WHO: Carlisle and Tara
WHEN: Day 5, midmorning
WHAT: Carlisle's arrival
WHERE: The library
RATING: PG
STATUS: Complete

Carlisle sat behind his desk, his hand flying across the chart he was filling out and his eyes unfocused, seeing off to spaces unknown. Edward had been unheard from for a handful of days now, and even with Alice's vision, Carlisle worried. He'd heard from the grapevine that the Swan girl that had given Edward so much trouble was missing as well, and while he wanted to think the best of Edward, and generally did, he worried that the boy's nature might have gotten the best of him, and he'd hidden from the guilt. Needlessly, certainly, but that was the kind of thing that Edward might do. And so he worried, and Esme fretted. Emmett seemed unperturbed, though his wrestling partner was gone, Rosalie was Rosalie, Jasper was quiet as usual, and Alice was perfectly serene in knowing that Edward had found a place to be happy, and a girl stronger than any of them to keep him entertained. But still, Carlisle worried.

"Doctor Cullen to the Emergency Room, please. Doctor Cullen, Emergency Room..."

The voice over the intercom knocked Carlisle out of his revere, and he set down his pen and rose from his chair, straightening his tie compulsively as he walked to the door. But as he stepped over the threshold, the familiar walls of his hospital were gone. Replaced with the walls of a...library?

Carlisle looked around, aghast, and blinked a few times, sure that he'd come to his senses at any second. He was only worried, after all. But still, the vision didn't clear, and Carlisle began to realise what was going on. His cell phone came out of the pocket of his lab coat, but there was no signal. Then what could only be classified as a goblin popped up at his side, and shoved a journal and a key into his hand before disappearing again. What in God's name...?

There was someone in the stacks nearby, and so Carlisle approached slowly, pushing back his anxiety and giving the same calming, trustworthy smile that he bestowed on everyone he met. "Excuse me...Could you possibly tell me where I am?" he asked kindly, his golden eyes searching the person's face.

Brows furrowed curiously as she watched the man and with his response she nodded slowly. “M-maybe you could, um, write your-your son, telling him where you two could, um, m-meet?” It was the only piece of advice she could think to offer him at this time, maybe it would help somehow? She had tried to imply the idea before but realizing the shock that may be setting into the man, stating the idea in a clearer manner seemed like it may be a good idea. “You could probably find him q-quicker that way.” A small shrug was given in response to the man, she wasn’t really sure how she could help him otherwise. Though the knowledge of such a young looking man having a son did seem rather odd, even if it wasn’t impossible. Maybe the man just looked young? Lots of people had baby faces, though the mix in his aura still confused her in a manner she couldn’t make sense of.

Giving the man a half smile in return she nodded slightly. “N-no bother at, um, at all, I could take you there if you like.” Placing the book back on the shelf again she straightened her shirt and dusted the blue jeans she had been wearing off. Glancing up from the attention to her clothing a sudden shift in motions seems to almost let on something deeper going on but at the same time it looked as if nothing had happened at all. Tara blinked a moment trying to figure out if her eyes were playing tricks on her imagination. Nothing was there, that must have been it. Maybe she had been spending too much time in this dusty library, a good walk would do her good at this point.

She hadn't seen anything, which was a lucky break, and Carlisle scrambled to recover. "Actually, I think I'll stay here for a bit, check out this journal and the like," he said with a decided nod, moving back into the dim light of the library. He certainly couldn't go outside on a day like today without attracting a great deal of attention.

"Thank you so much for your help," he said, giving her a smile, and then found himself a place to sit. Apparently, this world was just as strange as his old one.
