WHO: Julieta Jimenez and Brad Swartz (special guest: Albert the plant)
WHAT: Reunited and it feels so good
WHEN: Monday night
WHERE: Brad's room
WARNINGS: None
STATUS: Complete
Brad had been let out of the med bay eventually - his injuries were healed, but they could have been life-threatening if they hadn’t made it back to the regular world when they did. He was tired though - although he wasn’t sure how he could be tired after spending three and a half days asleep but he was. So he had headed back to his and Jonas’s room to just be in his bed and rest. MARINE TOLD ME ARE YOU OKAY? Albert asked when Brad entered the room. “Yeah I’m fine,” Brad told the plant, he was skeptical about his concern. I WILL FUCK THOSE TREES UP. “Yeah, they’re not real,” Brad said. “Did someone give you water while I was gone?” NO. Brad grabbed his water bottle and watered Albert who let out a little happy sigh. “No need to get all emotional about some water,” Brad said as he went and found a clean pair of cotton shorts and a tshirt. No sooner had he gotten the shirt over his head while Albert talked happily about what he had heard from trees around campus then he heard a knock on the door. “Yeah?” he asked, opening the door. Juli had been asleep when the others woke up, and hadn’t woken up until a few hours later. She’d rushed to the med bay as soon as she heard to see her friends, and had panicked a little when Brad hadn’t been there, until someone told her that he’d just been released. So then she’d gone straight to his room, banging on the door until the answered, and when he did practically jumping into his arms. “Brad!” she said, relieved he was okay, and then just stood there for a minute, making sure he was real. After a minute though, she pulled back, swatting at him. “Bradley Oliver Swartz!” she said, almost angrily. “What the FUCK were you thinking being one of the people that fell into the dreams? And then getting HURT in a dream? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW SCARED I WAS?” She didn’t wait for him to answer, though, instead pulling him back into a hug. Brad laughed. It was the only thing he could do while he held Juli tightly to him. “Well you know, I did think, what can I do to make Juli scared so I went down and had a nice chat with George Cooper and we thought up the whole thing.” It wasn’t a very funny joke given that George Cooper was a sociopath who had tried to murder everyone in the dreams but given everything Brad had gone through in the last four days, it was his attempt the lighten the mood. He leaned down and kissed her forehead. “It is however good to see you, Ethan and Kitoko just aren’t as good at hugging.” Speaking of them - he would need to check in with them later and make sure everyone else made it out okay. “It’s really good to see you, too,” Juli said, voice a bit muffled with her face buried in his shoulder. After a moment she dragged him to his bed and then curled up next to him, still holding him tightly. “So you were with Ethan and Kitoko? Who else? What happened? Did anyone else get hurt? What did you do? How did you get out? What kind of hurt did you get? Did you just get hurt one time? Are you sure you’re okay now?” She finally paused from asking questions, but then added, in an uncharacteristically quiet voice, “I’m really glad you’re okay, Brad.” “I’m okay now - they had Anthony and Caleb healing people, I was stabbed at the end so they held me for a little longer,” he explained. “But before then, I was in a cabin with a bunch of different people - Tanja was there too.” He was not going to tell Juli about how Tanja had gotten possessed and he had wanted to tie her up and leave her in the basement. He figured no one else needed to know that outside of their group. “But Kieren, Qamar, Sam, and Jimmy were there too.” He proceeded to tell her about the cabin that they had been in and how no one had listened to him when he told them not to open the basement door and the demonic tees talking to him. “But Marine and Caleb kept showing up too, so that was nice so that we didn’t feel like we were going crazy.” Well Brad had still felt like he was going crazy at the time but that was because of the trees. Juli listened to him talk about his experiences and everything that had happened, glad that he’d gotten out without too much of an injury, or at least with just one that was easily fixed. “Well I’m glad they were there to keep you from going crazy,” she said, having gotten a little bit of information out of them over the week, though not nearly as much as she would have liked. Mostly because she wanted all the information. Her attention, as usual, was diverted, though, this time to his power, always fascinated with his conversation with plants. “How were the trees evil, exactly?” she asked, curious. Brad kissed her forehead again and he could tell that Albert was listening now too because of how quiet he was being. “Well they didn’t talk at first which was weird. I couldn’t figure out why it was so quiet and then I realized that none of the plants were talking like they usually do because when they’re not talking to me I can kind of tune it out, like being in a crowd. But then they started telling me to get out which then turned into telling me that they were going to kill me.” He explained to her how he, Jimmy, Ethan, and Kikoto had wound up