he was for Edward and Juniper, there was a part of him that was jealous. A small part, and a part that he wished he could cut out with a scalpel as efficiently as he did tumors back home. But he couldn't and so he was left with dealing with his missing of his wife by himself. Jasper wasn't even there to make the feeling go away. Carlisle had never realised how much he relied on his son until that moment. All of his children, really. Even their very personalities, talents aside, were a help to him, and he hadn't understood it completely until his rambunctious family was taken away from him.

He walked slowly back to the clinic, his hands shoved in his pockets and a rather broody look on his face, for once oblivious to the way the sun made him sparkle. He didn't need to hide here, and he was far too wrapped up in his thoughts to really care at any rate. He missed his wife, he missed his children, and really, he just wanted to go home.

Carlisle smiled. "I would very much like to be your friend," he nodded. If for no other reason than that she was fascinating, but even beyond that, she made him smile. And in his present situation, he needed things that made him smile.

He'd gotten a glimpse of her room number when her key had arrived, eyes sharper than any human's being able to pick out the lettering despite awkward angles or extreme distances. So once she was ready to go, he glanced for Dorm A before leading her in that direction. "What is the place you come from like?" he asked, interested.

That Delighted her, which she also used to be. And sometimes still was, hidden deep within the word salads and non sequitors. The small Idea-person walked with the Starry Man, humming tunelessly. Head moved this way and that, looking around at her surroundings. This place changed too. She could feel it.

"Mm." She paused, mismatched eyes darting quickly to the games that were going on. "Like here. Like me. Where the unexpected's always expected. Fish and rainbows and question marks. Mark always gets questioned. Does he like that? I like asking, but the clouds don't always answer yanno?" What had been the original question? "Imbroglio. Like Barnabas says." That was her Realm. "Here and there. Always close in all ways. Wherever I lay my head is where I'm from."

A great deal of what she said didn't make any sense to Carlisle, but he smiled and nodded appreciatively anyway. Really, that was all he could do, as questions seemed to rarely get him anywhere but further confused with this girl.

"The life of a nomad," he muttered, shaking his head. Not unlike his own life, though Carlisle and his family had perfected their ruse to the best of their abilities, which allowed them to stay in one place for longer periods of time.

And speaking of homes and the laying of heads, they'd arrived at Del's room, and Carlisle patted the door. "Just use your key to get in, and you'll have a place to sleep and clothing to wear. There are food stands, like you saw, for when you're hungry, and otherwise...Just make the best of things," he said with a little shrug.

There were answers somewhere. Sense in the nonsense, if someone was willing to sift through it all. And Carlisle was actually do very well, considering that he just met Delirium. Her own Siblings sometimes got lost with her rambling.

"Nomadic. No mad. And I'm not." Mad that was. She certainly didn't seem to mind that she appeared in a place she hadn't thought to appear at before. "I like making the best. Who doesn't? Nobody says make the worst." Del paused though, green and blue eyes steady for once on the twinkling doctor. "The best stuff is made with dew." Solemnly said. With that the redhead nodded firmly and stuck her key in to have a look inside. Free hand, the one not holding her new journal, pushed it slowly. Then she looked at Carlisle again.

"Where does your head lie?"

Her name was Delirium. Clearly she was mad. But Carlisle didn't argue, just smiled at her assessment of making the best of things, and nodded slightly, watching her open up her door, making sure that her key worked and all before he prepared to take his leave.

"I have a room like yours, though you're more likely to find me in the clinic in the main building," he told her. "I'm a doctor."

A doctor that needed to get back, or he'd never be able to use the clinic, as it wouldn't be set up. "And I really should return there. It was lovely to meet you, Del, and I hope to see you soon," he told her with a smile.

Well, yes. Mad as Hatters. Mad as Cheshire Cats. Or they were as mad as her. Either way, Del knew she was..off. But she wasn't mad, as in angry-mad. One of the perks of being who, and what, she was was that weird stuff like this didn't quite phase her.

Whether that was because she truly understood or not was anyone's guess. But honestly, the redheaded Idea understood more than she let on sometimes.

Either way, she was listening. The Star Man was a doctor! Barnabas took note of this, because Delirium would forget. The dog had also been taking note of the paths to get to the dormitories. Del nodded and smiled. "Thank you for meeting me." Straight forward, mostly. Sometimes manners came out that way.

"You're quite welcome," Carlisle smiled, nodding at her. He wondered if she'd be alright, not being looked after, but a glance at the dog had him wondering if that wasn't his job. She'd be alright, he was sure. There wasn't anyone that could possibly harm such a sweet, innocent little thing.

Giving her one more smile, Carlisle left her, heading back to the clinic in an attempt to get some work done. All in all, a very odd day, and it wasn't close to over yet.
