WHO: The Doctor and Rose
WHAT: Exploring the amusement park
WHEN: Day Seven, early evening
WHERE: The amusement park...duh!
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Incomplete

Okay, so an amusement park wasn't exactly the best place to take the girl you fancied, particularly when she didn't know that you fancied her, but it was all the Doctor had to work with. And besides, it was sort of them. At least, it held the possibility of something going wrong, at any rate. Right?

The Doctor bounced around outside the TARDIS, the same as he had countless times before, waiting around for Rose to finish getting dressed. He was in his standard, a pinstripe suit and trainers, but he'd left the tie behind, unbuttoning the first button or two of his button down, going for a more casual look. That, and if he was going to get soaked, he'd might as well.

"Come on, Rose!" he hollered, banging on the door of the TARDIS, rolling his eyes. "There's no alien invasion, no race to be saved, no screaming...At least let me have the amusement park!"

It wasn't the way she'd always pictured it. In her daydreams, they were usually standing for this moment, and he was the one who'd kissed her first, folded her in his arms and promised to never let go. But this? Would definitely do in a pinch. Rose knew that she could spend her last remaining moments kissing this man in this way and have no regrets whatsoever.

It was a moment or two or several, she'd lost count, before she broke her lips from his, needing to breathe and get her mind together and all those things that happened after kissing a man you'd loved for years for the first time. And when she looked down into those brown eyes, her cheeks flushed and she smiled bashfully. But she didn't pull away.

Her fingers absently worked the lapels of the Doctor's pinstripe suit, her expression slightly shy. "Not...entirely sure I meant to do that," she said, but a small giggle escaped just the same. "Least, not like that. But um..." Grinning, she placed a much softer kiss on his lips. "Not exactly complaining, you see."

No. No, she'd never complain about finally getting the nerve together to kiss this man, this alien who'd won her heart from the word 'run'.

When the kiss broke, the Doctor's bottom lip pushed out in a little pout before he grinned up at her. That was not like Cassandra's kiss, the only thing he had to go off of as far as wondering what it would be like to kiss Rose. It was a thousand, trillion times better, and if she never left the circle of his arms again, it would be too soon.

One hand's worth of fingers combed through her hair, ran along the line of her jaw, investigated the curves of her face, as if he were memorizing her, and all the while through her rambling, that same cheeky grin that had always driven her a little bonkers was on his face. The Doctor wasn't entirely sure that he'd ever stop smiling, as a matter of fact.

"I'm glad all the same," he assured her, leaning up to press a kiss to the tip of her nose, shifting to get his legs out from under him and into a way less awkward position than what they'd been pushed into. But still, he kept Rose on top of him, holding her close with one arm wrapped tightly around her waist, his hand coming to rest on her cheek as he stared into the eyes he loved so much.

"Tell me again, Rose?" he almost begged. He needed to hear it without the tears, without the pressure.

For someone so lanky, the Doctor sure was comfortable. Rose found herself easily settling into him, as if she'd never left. Her arms folded on his chest and she rested her head on top of them. She was safe in his arms, knowing no one would tear them apart now. All of the goblins in this crazy city could show up and she'd tell them right where they could go before she'd let them separate her from this man.

At his request, her eyes closed, briefly reliving that moment where she'd blurted it last. The pain she'd felt was still very real, and had haunted her time and again. But now, as she lay against him, breathing in that scent that was only his and listening to the comforting sound of two hearts beating, Rose smiled.

"I love you," she murmured, then looked up at him, shifting a bit so she could look into his eyes. "I love you. Always have." And yet she'd never said it. Not until it was too late. Well, never mind that. They had here and now and she wasn't going to waste it. Not ever again. The Doctor loved her, had actually said so, and was now touching her so sweetly she thought she'd cry. She wouldn't lose that. "Too bad Mum's not here to see this," she teased a moment later. "She might even try and slap you again for it."

Hearing her say those words was like nothing that the Doctor had ever experienced, not in all the universe, not in over nine hundred years. It was like a part of him that he thought long gone and broken, had been put back together and replaced. His arm around her waist tightened and he closed his eyes, drawing her face down to his for another kiss, his hand going into that hair that had haunted him for so long.

