So. About them errands, huh?
((Man. How about all that self-play. It's what I get for playing 90% of the characters, I guess. :p And also currently the only character who can fling himself around the kingdom in seconds, so the job of errand boy has fallen to him. Purah's really got to come up with something for Zelda.))

After contacting Zelda and ending up with a laundry list of things he needed to get, as well as a brief panic when she asked about the sign outside his house, of all things, Link shifted his focus to his new agenda: getting a bunch of girly stuff.

His life went awry somewhere along the line, and he wasn't quite sure where. As much as he missed his sister, part of him was glad his early teen years weren't plagued by a teenage girl potentially trying to cajole him into being her practice dummy for learning how to apply makeup and do fancy hair styles. There was a good chance Marin would've ended up more like their grandmother than their mother on that front, but even so, that was an arrow he'd dodged.

It wasn't even getting dressed up like a woman that would've bothered him- when he was growing up, women were the ones with the power, it wasn't exactly an insult to look like one, and he had to do that later to get into Gerudo Town anyway -it was the idea of being turned into what amounted to a science experiment that would've annoyed him. Being told to sit and stay and be subjected to whatever his handlers wanted to do would've driven him crazy.

That, and he remembered being an adolescent boy, and he knew how adolescent girls acted, and he and his sister probably would've driven each other up the wall and down each other's throats.

... he still missed her, though.

He forcibly shoved that subject aside and focused back on the task at hand, most of which was just taking pictures, but the first thing he had to do was something that he wasn't ... exactly looking forward to. For a myriad of reasons, not the least of which was 'fessing up to having not told the entire truth to Zumi and Yammo earlier about his relationship status with Zelda. Although before he could do that, he had to 'fess up to himself about it. His side of things wasn't anything he'd been... too untruthful about- there was nothing that he'd given any thought to (and fighting his brain to keep it that way was sometimes a challenge) -but he knew damn well what Zelda's side was. Sure, there honestly was the chance that the years had changed her, but he had a feeling in his gut that they hadn't. He'd probably hide behind that possibility for awhile yet, but it was something he was going to have to face at some point.

Sometimes he wished he'd worked harder at not avoiding dealing with emotions after his initial grief over Marin had passed. It'd make things a lot easier on him. His tendency to shut down had helped him save face when the kingdom's spotlight was on him, but now it was just making things messy.

Oh, hey, brain. Nice of you to drift back to that subject. Let's stay on task, hmm?

The women had made pretty good time, all things considered, as Link could see them just on the other side of Proxim Bridge as he approached it. He nodded in greeting to Brigo, who still was holding his position as guard, though what he was guarding and why, Link wasn't sure. Whatever made him happy and gave him purpose, Link supposed.

There was more consternation. Link knew what he was doing better than Muzu would've liked, but having some measure of power did ease his fears a bit.

"If it would help, I will write down what I remember," Muzu said, shaking his head. "My word of mouth won't make it down generations, a written record is going to last longer than I will."

"I have a feeling you'll give it your best shot at proving that wrong," Link said with a tired amusement. "But yeah, we'd appreciate it if you would write down what you can. I'll tell Zelda to do the same tonight. You can compare notes tomorrow while I board Ruta and see what I can do with the Slate."

Sidon was inwardly impressed at Link's masterful handling of Muzu. And while neither his father nor Link were looking his direction, Sidon could practically hear their thoughts and how they were directed at him.

He was of two minds on the issue, and would happily let both of those minds stay in the back of his head until there was more information to work with to decide if either of those minds had any reason for existing in the first place.

"If I may, I would very much like to sit in on that conversation," he said. "I admit to some curiosity. My sister's bond with the Divine Beast seemed understated in her diary."

What? He needed that information if he were to decide what mind he should be entertaining.

Dorephan exchanged a glance with Link, noticing his fears were shared, and not just by Link; he saw the look on Muzu's face out of the corner of his eye.

"I believe this is a conversation as many of us as possible should sit in on," he said, a bit cautiously. "The more who know this information, the less likely it is that it will get lost."

A true enough statement, and one he knew needed to be said to keep Muzu from raising any further protests and dragging the subject of their collective worries up into the open. Sidon wasn't stupid, he surely knew what the looks his elders had given each other meant. But there was no reason to make him feel entirely on the spot. He would speak with his son without Muzu present to throw in his unnecessary rupees

Yeah, Link's going to let you have that conversation, Dorephan. "From your mouth to Hylia's ears, as the saying goes," Link said. "But as much as I'd really rather stay here, I still have some things I'm getting for Zelda, and I haven't hit the stretch of the road between the Dueling Peaks Stable and Hateno. I'll be back tomorrow, and this time with a queen in tow."

He paused, then looked back towards the rest of the Domain, wondering how on earth he was going to get Zelda over that water by the shrine.

Eh, he'd just have to carry her. Hope her dignity didn't mind, because it didn't get a choice.

Before anyone could ask what that had been about, he turned back around and looked up at Dorephan, opening his mouth to say goodbye again, only to go quiet as his attention caught on to the Zora symbol that was engraved on the wall just over Dorephan's head. It was one that Link had known all his life and never thought much of.

"Are you sure it goes on the right?"
"I got it third, so yeah."
"That's no reason, Link!"
"You got a better idea, Navi?"

Wait, who's Navi?

The Sapphire fit perfectly- see, I told you -and the Ocarina made a lonely sound in the empty temple, but the Door was loud and a chorus sung from nowhere, and there it was, just beyond, the Sword, we're almost there, Navi-

Who's Navi?

"Good job, kid. I thought you had those keys. You led me straight to the gate to the Sacred Realm. I owe it all to you."

And then it was black and suddenly he was pulled from the bottom of an abyss by a voice telling him to wake up- wake up- it's been seven years-

Only seven? No, it's been a hundred.

He was let in and it was my fault-

"Link?"

Link jerked, tensing as he scrambled to take in his surroundings and assess potential threats.

Wait. Right. Zora throne room. With people looking at him. And Sidon saying something to him. Oops. Answer, answer, what needed to be answered?

Link decided to gamble that they'd buy a line of bull about being tired and just missed what was said. "What?" He blinked up at Sidon, trying to look more confused and less shaken than he was. "Sorry, I missed that."

Sidon might- might -have assumed tiredness, but he'd already seen Link spooked by a memory that hadn't been there a moment ago, and not only had this memory obviously blindsided Link, it'd done far more than merely spook him; the young Hylian was pale and looked afraid of something.

"Are you all right?" he asked, uncertain he'd get an answer. When a brief memory had drifted back of Mipha, Link had seemed startled, but not afraid, and had confessed easily enough as to what it was at the time, even in front of Muzu, someone who'd displayed open hostility towards him. This, however, looked like something Link would be loathe to divulge. Certainly not in front of Muzu, likely not in front of Sidon's father, and possibly not even to Sidon in private.

Sidon-in-private, maybe at some distant later date, but Sidon was sure as hell right on those first two counts.

Link shook his head, forcing a sheepish and tired smile. "I'm fine. Running at breakneck speeds the last year I think is catching up to me. Just spaced off for a second, that's all."

He grabbed the Slate off his belt, using his actions as much as his words to cut off further inquiries. "Anyway, I really am sorry, but I gotta get going."

Select Wasteland Tower, wave a "see you guys tomorrow," and select 'travel,' please for the love of the goddess.
