Marcus, feeling weak and shaky, had run around cleaning up steak bones and hidden his teddy bear away in a closet. He had managed to get back to the couch and wrap himself in a blanket by the fire when he heard someone apparate outside his door.

He hoped there was no evidence of his Sunday activities left, but he supposed it was too late now. He had spent the last day and a half sleeping in pajamas in a dark bedroom and only crawled out onto the couch when the owl had come from Kherrington. He hated the days following the full moon. His whole body burned with exhaustion.

Marcus Belby was doing research. Well, it wasn't exactly the research he needed to do. It wasn't a total waste of time, but it was its own form of procrastination. Marcus should have been seeking interviews for his book, but instead he was hiding at the book store, blowing his paycheck on a mountain of books on topics ranging from the recent war to lycanthropic infection.

Marcus had a mountain growing at his feet as he browsed the shelves. He finally decided he had enough and bent down to pick up the stack. He felt like the fat mouse from Cinderella with a stack of corn under his chin. Marcus staggered left and right to keep it balanced and walked right into someone.