"Bahhh," the Doctor complained, making a face up at her and shaking his head. "I've been hit by more mothers..." he grumbled, shaking his head. It was always the mothers, no matter what he did, or what his relationship was with their daughters...Always the mothers. Then again, with Jackie, he couldn't decide which was worse. When she hit him, or when she kissed him.

They lay there for a few more minutes, and then the Doctor grinned, shifting and dumping Rose off of him, looking down at her now as she was pitched onto her back. "Come on, Rose. Let's go ride some coasters," he suggested. He needed to move, needed to yell recklessly, needed to run. Pulling her to her feet, he threw his coat back on and shoved their trash into one of the pockets before grabbing her hand, kissing her quickly, and then running full-tilt back toward the park.

Rose shook her head with a helpless giggle as she was dropped unceremoniously onto her back. Well, she supposed that's what happened when the man you loved was prone to sudden bursts of energy. Far more energy than the normal human, that was for certain.

"Poor treatment for the woman you're supposed to love," she scolded, though there wasn't even a good amount of venom in her tone to make it at all threatening. She was too grateful to be pulled around by him again to argue.

That and the fact that said running around now included snogging.

Her hand gripped snugly in his, she followed after him, hair flying behind her and what felt like a permanent smile on her face, being dragged off to the highest roller coaster in the entire park. "I'm not to blame if you lose all those chips you just ate," she warned, though she was laughing. Everything felt so real and so right and just so bloody perfect that she thought she'd wake up and have dreamt it all.

The Doctor scoffed away her worries and skid to a stop in line, Rose's hand still in his own. For just a minute, he could pretend that he was human, and that this could actually work out happily. He could pretend that he had one life to live, and he could spend it with Rose. He could pretend that their happiness wasn't a soap bubble; ready to break open into nothing at any second.

Pulling Rose in front of him, the Doctor pressed his chest to her back and wrapped his arms around her waist, burying his face in her sweet smelling hair and breathing her in. He couldn't let himself think about all that would happen, all that time would do to them. He couldn't let himself mood swing her into anger and resentment. He wanted to be happy, damn it, and after nine hundred years and countless planets, galaxies and races saved, it was his turn.

It was their turn before he knew it, and the Doctor walked behind Rose, not letting go of her until he actually had to, and then climbed in the coaster after her, pulling down the safety harnesses and making sure that she wasn't going to fall out. Because that would be so Rose, and he was far too happy to have a near death anything. He didn't even want a near bruise experience today.

It felt like such a normal thing to do. Go around an adventure park with her favourite bloke on her arm, sneaking kisses in between thrill rides and eating foods she'd be fighting calories from all day. In truth, it didn't even feel like her own life. Rose Tyler didn't get things that worked out this perfectly. In Rose's world, the perfect man was snatched away, she was separated from friends or from family, and she faced more dangers than should have been humanly possible.

The flicker of fear that ran through her had her leaning back against the Doctor in line and grasping his hand in hers as he made sure they were safe. "I'm not likely to fall out you know," she teased, her heart in her throat as she took in his profile. "You're skinnier than I am, you'll slide right out."

But her hold on his arm was proof she had no intentions of letting anything happen to him. It had taken her too damn long to get him back. Impulsively, she leaned in, kissing his cheek gently as the coaster began grinding to a start.

"But so you know? If you start screaming, I'm going to be forced to laugh." Rose turned and faced the front then as the ride began it's first ascent, her expression entirely innocent.

The Doctor chuckled and wrapped his arms around her as well, liking the feeling of Rose sitting in front of him in his lap, safe and sound. "Yeah, but I'll bounce right back. You won't. So you're staying safe," he insisted, brushing her hair aside with one hand to press a soft, tender kiss to her neck.

Of course, that being said, the first thing he did when they went down the first hill was let go of her - with one hand - to throw his arm up in the air recklessly. He didn't scream, just laughed as they whipped around turns and went down embankments, holding on to Rose securely with one arm and reveling in the satisfaction of things finally being the way they were supposed to be. For the first time in hundreds of years, he was completely content.

The ride started to wind down, and the Doctor chuckled suddenly and leaned forward a bit to rest his chin on Rose's shoulder. "I wonder what Jack will say..." he smirked.
