Link was actually going to take a couple more minutes- he realized he was going to have to scavange one of the lights from the chandelier, or otherwise his little alcove was going to be very annoyingly dark.
Unfortunately, he was short- he was convinced he was the only short one in his family, as his sister was already bigger than him when she passed, and neither of his parents had been short, and while he couldn't remember what his grandmother looked like, he seemed to remember she had a towering presence, so whose shitty genetics he got, he wasn't sure, but he wasn't happy about it -which meant he was standing up on the table to get to the lights.
He glanced up at the loft once he'd worked a lantern free, listening for signs of her having fallen asleep.
Deciding that he was making too much noise yet for her to have fallen asleep, he decided to give her one more goodnight. "Hey, if you need something, wake me up," he said. "I can nap later if I need to."
He hopped down off the table and put the vase he'd taken off it back on its surface. "Anyway, goodnight."
