Entry tags: | ! mod post, plot: vol squad |
In the evening on Thursday, July 4 (around 9pm) the Vol Squd gets an urgent message that they're needed to report for duty by 10pm. They're quickly taken off campus and loaded into a military aircraft. Once in the air, they are briefed on the mission at hand: a diplomat in Jakarta reported a sighting of Andrew Parish, backed up by some blurry surveillance camera footage. The squad is warned not to talk about the mission on the network (and Undernet access does not work outside of the school) or even in texts to their friends, as it is highly confidential. They don't know what the VR might be attempting in Jakarta, but they're not taking any chances.
The plan is to land and immediately break into teams to begin tracking the city for Vols Rising members, with Leo at the head doing his thing. However, they've barely touched down on the runway in Jakarta when they get the news: an attack has been sprung on the Indonesian School for Vols.
The Indonesian army calls in for reinforcements and they put up quite a fight -- the school is located outside the city in a massive industrial complex, and troops surround it on all sides -- but they're no match for superpowers. When the Vol Squad arrives, the troops fall back and let them enter, quick on the heels of the VR.
Only those who are willing and able to go into a combat situation are sent inside. Please let us know in the comments if your character would both 1) want to go into combat and 2) actually be allowed to go into combat. In other words, sorry Lilja, even if you want to go in, they're probably not going to let you. Everyone else will stay outside, ready to help deal with the rescued staff and students who manage to escape.
The IVF soldiers who accompanied them from IVI are coming in as backup, but it is hoped that the Vol Squad students may be able to subdue and possibly even mediate with their fellow Vols, in the hopes of getting as many out alive as possible. No serums are used, but everyone is given gas masks as a precaution.
Inside the building, Vol Squad members find the VR working to free Indonesian students. Some students are merely hiding in classrooms, others (with more dangerous powers) are locked in solitary confinement cells in extremely unsanitary conditions.
