From the Jaws of Defeat, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Jason/Tommy)
Title: From the Jaws of Defeat
Author: [info]raisedbymoogles
Rating: G
Warnings: Bromance
Prompt: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Tommy/Jason - mpreg - "I hate those damn aliens!"
Word count: 504
Summary: Jason cheers Tommy up after a hard day of being a pregnant guy.

"I think Miss Applebee's getting suspicious," Jason reported, slinging his backpack onto the floor. "She asked me again if you were okay."

Without lifting his head from the cradle of his arms, Tommy asked, "What'd you tell her?"

"That you were okay as you could be under the circumstances," Jason shrugged. "What with the highly contagious disease and all, or whatever Billy told her." Dragging a chair over to the table, he sat down and placed a broad palm on his friend's back. "How are you really doing?" he asked quietly.

Tommy looked up at that, summoning his reserves of energy to favor Jason with a flat glare. "Pregnant, man."

"Right. Sorry," Jason allowed, and the glare softened into something that was almost apologetic. Jason smiled back, and tried not to let his eyes fall downward to Tommy's baby bump. It was difficult - the swell wasn't that big, as far as these things went, but Tommy's trim body tended to show it off to maximum effect and the weight of bearing it seemed to subsume the young fighter's energy. "Rita's monsters suck," Jason offered as a lame panacea.

Tommy snorted. "That one sucked more than usual. We blew the monster up real good, but I think Rita won that round. She's going to have her heir soon."

"Don't say that." Jason leaned in, arm over his back, shoulder-to-shoulder. "You know I don't care that it's Rita's genes. It's your kid, and that means it's our kid." Tommy smiled, a little, and Jason took that as encouragement. "Besides, just 'cause you're out of action for a little while doesn't mean you're beaten. What does she think, you're gonna quit the Rangers and be a stay-at-home mom?"

"No way." Tommy straightened, eyes flashing a promise that usually meant a whole lot of pain for some unlucky evil alien. "Maybe I can't fight, right now, but my Zord still can. Count on it." Jason smiled at that, proud and fond, and Tommy smiled back a moment before his expression turned stricken. Muttering a curse, he ducked his head almost against Jason's chest.

Alarmed, Jason held his friend up against him. "Tommy? What's wrong?"

"Nothing," came the answer, wet and slightly muffled. "Just - cry at the drop of a hat right now. You know. S'nothing."

"Not nothing," Jason insisted quietly, and because he thought maybe Tommy would be okay with it, reached up and stroked his fingers through his best friend's hair. Tommy made another muffled noise and relaxed, letting Jason hold and gentle him while his tears surged and ebbed.

"You're gonna be okay," Jason promised, fingers curling at the nape of Tommy's neck.

Tommy nodded and scrubbed at his eyes before he let himself straighten. Tossing off a confident grin, the Green Ranger said, "We'll have to pick a color for the little Rangerlet, you know."

Jason had to laugh. "Tommy, you are a sick and twisted guy."

"Well? Can you think of a better revenge?"

The Red Ranger had to admit he couldn't.

Oh... Oh, priceless. And Kim plans to spoil the kid ROTTEN, I'm sure... Uncle Billy will give it a chemistry set, and Jason will have to explain that s/he's too young for explosive materials... Zack will get roped into babysitting and the house will be a disaster...

Yeah, you can tell I've been in this fandom waaaay too long. I think those two are just lucky that this is happening in Season One, though. I don't want to imagine how much trouble would occur if said sproglet were exposed to Rocky. :)

Rocky: Well if you didn't want the kid to have Pixie Stix for dinner, you should have SAID something before you left!

Yeah, pretty much. Although supplemental canon *interviews and such* say that Rocky helped raise six younger siblings, so... He might be a better babysitter than we think.

We don't know how the siblings turned out.

*groans and drops head in hands* And Trini will wind up being the disciplinarian, because God knows Tommy will be wrapped around the kid's finger. Oh, help. XD

*snicker* Yeah, probably. And let's not even IMAGINE the meltdowns Alpha's going to have...

Teddy: *looking over Ellen's shoulder* Oooh, I have a nephew!
Tommy: Genetically speaking, this is the most screwed-up family ever...

You know Alpha's probably going to have to look after the sprog when the Rangers are out fighting the bad guys. Now that'll be interesting... if the sprog doesn't start screaming at the first glimpse of Grandpa Zordon's disembodied floating head. XD
