Final Fantasy VII (Seph/Zack/Cloud)
Title: Sing To Me Your Song of the Stars
Artist: raisedbymoogles
Rating: PG, nothing more than a kiss
Warnings: Worksafe, but kinda disturbing anyway.
Prompt: Final Fantasy VII, Zack/Cloud/Sephiroth: Evil, good guys bad - It's like a twisted game of follow the leader.
"Quiet tonight."
"Mmm."
"Cloud's late, isn't he?"
"Mhm."
Green eyes slitted, shining against pale skin, and Sephiroth tilted his head back against Zack's shoulder. Zack smiled and tightened his arm around his leader's shoulder. Beyond their camp, the grasses swayed in the warm late-summer breeze, their scent sweet and sharp, and the stars lay innumerable overhead.
Sephiroth had made them many promises when he'd pulled them out of those Mako tubes, but not a one of them were why Cloud and Zack followed him. In Cloud's case (Zack suspected) the Planet and Jenova could both go hang as long as he could keep following Sephiroth; in Zack's, it was enough to see their leader this content and relaxed, the weight of Shinra's oppression lifted off his shoulders at last. And if the former General was relaxing half in Zack's lap, so much the better.
A soft step made Zack turn, though Sephiroth didn't even twitch. "Yo, Spike," he greeted. "Starting to wonder if you'd gotten lost."
Cloud favored him with slightly-unsteady arch look, but nothing more. Five years of torture had not been kind to him, and not even Sephiroth's power could heal him completely; for the rest of his life he would bear that slightly unfocused look behind the glare of his Mako eyes, and depend on Sephiroth's direction. "The Cetra is stalled at Cosmo Canyon," he reported without preamble. "Their buggy broke down right outside the gate."
"Convenient," Zack opined.
Sephiroth made a disgruntled noise. "Another delay. Mother will not be pleased."
Cloud faltered, and Zack offered him an apologetic smile before turning to nuzzle into Sephiroth's hair. "Our plan can't go forward without her. And she won't do anything but follow us as soon as she can. Jenova knows that." He tilted his head to catch Sephiroth's gaze with his own. "Still, if you want, I can steal back there and do a little repair work..."
"No," Sephiroth said firmly, and Zack wilted. Loyal as blood he was, but Zack had already proven he could not be trusted around the Cetra. "Mother is patient," Sephiroth added in a kinder tone. "In the end, this delay will not matter. We wait."
Zack nodded, and at Sephiroth's summoning gesture Cloud trotted fearlessly over to them to lay down with his head in Sephiroth's lap. Sephiroth rested his hand in the blond's hair with a pensive sigh; Cloud didn't seem to notice, but it wasn't in Zack's nature not to pursue such cues. "Something wrong?" he asked.
"I think," the Planet's new god said slowly, "we may be headed to the Nibel area next."
Silence greeted his comment, but only for a moment. "Then we'll go," Cloud murmured.
"We can avoid the town," Sephiroth offered. "I do not wish to expose you again to that place unless I have to."
"I'd follow you right into the basement," Cloud whispered, and closed his eyes.
Zack chuckled and nudged Sephiroth's ear. "He's right, you know. Pain, bad memories, all that I can handle - I couldn't stand being away from you and Spike."
Sephiroth turned toward him then, a small smile teasing at the edge of his mouth. "Then stay, my own," he whispered. "Until the Crater, and the moment I make you both a part of me."
"I'll be waiting for that day." Zack kissed him, coaxing the smile into full bloom.
