Juniper was pissed. In almost every sense of the word. She was angry, no livid at Edward, both for feeling that he had the right to be angry with her for an errant thought, and for the fact that she now sported ten finger-shaped bruises on each arm. She was angry with herself for even having the thought to begin with, because really, it was ridiculous at best, suicidal at worst. And she was drunk. Drunkity-drunk-drunk. The one good thing about the Ren Faire, Juniper had discovered, once she realised that she was locked out of her room, not having remembered to grab her key as she'd stormed out, was that they had some truly wonderful wine. And she'd sampled more than her fair share of it.

And so now, drunk and wet in the dark, and locked out of her room, Juniper was wandering. She wasn't really looking for Edward, but when she heard his mind nearby, her anger redoubled. He was such a twat. She didn't want to see him, but at the same time, she wasn't really done yelling at him yet. Maybe she'd get eaten by a bear or something on her way over there.

No such luck. Standing at the base of the tree Edward was hiding in, Juniper glared up at the dark, unable to see her boyfriend, but knowing he was there anyway. "You're an asshole!" she hollered at him, and then took another swig off the bottle she carried. "If you don't want me, just fucking say it, because I'm not stupid enough to think that this is just about a bloody thought!"

Edward laughed at her reaction and didn't even flinch when she hit him with the shoe. "Really, and a space ship. I got to go inside earlier." He grinned at her and reached out with one hand to wrap his arm around her shoulders and pull her against him. "I'll see if he can't give you the tour later but you'll have to promise not to touch anything or else he might not let us go back. I'm trying to convince the Doctor to come with us when we go through the Labyrinth. He has some friends that might be helpful."

He pushed the petal down as far as it would go, sending them rocketing forward at over 100 mph. The unpaved ground wasn't even remotely smooth and it felt rather like an amusement park ride, but Edward managed to avoid any obstacles and keep from flipping the car. He turned the wheel with one hand causing them to spin around and turn back the other way. It was like being in a car with a very psychotic stunt driver.

Juniper grumbled. "You have all the luck. So what is he doing here if he's got a space and time machine? I mean, I'd be outta here in a heartbeat, wouldn't you?" Then she realised how that sounded. "I'd pop home, kiss Marsha, and then head ten years in the future to find your sorry pain in the--"

She was cut off, however, when Edward started driving, and she had to start screaming. "OhmyGodIdon'twanttodie!" she squeaked, turning her face into Edward's chest and covering it with her hands. She was torn between telling him to put both hands on the wheel, and being glad that he was holding her. "Edwarrrrrddd," she rattled out, getting bumped around by the uneven ground. "Slow down!"

"It stopped working once he arrived here. Once he got here he was stuck, but still. It's the principle of the thing. Time machine." Edward grinned.

He laughed when she started screaming. "Oh relax, Juniper. I have excellent reflexes. We aren't even moving as fast as we were when I was running with you yesterday." He took his eyes away from where he was driving just long enough to kiss her forehead and spin them again. "Do you honestly thing I would do anything to intentionally endanger you?" He was the one who was the most psychotically obsessed with her safety after all. She was the reckless one.

He saw the labyrinth in the distance and turned the car in that direction. Once he was closer he drove along side the wall and then turned trying to see if he could go around it, but there were trees and other obstacles in the way. "Damn. I guess that option's out. It was worth looking into at least."

Juniper wrapped her arms around Edward's waist and shuddered a little bit. "I'm not...good...in cars..." she admitted, her words broken up by gasps every time the car hit a particularly rough patch. Beyond fearing for her life, she was just plain scared.

She could remember the car accident with Kingsley. Him driving so fast, her screaming at him to slow down. Going into the river...the car filling up with water...Kingsley smacking her because she was screaming...The mucky, dirty water creeping up around her chest...

"Please stop!"

The moment Edward picked up the tenor of her thoughts he slowed to a stop. Once the car had stopped moving he unbuckled her seatbelt and pulled her into his lap, cuddling her close. "I'm sorry, I didn't know." He tucked his face against her neck, feeling horribly guilty. If he had known he wouldn't have ever forced her to get in the car.

Of course that's how he saw things now. He had made her get into his stupid vehicle against her will. He had terrified her to the point of tears. He hated himself.

He cuddled her and pet her and then started moving the car again, only this time he took it at a crawl so slow it would annoy most overly cautious drivers. He'd park back at the TARDIS and take her back inside. It had been a long day and he should have known better than to do something so reckless with Juniper in the car.

Juniper more than willingly climbed into his lap and sat there with her face buried in his neck for a few minutes. "I'm fine...It's fine..." she mumbled, and then picked her head up to look at him.

"Stop it. You didn't know. And normally, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. A warning would have been nice, sure, but...I'm just teetering on the edge today," she admitted. It had been a really long one, after all. "I think I just need to sleep, start over tomorrow. I promise I won't be a crazy person," she teased a little, wiping off her face.

When he started driving with her in his lap, Juniper rolled her eyes and hung on to him a little more tightly. "I'm not mad at you, Edward. Stop feeling so guilty."

Edward relaxed a little and smiled at her chastising. "I'm still very sorry. Had I known . . ." he sighed and kissed her again. "We'll get you to bed and tomorrow will be a much better day, I promise." He pressed his cheek to the top of her head and pet her with the one hand he didn't have on the wheel.

Once they reached the TARDIS he put the car in park and then carefully extracted Juniper from his arms long enough for him to get out and then he scooped her up and insisted once more on carrying her. He locked the door and then headed back to the dorms with Juniper in his arms.

"I'm glad you're not mad at me, but I should still be much more careful with you than I have been. I apologize for being so reckless."

Juniper laughed when he picked her up and wouldn't let her walk anymore. "You're impossible," she teased, rolling her eyes at him and laying her head on his shoulder as he brought her back toward the dorms.

"I'm not made of glass, Edward. I'm not hurt or anything. I just got a little spooked, is all." She picked her head up and looked at him imploringly. "Please stop feeling so bad. I should have warned you. It's my own fault I got scared."

"It's not your fault. It was a perfectly reasonable response. I promise to try and stop blaming myself though if it will make you happy." He pressed his lips to hers to silence any further protests and then let them into her room.

He set her on the bed and then kicked off his shoes and took his place on the other end of the bed. "I'll wait here while you change," he told her giving her a few moments to get herself ready for bed.

Juniper giggled into the kiss and when it broke, she grinned at him. "Yes, actually, it will make me happy," she admitted cheekily.

Getting her pajamas out, Juniper went into the bathroom to change and wash her face and brush her teeth, getting ready for bed. A couple minutes later, she was back in the main room, and crawling onto the bed, pulling back the covers and settling against the pillow. "Get in here, mister," she demanded with a little smile, opening her arms to her boyfriend.

Edward smiled and moved into her embrace. He pulled her over so that she was halfway sprawled across his chest and tucked the blankets around her to make sure she wouldn't get cold in his chilly embraced. "I love you. Now sleep," he ordered. "Before anything else traumatic can happen to us today. I think I could use a break myself, even if I can't sleep it off." He smiled that crooked grin at her and then pressed a kiss to her forehead.

	Settling against his chest, Juniper smiled a little at his own demands and picked her head up to kiss him. "I promise, no crazy Juniper tomorrow," she assured him, her heart skipping a beat at that smile of his. Then she lay her head down on his chest, snuggling in, and before long, she was fast asleep.
