Prompt: July 12 - Suikoden V - Georg/Sialeeds - camaraderie - fool me once, shame on you
When Georg found out that Sialeeds was afraid of lizards, he had the perfect way to torment and distract her for the rest of the Sacred Games. They'd be walking down a street, and Georg would barely whisper, “There's a lizard.” By the end of the tour on the first day she was a nervous wreck, drinking a lot of wine at the state dinner and needing to be escorted back to her room lest she make a scene.
The next day she jumped the first couple of times, but once she got over her hangover she merely glared at him when he said it. Until the time when they actually did pass a small garden lizard sunning itself on a rock. The prince and Lyon were hard pressed to stay solemn after her shriek echoed throughout Stormfist.
The rest of the week, filled with Godwin machinations and too many close calls, passed with few opportunities for any kind of camaraderie, save the martial kind. The trip back to Falena's capital was too somber with the knowledge that hung over all their heads for any thought of teasing. It wasn't until the night before Lymsleia's betrothal party that Georg found an opportunity to steal some time with her.
The maid on duty that night was privy to their relationship and nodded and left after his soft knock. Sialeeds was looking out the window, a goblet in one hand, and gave him an unreadable glance when he stood beside her. For a moment neither spoke, then she sighed. “This could all go so badly in so many ways.”
Georg nodded once. “Ferid's idea should work, but there's always the chance some random element could introduce itself.” He did not name the element, but both knew who he was referring to.
“My poor niece,” she murmured, draining the last of the wine. “Even if we do expose everything, what will really change?”
He gave her a questioning look, not understanding what she was referring to. But she stayed silent, eyes straight ahead. The moment stretched out until it was almost too brittle. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, “I see a lizard.”
She turned gave him a look that was pure Sialeeds, the kind she only gave when they were alone. “The only lizard I'm interested in seeing is...” Her hand moved and cupped him through his robes, “... right here.”
