Who: EVERYONE! :) Feel free to make new subthreads and play and stuff. ^^ The Bakery/Cafe is yours today!
When: All day Monday
Where: Baxter bakery
What: Grand Opening!!

Audrey had her hands full. Her delivery girls (three of them in total, all recent Hogwarts grads) had gone through a brief training as to how to deal with customers, stock the pastry case and drink fridge, and use the espresso machine. Audrey was on the register. It was an incredibly busy morning, but they were getting to customers as quickly as they could--and when people had to stand and wait, one of the girls brought out a tray of cut up cookies for samples.

Business was booming--which was what she'd hoped for today. A lot of people brought in their coupons for free cookies, and a lot of people didn't. Nearly everyone picked up a cup of tea or a cup of coffee with their purchase, upping the sales and revenue. Audrey was insanely glad she'd put in the espresso machine, because it nearly doubled her earnings. Things were going swimmingly. And all of the friends that came into the shop made it even more wonderful.

Audrey broke into a grin when another familiar face came to the front of the line.

Audrey saw some flowers moving across the bakery out of the corner of her eye, and a little grin crossed her features. It was like her birthday and Christmas all wrapped into one. Best day of the year, maybe the best day of her life! --Okay, so that might be going overboard. But it was a wonderful, wonderful day, and Audrey felt so incredibly blessed to have so many people around to visit with her and support the shop. Many friends were showing up to show their support, yes, but strangers, too, who enjoyed her pastries through other shops or who had found the coupon in the newspaper.

The line slowly died down, and the flowers that Audrey had nearly forgotten came wandering up toward the front of the shop. She broke into an even brighter grin at the sight of them, and gave a laugh when she saw Oliver's face show up behind them. "Oliver!" She grinned, stepping out from behind the counter to meet him and steal a hug in thanks. "Thank you! Oh, you're so sweet. Are these for me?"

'They most certainly are,' Oliver placed the flowers on a nearby surface in order to properly return Audrey's hug. He let it linger a bit, giving an extra squeeze at the end; it had been a long time since he'd had the time to visit.

'I thought they might brighten up your shop on its first day, but that hardly seems necessary now. This place is absobloodylouty fantastic! I'm well impressed.'

Audrey was rather fond of Oliver. He was friendly, and fun, not to mention standing next to him made her look better. It'd been far too long since they'd had a chance to visit, and Audrey wished they had a lot more time this morning than they seemed to have to catch up. But she was going to take advantage as much as she could.

"Thank you!" She responded, returning the squeeze before letting go. "Oh, you're too great. This is wonderful. They're going to look beautiful right over here." She said, moving to put the flowers at the far end of the counter, next to the fridge full of cold drinks. It really did accent the room beautifully.

"You like it?" She asked, turning back to face him. She couldn't stop grinning. "I'm so glad! I mean, a part of me thought I'd be sitting here alone with a few pity customers and a visit from a couple friends. This is far more than I could have ever dreamed!"

'Bollocks,' Oliver teased, looking about as if to prove his point. 'You dreamed up every last bit of this place. Don't sell yourself short. It's absolutely brilliant.'

And because he couldn't help himself, Oliver's eyes slid to the pastry counter. Everything looked and smelled fresh and inviting and he pointed with an apologetic grin. 'I'm sorry, I've just got to- butter croissant? Please? Then we can catch up. It's just- I- I'm weak. Can't help it. My concentration will be shot until I get a taste.

'I've heard really good things about your biscuits, as well.'

It was nice to know that her wares were so distracting. Audrey gave a little laugh when he asked for the butter croissant. She nodded, then hopped around the counter to grab him a croissant and a couple of cookies. "Don't be sorry!" She grinned, "it's great to know that my food can do that sort of thing to people. It's what I strive for."

"Do you want a tea or a coffee?" She asked as she prepared the plate. It only took her a moment, and then she came back around the counter to hold it out to him. They could sit for a minute, things had died down enough. The girls behind the counter were taking a brief breather, too. They'd bring out his drink if he wanted one.

Taking the plate and holding it just under his nose, Oliver inhaled. The croissant smelled of butter and sweetness and, if it could be believed, fluffiness. It had been a long time since Oliver had sampled anything so enticing and he relished in the first bite the flaky, perfect nature of his favorite pastry. 'Oh, my word, woman,' chewing slowly, 'If she were alive me Gran would be jealous. You have a definite talent.'

Audrey simply watched him as he took a bite. She loved making food for people, and she loved watching them enjoy it. All through everything--the war, losing her memory, gaining it back--the only thing she could ever remember to do perfectly was bake. And so bake she did. Even when she didn't know her name, or her favorite color, she could make the most perfect chocolate-chocolate chunk cookies. Why not make some money off of her talent?

Not to mention that watching people enjoy her goods so very much was more than worth it. Just the look on Oliver's face as he bit and chewed... it was better than galleons.

"Thanks, Oliver." She said, blushing a little and grinning brightly. "I'm so glad you like it."

'Love... it's better than sex,' and Oliver promptly took another bite, his eyes slipping shut as the flavors burst across his tongue. It was exquisite, delicate and flaky on the outside with a moist and creamy center. Definitely worth the calories.

'Mhm.. So,' head-space finally grounding, Oliver opened his eyes ready for a proper chat. Now that the temptation had been satisfied he felt he could focus. 'Today's going well, then? What's been your favorite part?'

