So. About them errands, huh?
((Man. How about all that self-play. It's what I get for playing 90% of the characters, I guess. :p And also currently the only character who can fling himself around the kingdom in seconds, so the job of errand boy has fallen to him. Purah's really got to come up with something for Zelda.))

After contacting Zelda and ending up with a laundry list of things he needed to get, as well as a brief panic when she asked about the sign outside his house, of all things, Link shifted his focus to his new agenda: getting a bunch of girly stuff.

His life went awry somewhere along the line, and he wasn't quite sure where. As much as he missed his sister, part of him was glad his early teen years weren't plagued by a teenage girl potentially trying to cajole him into being her practice dummy for learning how to apply makeup and do fancy hair styles. There was a good chance Marin would've ended up more like their grandmother than their mother on that front, but even so, that was an arrow he'd dodged.

It wasn't even getting dressed up like a woman that would've bothered him- when he was growing up, women were the ones with the power, it wasn't exactly an insult to look like one, and he had to do that later to get into Gerudo Town anyway -it was the idea of being turned into what amounted to a science experiment that would've annoyed him. Being told to sit and stay and be subjected to whatever his handlers wanted to do would've driven him crazy.

That, and he remembered being an adolescent boy, and he knew how adolescent girls acted, and he and his sister probably would've driven each other up the wall and down each other's throats.

... he still missed her, though.

He forcibly shoved that subject aside and focused back on the task at hand, most of which was just taking pictures, but the first thing he had to do was something that he wasn't ... exactly looking forward to. For a myriad of reasons, not the least of which was 'fessing up to having not told the entire truth to Zumi and Yammo earlier about his relationship status with Zelda. Although before he could do that, he had to 'fess up to himself about it. His side of things wasn't anything he'd been... too untruthful about- there was nothing that he'd given any thought to (and fighting his brain to keep it that way was sometimes a challenge) -but he knew damn well what Zelda's side was. Sure, there honestly was the chance that the years had changed her, but he had a feeling in his gut that they hadn't. He'd probably hide behind that possibility for awhile yet, but it was something he was going to have to face at some point.

Sometimes he wished he'd worked harder at not avoiding dealing with emotions after his initial grief over Marin had passed. It'd make things a lot easier on him. His tendency to shut down had helped him save face when the kingdom's spotlight was on him, but now it was just making things messy.

Oh, hey, brain. Nice of you to drift back to that subject. Let's stay on task, hmm?

The women had made pretty good time, all things considered, as Link could see them just on the other side of Proxim Bridge as he approached it. He nodded in greeting to Brigo, who still was holding his position as guard, though what he was guarding and why, Link wasn't sure. Whatever made him happy and gave him purpose, Link supposed.

Link snorted into laughter, dropping his hands. "Naw, I just wanted to give you shit. If I really wanted to revel in adoration that much, I'd go over to Korok Forest. Being called 'Mister Hero' by everything that moves does more to over-inflate my ego than anything you could possibly do."

"A name well-deserved," Sidon said with a laugh. Then he shook his head. "I sometimes wonder if my sister knew what sort of language you use. It's always a bit shocking to hear such casual swearing. One doesn't hear it that much here."

"Oh, she knew," Link assured him with a grin. "And it drove her crazy. She gave up on me about the time I hit thirteen and started hanging around other squires and the junior knights and learned even more bad words."

Sidon could imagine just how crazy that must've driven his sister. Though Link's stated age gave him pause. "Thirteen? That's quite young. Is the aging difference that vast between Hylians and Zora?"

"And then some," Link said. "You were thirteen when the Calamity hit, weren't you?"

"I was, yes," Sidon said with a frown, mentally going over what he'd read in his sister's diary about Link. "I suppose I should have wondered more about her statement of your age when she first met you." More frowning. Something about the aging difference was niggling something in the back of his mind, and he wasn't sure what it was. Maybe Link might say something that would make it click into place.

Oh lady, that diary. Link couldn't help but roll his eyes and shake his head. "I have no idea what your sister may have heard, but she misunderstood whatever it was. I can promise you, I wasn't beating anyone with a sword at the age of four, much less adults. You were the equivalent of a Hylian four year old when the Calamity hit. To give you an idea of how young I was when I met your sister, and how- uh. 'Inaccurate' her impression was."

He noticed that Sidon had some serious Thinking Face going on, and if he wasn't currently wearing the Zora princess equivalent of an engagement ring that Mipha was going to throw at him, Link might not have figured out what was going on in that head of his.

Godsdamnit, he really hadn't wanted to get into anything resembling a serious conversation, especially not one that he'd have to stick around to help clean up the aftermath of, because if Sidon connected the dots that Link was pretty sure he was seeing, Link couldn't just shrug and say 'gotta go' and leave him standing there, holding that particular bag.

Link bit off a sigh, left it an inward one, and looked up towards the throne room. "Don't think about it too much right now," he said. "Really not up for a serious conversation right now, and I'm not going to be an asshole to a friend by throwing baggage at him and then disappearing, and unfortunately, I have a date with a twelve-year-old chieftess to get make-up tips to take back to a seventeen-year-old queen who was never taught how to do any of that shit herself."

He looked up at Sidon with an exaggerated look of profound suffering. "Please stop and take a moment to pity me, for I am in a position that no man wishes to be in."

Sidon had been beginning to connect those dots that Link was worried about, but Link's reason for not having time to stay and talk about them blindsided him and dragged his mind completely off track.

He blinked in confusion at his friend for a moment, trying to decide if there were any exaggeration or blatant falsehood in that statement, but he saw and heard none, and between the assurance that Link would not, as he put it, 'throw baggage' at him and then leave him to flounder about with it on his own, and the look of suffering- and that was a bit exaggerated -at his reasons, Sidon willingly set those dots and the picture they formed aside and chose to be amused at his friend's plight instead.

But he wasn't going to show how amused he was. That would be rude. Link had asked for pity, laughing at him was just the opposite.

It took him a few breaths to get his face to cooperate with hiding that amusement. "A position I do not envy you for, and have so far been able to escape."

Yeah, don't think Link didn't see that amusement during those few breaths you had to take to hide it, Sidon.

Link gave him a tired look. "So far," he said. "And I issue a curse upon you that you have to, because I saw how much you wanted to laugh. I hope you end up with a daughter who's the girliest girl to ever walk the earth. And comes to you to get your opinion on how beautiful she looks, so you are in the awkward position of trying to evaluate your daughter's looks and accept that she's growing up and going to be using all those 'look pretty' things that are a complete mystery to you in ways you don't want your little girl to be using them. Woe unto you for earning this curse."

Okay, now Sidon was laughing. It was really hard not to at that point. "Should this come to pass, I will simply direct her to you for assistance, as you will already have experience," he said with a toothy grin.

"How kind of you," Link grumbled. "Just be warned that sending her to her dad's crazy Hylian friend is going to result in her coming back with an expanded vocabulary. If I'm going to be turned into the Adult You Throw Your Kids At, I'm going to be the 'fun uncle' sort that sugars them up and sends them home for you to deal with."

"Teach any children I have such words and I may have to declare war," Sidon said in a perfectly level tone that didn't match at all the smile on his face.

"You know, towering over me isn't going to mean you win a fight," he said with a dirty look. "Everyone towers over me, and I've yet to lose."

"Surely not everyone?" Sidon asked as much as said.
