RP Etiquette
Hi Gang!

We would like to know your opinion on RP Etiquette and what you think the rules should be. We would like to know what really bothers you, and any suggestions you might have for keeping these things out of the game. We know that everyone, or most everyone, wants to play in a drama-free game and we want to do our part to make that happen.

With your feedback and ideas of our own, we will be adding a section to the mod journal regarding this etiquette and the expectations we have of the players in the game.

We would like you to keep your feedback to generalities and avoid pointing fingers or bashing other players. However, with that said, we would also like feedback on what we, as mods, could do better or keep an eye on.

We want you to feel as free as possible to give your feedback and encourage you to post your suggestion comments annonymously.

Thanks for all you do, you're a wonderful group!

I'd personally like to know if there's a certain time line for which replies have to be done in. I've always been told within 1-3 days for most comm's, but I know I personally feel guilty if I take more then a day or two tops.

Another thing I haven't seen in this comm (yay!), but I'd like to mention it just as a general curiosity to everyone keep in mind your character doesn't know everything you know and that you shouldn't go on your own first reaction but think how your character feels about being reacted to in that manner. *shrug* I know I personally listen to a music play list that I specifically made for Tara because I felt it reflected what Tara would like and therefore it helps me get into the Tara mind-set more while writing.

Also, this is something I personally keep in mind for my self, because it makes me enjoy the game more. I pay careful attention to what is and isn't said in each entry. Why? Because if CharacterX has written 2 journal entries and my character has only been here long enough to see one of them, then she should only know the information provided from the one journal entry she's been here to see. If a character doesn't say their name? My character doesn't know it. Character doesn't say their gender? My character doesn't know it. Personally it makes things more fun and a greater mystery for me while being in my Tara RP mindset. ^_^

Aka, be careful, be respectful. That's pretty much what I have to say. ^_^

As far as a time limit for replies, there isn't one. We can only hope that players will keep up with each other and reply sooner rather than later. If someone isn't on hiatus or something, the typical turn around should be one or two days. Obviously things come up that prevent people from replying when they'd like to, and other people are just very consistent. There is a rule that says posts should be made by each character at least once every two weeks. We can only hope that it's more often than that because a thread with two weeks between replies could take a year to finish and that's not cool.

Those are all really good suggestions and ways of keeping the game consistent. Just one thing about the journals, though. When someone new gets a journal, they can read all the entries everyone else has written from day one, just because it's magical like that. :D

I thought there was something like that going on for replies but I wasn't sure.

Ok, I kind of figured that about the journals, but I wasn't 100% sure. Though I kinda have to wonder how many characters are pro's at recognizing and comparing hand writing between journal entries (since it's my understanding that characters are mostly hand writing these, yes? no? I've been a tad confused on that part). I mean if Legolas for example was to make an entry on day one and then not touch it again until day 8, would people be able to realize the two separate entries were his by his hand writing if he mentioned no distinguishing features that other characters would have been familiar with. I mean, that might just be me being nit-picky or something, I dunno. But that's personally the way I play it. Tara's clueless who she's responding too most of the time unless she sees information she recognizes in the journal entry or in a response. xD Unfortunately this leaves me with a clueless Tara most of the time. >.< *laughs* Oh well. xD