Oh, goodness. Audrey promptly went beet red at his comment about it being better than sex. She gave a little laugh to try and relieve some of that awkwardness. Sure, she loved making good food, and she loved being told it was good food, but there was something still innocent about the girl. And sex wasn't something that she... had. No basis for comparison. At least, not that she remembered. In fact she'd had two sexual partners in her lifetime--one in school and one immediately after, before the war--but she didn't remember them. Well, she didn't even remember dating the first, or sleeping with the second.

"I love that look." She responded to his question, pointing at his face. "That 'better than sex' look." She grinned, the pink taking over her ears now as well as her cheeks and neck. "When my customers have that look on their faces, I know it's a job well done."

Oliver couldn't help but notice her bashfulness and if he were more of a gentlemen he might have let it go at that. But Audrey was far too adorable to let the embarrassment slide and Oliver bit the corner of his lip, smiling down at her reddened face.

'You running a brothel or a bakery? I'd offer to come round with my sex face more often but I think George might take offense.'

Audrey couldn't stop a laugh that escaped her when he mentioned his 'sex face'. It was half way between a guffaw and a snort, and Audrey lifted both hands to cover her face as more giggles escaped her.

"Your what face???" She laughed from behind her hands. "Why, Oliver Wood! You naughty boy!"

Oliver stifled a chuckle and instead winked playfully. She really was adorable.

Taking what was to be the last bite of his croissant and making a show of it, Oliver moaned low, thoroughly demonstrating how much he was enjoying his food. 'Mhmm... Audrey... so good!' But that was all the teasing he was good for and the laughter escaped out his nose while he chewed, eyes sparkling.

Audrey was really, really trying to stifle her laughter, but not only was he adorable and funny, she was rather embarrassed and bashful... it made for a very red, very laughing Audrey. She reached over and gave his shoulder a very playful push.

"You're so bad! So naughty!" It was one of those 'I'll have what she's having' moments. Audrey's face was on fire.

He scrunched his nose in reply, still chuckling himself but not nearly as hard or as loud as Audrey. The sound was wonderful; it had been a long time since Oliver had the opportunity to laugh with a friend.

'Aye, right. You're right. I'm horrifically naughty. You'll have to punish me.'

"Oh? I have to?" Audrey finally got control of her laughter and raised an eyebrow as she looked over at him. He still had a fun look on his face, and she was still highly amused. It'd been a while since she'd had fun with a friend... she'd been working so hard on getting the bakery up and running. "What should I do to punish you? What will make you learn not to be naughty?"

Air forced its way out Oliver's tight grin in a strange sort of snorting laugh, 'Oh hell if I know. Me mum's been trying to teach me manners since I was a boy.

'Obviously, it never sunk in. Not yet at least.'

Audrey gave another little laugh. "Well, obviously. Since you're so naughty. Perhaps I'll have to cut you off. No more croissants. Would that teach you a lesson about being naughty?" She asked, leaning over a little playfully and raising an eyebrow at him.

'Ho!' Oliver shouted in mock shock and dismay, 'You wouldn't dare. That's just plain mean.' As it was there were still two biscuits on his plate and Oliver popped one cheekily into his mouth, consuming it in one bite.

'More like torture, than punishment.'

Audrey lifted a hand as if shielding his face from her view. "Oi! Chew and swallow before talking, thankyou!" She kidded, then gave a laugh.

"All right, all right, I won't cut you off. We'll have to figure out something for me to do to teach you not to be naughty..."

Obediently, Oliver swallowed before continuing to talk. 'I'm sure over time something appropriate will come to mind.

'For now though, would you mind packing a goodie bag? Just an assortment of things; I'm picking up Hermione from St. Mungo's in a quarter of an hour and I thought she might like something sweet and or savory.'

"Oh, of course." Audrey was on her feet in a moment, heading back around behind the counter. "No problem. I think..." She ducked down behind the pastry case and started packing some things into a goodie bag for Hermione. Raspberry Lady Fingers and Mini Broccoli Quiches on top of a couple of other things. All delicious.

"I hope she's healing well. After the horrible attack..." She said, coming back around the counter to hand the bag over.

Reaching out, Oliver tugged Audrey close and enveloped her into a tight hug. He was just tall enough to kiss the top of her head companionably.

The way Audrey had tapered off left Oliver to wonder if she really was as happy as she seemed, or if the day's events were simply a distraction. The attack seemed to have taken its toll on a number of his friends, hitting a little too close to home. There wasn't much he could offer to ease their troubles, but hugs were readily available.

'She seems fine; happy to be going home. The healers at St. Mungo's are top notch. Anyone under their care is in good hands.

'Don't you worry.'

The hug was exactly what Audrey needed. She'd been going nonstop, working her fingers to the bone getting things ready for the Grand Opening, and keeping herself busy so she wouldn't have to think about poor George in his hospital bed. It was a bit of a distraction. It was all things she had to do, so she wasn't coming up with things to fill her day, but... in the end she wasn't looking forward to having time to sit and think. Because then she'd be thinking about how close she was to losing him. When she'd only just gotten her hands on him.

She melted into the hug for a moment, letting her face bury in Oliver's chest. It was warm and comforting. Her arm wrapped down and around him and she gave a little sigh. "I know. Thanks, Oli."

Resting his cheek on the crown of her head, Oliver held Audrey for as long as she needed. He was rubbish with advice, even worse with the actual words required to give any. But he had a broad chest and strong arms perfect for getting lost in.

'Anytime.'

One of the shop girls behind the counter cleared her throat, and Audrey turned to see what might be going on. Another girl was behind the cash register frantically pushing buttons to try and get the thing open to give some change, and a line was backing up.

"I really should get back to work." Audrey said, reluctantly pulling out of Oliver's arms and giving him a sheepish grin. "Come back soon, though, yeah?"