in the water and then had to walk back through the forest. “Well then they picked us up – have you seen the Wizard of Oz? It was sort of like that – they were trying to rip us apart but they thought Jimmy was one of them, because he can make chlorophyll so he saved us.” He shook his head and Albert let out a loud sigh. “It was the craziest thing that had ever happened to me. I’m glad you were here though and not in a dream.” At least she was sort of safe here and not being chased by frat boys or demonic monkies. Juli relaxed a little bit when he kissed her on the forehead, a little less stressed, it sinking in a little more that he was really here again, and not stuck with demonic trees or whatever. “I’m sorry the plants were such assholes,” she said, once he was done telling his story. “I guess a singing aloe plant doesn’t seem as bad as it could be now, right?” she said, straining her head to take a look at Albert, but then relaxing against him again. “I’m glad I wasn’t in a dream, too,” Juli admitted honestly. “I don’t think I would have done very well, I’d probably have mostly freaked out or something.” “Yeah, he missed me,” Brad said, grinning at Albert. OH SHUT UP. I JUST LIKE HAVING SOMEONE TO TALK TO. But Brad thought that maybe JUST maybe Albert had been a little worried that he wasn’t going to come back again and then he wouldn’t have anyone to bother anymore. “Yeah, I guess Albert has never tried to kill me so those are some points for him.” Brad was of course joking, he would rather be stuck here with annoying plants rather than ones who were currently trying to murder him. This was much much much preferred. “I don’t know, you might have talked the demons to death,” he teased her. “They might have just ran the other way and then we would have been alright.” “Oh, Bradley, I know you didn’t just suggest that I talk too much, or that my talking is enough to drive demons crazy,” Juli said, but she did so with a grin, poking him lightly. Part of her was tired of talking about the sad stuff, and after all the stress of the few days just wanted to have fun again, and pretend like the weekend hadn’t happened. It would be easier for her, she knew, than for the people who had actually lived the nightmares, but still, they should be able to too, she hoped. “I’m implying both actually,” Brad said. He was glad he was back and he was glad that Juli had come to find him. “Actually that’s not really an implication and rather a fact.” He kissed her. “You do talk a lot, but I suppose I don’t mind.” It was nice to be with his girlfriend and not be panicked about whether or not a tree was going to eat him or if demonic Tanja was going to break his arms from when he held her down. “What did you do this weekend? Besides crying over my sleeping body, of course.” “Pretty much whatever people told me to,” she said, shrugging. “Sadie had a really rough time of it, though. Which, I guess makes sense? Since it was her brother. But I didn’t really know what to do, so I just gave her a hug and some biscuits and caramel, which I think helped? I told her it’d all be okay, though. And I was right. Like always.” Her voice wobbled a bit when she said that, because she hadn’t really been sure, even if she’d pretended she was. And then she shook her head. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore. You’re back. Sam’s back. Everyone’s back. It’s over now.” Sam had been in Brad’s group and had argued with Qamar about who was the leader – that had been annoying but when Juli said she didn’t want to talk about it anymore he decided to change the subject. He didn’t want to upset her – he could tell by her tone anyway that she had been more scared than she’d let on. “Alright well,” Brad said before he kissed her and pulled her close. “We don’t have to talk about it anymore.” It wasn’t something he really wanted to relive anyway. “Good,” Juli said, letting him pull her close and kiss her. This she liked better. It was easier, it took less thinking, and it made her happy, instead of stressed. So she pulled him down to a laying position on the bed, kissing him again. This she could do for hours. “Hey,” Brad said softly after a few minutes of interrupted alone time with Juli. He pushed some hair from her face. “Do you want to stay here tonight?” he asked. He wasn’t sure how well he would sleep and he didn’t really want to be in the dark alone – not that he would ever admit that to anyone even her. Juli was a little bit surprised by the tenderness, but she liked it, and nodded. “Yeah,” she said, and then kissed him briefly before continuing. “Yeah, definitely. If it’s okay with Jonas? And I’ll tell Sadie. But I’d like that.” “I don’t really care if Jonas minds,” Brad told her. At this point, Jonas could deal with it – it’s not like they were going to have sex. They hadn’t yet and Brad hardly thought that tonight after being stabbed and murdering his evil twin would be it. “Do you want to go get something to sleep in or you can borrow something of mine,” he told her. “And you can use my phone to text her if you want.” “I’ll borrow something of yours,” she said, not really wanting to leave now that she was here. “And text her. But later, since she’s probably with Sam right now.” Juli leaned over to give him a kiss, and then broke into a grin. “And anyways, I’m busy now,” she said, and kissed him again. |
